We also talked about the drought that our country was experiencing. We began to share our concerns and ways in which we could help with the conservation of water. We also discussed ways to save water in our classroom, in our school and our homes They were then briefed about project requirements. The students were divided into groups of mixed ability and group leaders were appointed.

The students were trained on working on computers and carrying out internet research using various search engines.

The students carried out internet and library research on water. They collected information on sources of water, uses of water, conservation of water, water cycle, rainwater harvesting and water pollution. They also prepared PowerPoint Presentations. Sample PPTs are attached.

An intensive survey of water consumption in the school, at home and in the neighborhood was conducted. The students observed the leaking taps and overflowing tanks in the school. They also observed the water joints during recess time and found that many students were wasting water during its use.

A survey was also conducted by students in their neighbourhood to find out the water purification methods used for drinking water and the number of family members who had suffered from any water borne diseases such as diarrhea, loose motions, vomiting, Jaundice, stomach ache during last two months. The survey revealed that mostly the families where direct unfiltered water was used for drinking purpose suffered from water borne diseases.
