Picking keywords that are literally going to make you money is the key to online success...and if you are looking to generate free or organic traffic, then you have no other choice but to get knowledgeable about keyword research. It could mean the life or death of your business online.
A keyword is a word or phrase that a person uses to gather information on a topic online. People can enter keywords into search engines like google, yahoo and bing or social media sites like Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn.
Put yourself in the shoes of your ideal prospect. What words or short phrases would you use to find your product online or through social media. Remember the best keywords are those related to what your product or service is about.
Your goal is to find high traffic, low competition keywords. Common words, such as “marketing”, “social media” or “business,” are very competitive, making it harder to rank well for them in search engine results. There are a number of tools you can use to determine the competitiveness of a specific keyword as well as help you filter out the best traffic generating keywords within your niche, which will help you effectively build your business and eliminate wasting time on content creation that will not drive traffic to your website. These tools include the google keyword tool or the all‐in‐one keyword tool suite Market Samurai.
Now that you’ve chosen your keywords, you should incorporate them into your website and social media profiles. Optimize your website to include mentions of your target keywords in key places. For instance, the images you use, especially those on the home page, should include alternate text that reflects your keyword strategy. Use free WordPress plugins like All In One SEO Pack to help you optimize your site using your relevant keywords. We’ll go in to depth more about using your chosen target keywords to increase your site’s chances of ranking in the search engines.
Your goal as a business online is to be the first page on the major search engines. Search engine optimization (SEO) is how you do that. To get found on the search engines, you should aim to be on the first page or in the top three results pages for your target keywords. Social media makes this a lot easier, and with the emergence of google+, setting up a business profile will help significantly when it comes to your seo efforts. That’s why you need to make sure you are optimizing all your social media profiles with your major industry keywords.
Key Elements To Mastering Search Engine Optimization Page Title
Page titles are one of the most important on‐page seo factors. Your page title appears at the very top of your browser window when viewing a web page. They are also the title of a page that is presented in search engines. •Page titles should include your target keywords or keyword phrase •Be fewer than 60 characters long. Longer page titles will not be seen in your web browser or in google search results. If you make the page title too long, it will also dilute the importance of the keywords mentioned. •Place keywords as close to the beginning of the title as possible. •Include your company name at the end of the page title when appropriate.
•Use different page titles for each unique page. Each page is a new opportunity to incorporate target keywords.
A meta description is used to provide the searcher with a short description of the page beneath each search result. Though the meta data does not directly influence search engine results these words attract the searcher’s attention and gives them an indication if the content is relevant to the searcher. For this reason, including keywords in your meta description can draw in visitors.
Try to keep your meta description under 160 characters. If a meta description is not included in the source code, then the search engine will usually display part of the content from the page in its place.
Heading tags label the headlines within your posts so search engines will recognize it as "important" on your web page. The heading tags will make your headline bolder so it will stand out. You can verify this by checking the raw html code of your website and looking for text with an <h1>, <h2>, or <h3> tag surrounding it. Text in the headings is more likely to be read by search engines as keywords than text in the rest of the page. For this reason, it is good to include keywords in your headings whenever possible. <h1> tags give the text more weight as
keywords than <h2> tags, and <h2> tags have more weight than <h3> tags. While <h4> and <h5> tags do exist, their influence on keywords is virtually the same as that of regular text. Including too many headings dilutes the importance of keywords in other headings, so we recommend using the <h1> tag only once. If the page is text‐-heavy like a blog post, then feel free to throw in a few <h2> or <h3> tags as paragraph titles.
Embedding Images within your posts can enhance your visitor’s experience. But while images are visually attractive too many slow down your sites loading time and performance. If you are going to insert an image on your site always make sure to associate text with it. Search engines do not ‘read’ images; they read only text. Alt text is an html attribute you can add to your picture so search engines replace the image with some associated text. Lastly you’ll want to include keywords in your image file name. This will help you draw in relevant traffic from image searches. Separate keywords in the file name with a dash (‐).
While keywords are extremely important and relevant to optimizing your site and increasing your chances of being found in the search engines you don’t want over do it. Stuffing your posts with keywords is frowned upon by the search engines (they’re too smart for that) and they can actually penalize you doing so. Don’t sacrifice readability for the sake of trying to trick the search engines!
