ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR FOR HEALTH PROGRAMMING 3 APRIL 2012 16 APRIL 2012 (1700 hours) FULL-TIME – 40+ HOURS/WEEK

Peace Corps/Swaziland is seeking an individual for the long term Personal Services Contract position of Associate Director for Programming (APCD). Basic Position Functions: Senior Management position in a US Government development agency. Incumbent is responsible for programming activities of American volunteers placed in rural homesteads throughout Swaziland for community development, empowerment and improved health, especially HIV prevention and mitigation. APCD interacts with Swazi communities (especially with the Chiefs, inner councils and community leadership) host families, government officials, NGOs, Swazi and American staff and American volunteers. Work activities include: field visits to volunteer sites, program management, design and evaluation, interfacing with community counterparts and community leaders, volunteer site development (trips), heavy participation in annual 9-week pre-service training for volunteers and other training events, coordination of volunteer activities with Swazi NGOs and communities, compilation of data and completion of regular reports for Peace Corps’ Washington, DC headquarters office, and participation as a senior management team member in daily agency operations. Required Qualifications: Successful candidate must be able to demonstrate 1) At least 5 years of experience with international NGO or equivalent, 2) Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English and siSwati, 3) experience working across Swaziland closely with the Chiefs, inner councils and community leadership, 4) Computer proficiency as well as highly developed community relations skills, networking and diplomacy, 5) a Bachelors degree, 6) candidate must be mature, highly flexible, professional and possess problem-solving skills as well as a strong work ethic and ability to work independently. Desired Qualifications: 1) In-depth knowledge of American culture and diversity, 2) Supervisory experience, 3) Managing and supervising international Volunteers, 4) Master’s degree, 5) Prior experience with Peace Corps Salary Plus Allowances and Bonuses: Salary commensurate with experience. In addition, a 13 th month bonus, Meal and Miscellaneous Allowances, Health, Social Insurance and Pension contributions provided.