Blogging is considered to be one of the most effective branding and marketing tools for internet marketers in promoting their business while generating income through the use of advertisements or affiliate links. Your blog is the “hub” for your Internet marketing business. It’s the core of your entire business and brand. Yep, it’s that important! All pieces of content, from videos posted on sites such as YouTube and Facebook to articles posted on Ezines should point back to your blog. But with thousands of Internet marketers and small business owners with their own blogs it can be quite challenging getting your blog to stand out among so many. How do you get noticed? Why can some Internet marketers drive thousands of people to their site everyday while others get no blog traffic at all?
Having a blog brings you instant credibility and authority, automatically positions you as a leader and an expert, which gives you the leveraging power to successfully market and sell any products or services you choose. As you connect with new people either offline or in the social networking communities, their first glimpse into what you are all about is usually through your blog, the place where you give valuable, free content and blog posts for them to learn from. Your blog is a safe zone where your readers feel like it’s a place they can come to learn instead of be sold, which would be the case with a website, sales page or capture page. Your blog gives you the opportunity to build long term relationships and loyal followers because your visitors find comfort in the fact that you’re giving something to them instead of trying to take from them. A blog is interactive and continually changing… a place to your readers can come to give insight, share opinions and connect with other followers. If your
blog over delivers on valuable content, people will automatically want to follow you and they’ll continue to return every time you post something new. Blogs are search engine friendly and you can get your content ranked on the top of the search engines, like Google and Yahoo, driving more traffic to your site. A blog also helps you build your email list more effectively than any other type of website or capture page. The percentage of people stopping by your blog who opt‐in and join your email list will be much higher compared to a capture page to website. You can have multiple streams of income positioned on your blog, allowing you to earn passive income 24/7. Your blog is your “personal store” for all of your affiliate products, your own information products or services, network marketing business opportunities, and other income streams you have in place. If you notice on my personal blog, http://AndreaBolder.com I have monetized it in a number of ways, from banners ads to affiliate links, the promotion of my own info products and training programs. Blogs are also a great way to build social proof. This means that when you have other people commenting, sharing your content and interacting on your blog, a new visitor will be much more likely to listen to you and contribute as well. It’s just human nature… We see others doing something, and we are much more likely to follow the crowd and do it, too! So the bottom line is…if you know the right steps to take, your blog can become a money‐making machine, marketing itself. Your blog has the ability drive traffic, giving you an endless flow of new followers, new leads, and new prospects to introduce your business to on a daily basis.
There are many different blogging platforms out there today, but if you are serious about monetizing your blog and want to establish yourself as a credible player online, it’s important to use Wordpress.org as your blogging platform…
Blogging sites like Blogger and Wordpress.com host your blog for you, which means you do not have full control over your blog or the content you create on it. If they decide one day to shut down or pull your site, your blog and all it’s content is gone. Wordpress.org is free and your blog will be self‐hosted, meaning you will have 100% control and ownership over it and the url. As a professional business owner, you always want to have complete control of your work, your business, and your income. Since your blog is the core of your online business, you don’t want to ever risk losing it. So let’s see what it takes to create a money‐making blog!!
1. Find Your Focus: What is it that you want to talk about? What's your niche? You can talk about anything that relates to your industry and attracts your target audience. You may not be knowledgeable about every single aspect, but find topics you want to focus on and stick with it. Once you’ve narrowed down your niche, build a keyword strategy that attracts your ideal customer or prospect. This will increase your chances of getting found by people searching with those keywords, which will drive more and better quality traffic to your business’ website. 2. Buy A Domain: Domain names are fairly inexpensive and ".info" domain names can be purchased for as little as $1.99 from companies such as GoDaddy, and buying one will allow your blog site to be picked up by the search engines, such as Google, Yahoo, and others. It is recommended to purchase a ".com" domain name because they are most popular and what everyone is accustomed to using. You can get a ".com" domain name for under $10 dollars. You will want to purchase your company name as well as your own name if you are a personal brand. This way can brand YOU on your blog. For example, my name (and personal brand) is Andrea Bolder so what I did was scoop up andreabolder.com and andreabolderonline.com. To purchase your
own domain name visit GoDaddy Domains. (Quick tip: do a Google search for GoDaddy discount codes to save $) 3. Convey Valuable Content: Over delivering on value is the name of the game. One of the most important factors in having a successful blog is to provide solid, well‐written content that is easy to read, informative, beneficial, entertaining and enlightening! Most people will come across your blog by chance. They may have been doing a search for some relevant content about a specific topic of interest and if they stumble onto your site and find what they are looking for; if they are able to get valuable insight, strategies, skill sets, or training that can improve their life or that of their business, you can have a loyal fan that continues to follow your blog, recommends and shares your content with others. DON’T BE THAT PERSON that only promotes him or herself, their business opportunity or products without adding any value to the community. They come across like ‘spammers’ and end up annoying and repelling people, rather than attracting them. It’s going to be your VALUE that attracts followers and potential customers. There are a few ways you can deliver your content: video, text and audio. You can choose to stick with one or you can use a combination of the three. Experiment with each method and see which one you are most comfortable with! 4. Keep Your Blog Updated: This is critical and you want to maintain a consistent flow of great content. Updating your blog posts on a regular and consistent basis will increase your chances of being recognized by the search engines as relevant and popular. The more articles you write, the more traffic you are able to drive to your site. More traffic creates buzz and the popularity of your blog is what Google and other search engines use to rank websites. Increased traffic and frequent visitors also attract advertisers who will definitely show interest in placing ads on your site. 5. Keep a Clean and Professional Presentation: A clean, clutter‐free layout will allow your readers to focus on what's important, and that is your content! Stay
Why is this important? Well, once you have an email list of followers that like, trust, and listen to you, you can promote or sell anything you’d like for the rest of time. It becomes your own personal distribution channel where you can sell business opportunities, affiliate products, services, or your own personal products. To get your autoresponder set up, go to: AWeber Autoresponder. 9. Join Discussion Forums: As a blogger trying to make money online, do not be scared to get involved and participate as an active member on various forums and discussion sites. By posting intelligent and insightful comments in forum discussions, you will attract other forum members and they will visit your blog. Again do not forget to always include the URL address of your blog when you’re done leaving a comment. 10. Market Your Blog: This is one of the most important steps of all. You do not want to spend your time and money creating a fabulous blog that no one sees. You are not in the business of community service when it comes to your blog. Your goal is to drive traffic and generate leads to get in front of your network marketing company or product and make money! Becoming a master of promoting your blog is key. One way of marketing your blog is by using keywords in your blog titles and in the body of your blog posts. By regularly using targeted keywords you are increasing the possibility that your blog will rank higher in the search engine results, such as on Google and Yahoo! You also want to use social media and promote your blog on high traffic social networking sites such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and LinkedIn. By integrating your blog with social media marketing you can take full advantage of content syndication (content sharing). So now that we know how to make money with our blog, let’s turn our attention to optimizing our blog content, particularly your business blog post. A well‐constructed article includes several key components essential for attracting traffic and converting the traffic into leads.
There are many things you need to thoroughly check before hitting the “Publish” button that are so easy to overlook. Let’s outline a list of action steps you will need to take before publishing your blog posts. I’m sure you will find it useful especially for those “pillar” articles that you put so much time and effort in to.
Keywords are Key! As we’ve learned, keywords rule the search engines and are the best way to maximize your traffic. Use the same keywords that other popular blogs or businesses are using to drive their traffic and increase their rankings on the web. You want to make sure that the keywords you choose don’t have too much competition. This way your content will have a realistic chance of getting on the first page of Google instead of getting lost in the crowd.
Your headlines are probably more important than the content itself because your title will draw in your visitor and turn them into a reader! If your headlines and titles don’t trigger curiosity no one is going to take the time to read your posts. It’s just a fact when you are competing against so much other great content on the Internet. Capture the readers attention by offering something of great value, something that makes them curious to know more. It can be witty, it can be emotional, it can be controversial. Whatever your headline is, make sure it is something that makes you want to read more. Also, don’t forget to include your targeted keywords in your title. This will help you with search engine optimization.
Linking to previous posts inside your blog is a great way to help your visitors navigate through your blog and find additional nuggets of content that can help them solve their challenges. It’s also a good practice for search engine
optimization allowing the search engine spiders to crawl your site more efficiently, allowing them to understand your content through the link anchor text. Your links can, naturally, point to your internal and landing pages to help you generate more leads from your content. Always, always, always, make sure that before you hit “publish” you take the time to link to older posts.
Some people are so afraid of linking to other sites for fear they’ll lose their reader. This is so far from the truth. Don’t be afraid to link to external websites when it’s helpful and appropriate. If your content is valuable and solid, you will only be enhancing someone’s learning experience by linking to relevant resources. For example, if you mention a tool in your blog post that helped you get winning results, link to it. If you mention a term or phrase that others may not be familiar with, link to Wikipedia, or a source that explains that term in greater detail. You can even link to an online dictionary.
Now that you’ve included both internal and external links you want to make sure they are not broken. Check to make sure your links are working properly. I use a nifty WordPress Plugin called Broken Link Checker. It automatically checks your posts, comments and other content for broken links and missing images, and notifies you if any are found. This is a really cool way to monitor your blog. It’s so easy to make a small mistake that results in a broken link and the impact on the reader and even your pocketbook can be significant. I remember I was promoting a hot new affiliate product and didn’t check my link to make sure it was working properly. Come to find out I had added an extra http:// in the html code. I can only imagine how much money I lost and how frustrated my visitors were when they couldn’t get to the information page.
In the first week of launch I had hundreds of people clicking the link but made no sales because they couldn’t get to the sales page. I’ve double and triple checked my links from that point on. It’s as simple as hitting “Preview” in WordPress and clicking on all the links to make sure they are working and pointing to the correct URL.
WordPress allows you to customize or edit your slug or permalink to each of your blog posts. Take advantage of this feature to ensure your permalinks are concise, and that they contain your targeted keywords. For your internal page URLs, separate individual keywords with dashes (‐). For example: http://andreabolder.com/facebook‐marketing is a good URL that captures ‘marketing’ and ‘facebook’ as keywords. Eliminate filler words such as a, of, the, etc. This will give your permalinks a clean look and help with SEO, increasing your traffic from the search engines.
A picture is worth a thousand words, so use an image in the body of your content that will entice people to read the rest of your post. Pictures are great for helping with search engine optimization and can also bring you some traffic from the Google Image search. Also consider adding other forms of media that can make a blog article more memorable and fun to read. It also helps to break up the text to make it more pleasing to the eye. In addition to adding at least one image try incorporating slideshow presentations, video, audio and info‐graphics.
Make sure your article is well written and formatted in a way that is easy to read. If you do not take the time to read your post in it’s entirety you a) won’t find grammatical errors and spelling mistakes b) won’t be able to tell if it makes
sense c) won’t be able to tell if the paragraphs are in the best order and d) you won’t be able to tell if your message is being conveyed as you intended it to. So read and reread what you’ve written from title to signature before you hit the publish button.
Driving traffic is the name of the game and if you want to drive readers to your site then you need to make sure your post is as robust and complete as possible. Does your blog posts give in depth explanations and descriptions? Do you outline actions steps and provide supplemental content that fulfills the readers expectations? Use header tags and bullet points to break up content into sections. The goal is to make sure that your blog post is valuable to potential readers.
The mark of a great blog is visitor interaction. When you can come to a blog and it feels alive you know there is some great content being shared. Every blogger’s goal is to build a community around their blog and engaging visitors with your valuable content is one of the best ways to do this. Ask questions at the end of your post, prompt readers to take action by sharing your content ‐ Each and every blog article you publish should include a relevant call‐to‐action in the article to help boost lead generation ‐ and reply to as many readers’ comments as you can. This let’s them know you are a real person that genuinely cares about what they think. Business blogging creates a platform for attracting organic traffic and engaging with your audience. The primary goal of your blog should be to drive conversions by adding call‐to‐actions to your posts and have them link to landing pages that provide downloadable access to more in‐depth learning materials, such as an ebook or webinar.
With the emergence of Web 2.0, the Internet provides business owners and online entrepreneurs with a set of tools that allows them to build social and business connections, share information and collaborate on projects online. You can build relationships online by creating profiles on web sites such as Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, YouTube, and LinkedIn, which are designed for networking purposes. These web sites allow you to communicate with other people with similar interests to you. They might live in the same area as you. Perhaps they have the same profession as you, support the similar causes or perhaps they attended the same college as you. By utilizing these websites you can connect with people that could potentially become prospects for your business. Social media has become a platform that is easily accessible to anyone with an Internet connection, opening doors for network marketers to increase their brand and company awareness. Additionally, social media serves as a relatively inexpensive platform for implementing marketing campaigns as most just require your name, email address and password to set up an account. Social media marketing is a powerful business building tool that has made it possible to connect and establish partnerships with TARGETED people across the globe that you would not have access to otherwise. All you need is one hour a day...Pretty simple huh! The most popular platforms include: •Blogs •Facebook •Twitter •LinkedIn •Flicker •Pinterest •Google+ •YouTube
If you haven’t already done so, go out right now and set up your social networking accounts so you can start building your online presence. It may take a little while but you will want to have these accounts set up to maximize your social media marketing plan. I suggest creating a new gmail account separate from your personal email account so that you can filter all correspondence from social media marketing to a designated inbox folder. While social media sites, like Google+ and Pinterest, are changing the social media landscape, let’s concentrate on understanding the 3 major social media marketing platforms ‐ Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn.
Facebook is one of the most effective FREE marketing strategies for marketers online if you know what you are doing! Facebook serves as a powerful platform for building a community of fans, followers and business partners who advocate for your business and brand.

Remember that social media marketing is all about building relationships and Facebook is the ultimate platform for that but keep in mind that people buy into you first before they buy your product, your service or your business opportunity!
Connect and engage with them in a way that shows them you really care and it will be a jumping‐off point for your business success online. You want to promote YOU as a leader, an expert, and a person who can bring value into their world and solve their problems. This is the ONLY way to use Facebook effectively and really the ONLY way to MARKET EFFECTIVELY in our industry, period.
Twitter can be great for helping you get traffic to blogs, articles, and improve your SEO as well as help you build an online presence. Twitter is a social network where people share content within 140‐character messages. Users “follow” or subscribe to each other’s updates and can receive messages. To get started with Twitter, go to twitter.com to sign up for a free account. Here are a few tips for setting up a business twitter account: Set up Your Profile: Use the name of you business as your twitter username. If you are a solo‐brand use your name if it’s available. Be creative with your bio and make sure you include your website link. You want to relate to people, so don’t put anything in your profile that categorizes you as a salesperson. A link to your blog or website is recommended but if you don’t have a blog use link to your YouTube Channel or Facebook page. Do not link to a sales page! Make sure you upload a friendly professional picture or business logo. Set up a professional Twitter background that provides additional information about your business. Check out odesk.com, elance.com or fiverr.com (one of my absolute favorites) to outsource the creation of your page. Start Connecting: Use tools like HootSuite, TweetDeck or SocialOomph to determine industry influencers and potential customers that your business should follow. For more tips on how to use twitter for business, grab our Free Twitter For Small Business Guide‐ Twitter Marketing For The Small Business & Solo‐Brand.
Hootsuite: Using a tool like Hootsuite allows you to save keyword searches as a live stream so you won’t miss out on what’s being said about your brand, your industry and your products.
Google Alerts: set up multiple google Alerts for your company, brand, products, leaders, industry terms, etc. the alerts will get delivered directly to your email inbox at the frequency you indicate (e.g., daily or as they happen) and they are a great way to track mentions of your brand and relevant keywords on the web.
Affiliate marketing programs are an integral part of your Internet Marketing Game plan and a key component to creating wealth online. Most business owners and online marketers do not take advantage of "affiliate marketing" and have no clue just how powerful a strategy it is for generating leads and upfront cash for their business. Many small businesses begin with shoe string budgets or little to no marketing budget at all. Promoting affiliate products can make you a lot of “right‐now” money while generating a consistent income with your primary business, which can take some time to build. This is where affiliate marketing can help? Affiliate marketing is one of the easiest and simplest ways to start generating income on the Internet. This means that when someone else creates a product, like an ebook or course, you can sell it and make a commission (typically 40‐50%) without having to do any of the work creating it. Affiliate marketing requires little effort, is automated and you can get started right away. When you generate leads for your business online, the fact is that most (95%) of the leads are not going to purchase from you or become a customer. Therefore smart business owners have learned how to supplement their incomes by directing the leads they generate to affiliate programs and this gives them the opportunity to earn affiliate marketing commissions. Just because your prospect won't buy YOUR particular product or service, doesn't mean they don't have any interest in other tools and resources related to your business.
How does this work? After you start your blog and the process of building a list, you can start promoting products and services within just a couple weeks. In addition to promoting to your list, you can also promote affiliate products directly from your blog by tactfully placing affiliate banners or links on your pages and within your content. When visitors stop by your blog or site and start reading your content, you can refer them to products and services that you are an affiliate for. If you notice on my personal blog, www.AndreaBolder.com, I have a page devoted specifically to ‘Resources’ where you will find the products and services that I personally use to build my online business and recommend for Internet entrepreneurs. What Affiliate Products Should You Promote? You may be wondering which affiliate products you should be promoting. Only promote products and services that are relevant and bring value to your target audience. You can head over to www.ClickBank.com, which is the #1 Affiliate Center online and do a search for affiliate products that are available for you to sell in your specific niche. Also stay up in the loop on big product launches by a well‐known marketers or industry leaders in your niche. When they introduce a new hot new product or course, get an affiliate link, and promote it to your followers and your email list… After just a couple short months of building relationships, you’ll be shocked at how well you can do. Affiliate Marketing Commissions As an affiliate marketer you are rewarded for each product sale generated through your personal affiliate link. While most affiliate products offer a one time commission based on an initial sale, some affiliate products offer commissions if the product is a service that customers have to subscribe to monthly.
You’ve launched your blog, set up your social media profiles and affiliate programs. You’ve been promoting your content and driving traffic to your content, products and services now it’s time to start converting that traffic to sales. To do this, decide on a compelling offer for your prospects, create a call‐to‐ action to promote your offer, and launch a landing page with a form for visitors to submit their information. Wash and repeat. In this section, we will focus on creating a solid marketing funnel to grow your business.
Offer a stellar freebie as a way to get people to subscribe. You have to give to get! Your irresistible offer is known as you “lead magnet” and it can be a free how‐to video course, a set of audios, a PDF report, a webinar series or eBook. This is the most important part of your campaign. It’s the initial attraction that catches the attention of your website visitors and gives them a reason to fill out the form used to collect their information. The important thing to remember is that your free offer should overwhelm your subscriber with value. I can not emphasize how important this principle this. When creating your irresistible offer, you should actually feel like you are giving away too much information. When you are done putting together your offer create a product you could charge for, then give it away for FREE.
Your irresistible offer is a critical component to your success as an internet marketer and your it should target the type of sales lead you’re trying to attract. Product‐focused offers can include a custom consultation, free trial or demo of your product.
You’ve decided on your offer not it’s time to get your visitors to move to action. Create a few different compelling calls‐to‐action ‐ a button, link or optin box that grabs a visitor’s attention and directs them to your landing or sales page. Calls‐to‐action are located everywhere‐‐on website pages in the form of links and banner ads. You can place them in emails and blog posts, within your offers, etc. They are the key catalyst behind lead generation. When a lead lands on your page, a visitor is prompted to complete what’s called an opt in form by entering their contact information and other details in order to receive what’s your irresistible offer. Through this information exchange the visitor converts into a lead and you can now follow up with them as they become a part of your sales and marketing funnel. If you have an effective call‐to‐action, you’ll convert a high percentage of your website visitors into leads.
Your landing page is where your website visitors arrive after they click on your call‐to‐ action, and where they will fill out the form to receive your offer. Check to make sure all of your call to action links are properly redirecting to the appropriate landing pages. Landing pages house the opt in form visitors fill out in order to access your offer. The information you ask for in this form will be used by you or your sales team to follow up with these leads.
Once users submit their information on the landing page, they should be redirected to a thank‐you page where they can access the offer. In addition to the form, a landing page should feature a clear description of the offer, preferably with an image so they can get a good idea of what they will be getting by opting in. If you’re giving away a free guide, have the call to action read, “Download Our Free Guide To XYZ.” If you’re hosting a free webinar, say “Register for our FREE webinar on XYZ.” XYZ should clearly convey a compelling benefit of receiving the offer. Here is an example of a landing page on my Facebook Business Page:
In order to improve your conversion process, you need to constantly test, measure and experiment with your opt in forms, landing pages and call‐to‐ action copy.
Pay attention to the click‐ through rate of your call‐to‐action, conversion rate of your landing page and the number of new leads and sales an offer resulted in. If a call‐to‐action has been on your homepage for a month, tweak the messaging or swap out an entirely new call‐to‐action, and after another month, measure which one performed best. If your conversions are low, make a change to the page layout and measure the results. Don’t be afraid to test different variations; you can always switch back if the old version worked better. Note: Make one change at a time. This way you’ll know exactly which variable is contributing to the change in your conversion rates.
Understand that you are not the only marketer or company out there vying for your prospects’ attention. You will come to realize that the pond is smaller than you actually think, especially among the best in your industry. Those that find success online maximize on their ability to connect with their list, those that don’t are faced with Internet failure. As easy as it is for people to opt‐in and subscribe to your list, it is even easier for them to unsubscribe from it. Your first priority is giving them what they want, making sure they are happy and look forward to reading your email messages. You must nurture your leads, take care of them and make them feel like they can’t achieve their goals without your expert guidance. The best way to be successful as an internet marketer is to send high quality, value packed emails on a regular basis. Now you may say this sounds like a lot of work, but it really isn’t. The key to creating a great email is to re‐purpose your best content or send an email that links to a video or one of your popular blog posts. Sending subscribers an eBook, worksheet, or step‐by‐step video tutorial is a great way to provide them with solutions to some of the most challenging problems your readers face.
Understand that not all leads are created equal and each will be at a different stage in the buying process. Some leads come into your funnel hotter than others, ready to make a purchase while most will be the a research mode.
In addition to building relationships with your current leads you always want to be in the mode of growing your existing email list. One of the biggest challenges even for experienced Internet marketers is creating opt‐in opportunities. What’s so valuable about your marketing offer? What interesting and unique information will they receive in your email newsletter? Be detailed and specific, laying out the benefit(s) in a language your audience will understand. List building success tips to grow by: •Only send messages to people who have explicitly opted in •Send emails that are relevant to the interests of your contacts. •Show your personality and be authentic. Be personal in your communication. Use a real email sender name and add a personal signature. Personalize the message so the recipient remembers how and why they came to your website. •Show you readers you appreciate them: For example, start with “you recently checked out our ebook…” or “thanks for subscribing to our blog!” •Make sure that every message adds value. Are you emailing them just to tell them how great your product is? or are you offering to help them solve their problem? •Make the value clear in the email body and subject line. •Don’t rely on images to make the sale. By default, many email clients don’t load images automatically, so if your email is one large image, your recipient won’t have any idea what it’s about! Use images as supplementary (clickable) content in your email, and make sure you have enough text to communicate value.
•Be consistent in your communication. Whether you send your messages daily, weekly, or monthly, pick a schedule and stick to it.
People get BORED very quickly! One of the biggest mistakes businesses make is sending the same offers over and over again to their list. Do NOT keep sending the same offers to your subscribers. You should rotate your collection of offers and introduce new ones that you can promote on a regular basis. You do not want to send your list the same promotion every week. Why? They’ve either purchased the product or they haven’t and if they are not purchasing the product on email # 10, they are not going to purchase it from you on email #110. I suggest introducing a new product or variation of an existing product to your list every month. Note: You still want to promote your flagship products that are popular, bringing in money and are of great value but it’s just as important to add some “new flavor” to your arsenal, because you just never know what your list is going to love. So test different offers, see which ones attract the most attention. Get rid of any offers that your subscribers “don’t respond to” but every once in a while try re‐introducing them…the composition of you email list can change and what doesn’t work today may be your biggest seller tomorrow.
