La Regla de Palo Monte or Kimbanda is a religion originating in the Great Lakes region of eastern equatorial Africa.

Igualmente de enigmático es MBUMBA LOANGO. El agua salada o dulce es su habitat y sus lagunas tienen la reputación de ser muy peligrosas para quienes se acercan a ellas. es una entidad cruel y dictatorial. se convierte automáticamente en un Nganga. aunque en nada se parezcan a ellos. por lo general. se mezclan con los vivos y. poderoso espíritu reverenciado . NKADI MPEMBA. Quien a riesgo de su vida. y se sirvieron de él para designar a Satanas. relatan a partir de los testimonios recogidos por los Bakongos. visión y también cambio. dicen los Bakongos. sin necesitar iniciación. a los que a menudo se les confunden con los espíritus de los muertos. NKUYU significa espectro. Los SIMBI se manifiestan en torrentes o inundaciones súbitas que arrazan chozas y cosechas. y éstos a su vez divididos en numerosos subgrupos funsionales. Los cronistas. les denominan Wije o Jigwe. En el mundo de los muertos. el jefe de los SIMBI es llamado MPULU BUNZI. sino que andan errantes por el mundo de los vivos y son suceptibles a ser capturados por un Nganga.

De dichas personas se dice que tienen la facultad de convertirse en animales de conocida ferocidad. otra en la Habana. de los cuales nacieron otros muchos. A estos les denominan NKISI-NZI y son atendidos por el NTOMA-NZI. No pocos estudiosos sostienen que se trata de deidades traidas por los primeros bantúes que se asentaron en la zona. la mayoría de sus divinidades eran femeninas. las lagunas. Éstos procrearon los que. Dicho amuleto (Makuto Panga Dilongo) es hecho de ébano carbonero con ingredientes magicos y una oración. las rocas y los bosques. Fueron ellos los que compusieron. en honor a los nueve reinos sagrados del dominio de Manikongo. una fuerza transmisible por consaguineidad. Cabindas fueron destinados a plantaciones de caña.en la zona de Mayombe. los primeros nueve (9) Zinkisi. quien oculta su verdadera apariencia bajo el disfraz de una serpiente que vivía junto al agua. cocodrilos. El único objeto mágico que necesitan estas personas es un amuleto que los ayuda a operar su metamorfosis. Las personas con dicho poder eran también llamadas NDOKI. a Cuba transportados a la fuerza en los navios de las empresas europeas. llegarían a ser los fundamentos de las Reglas de Palo Monte en Cuba. una en Santa Clara. aunque nos parece que mejor podría describirse como espíritus de la naturaleza divinizados. Estas personas son llamadas en Cuba kagweiro (cagüeiro). otra en Camagüey y las dos últimas en . que es lo mismo que el NGANGA NKISI. La presencia en las américas de un grupo numeroso de esclavos pertenecientes a los diversos clanes Bakongos del Reino del Manikongo ya es conocida por todos. sino a un poder. leopardos. que permite a quienes lo poseyeran o recibieran dominar a los espíritus de sus parientes muertos sin precisar objeto mágico alguno. cientos de Congos. símbolo de la proliferación. Estos espíritus de la naturaleza no habitan ni Nkuyu. Si bien los clanes de pescadores Bakongos del territorio que hoy se conoce como Cabinda rendían culto a los antepasados. Ngolas. café y tabaco. Eran llamadas espíritus madres y su origen parece ser muy remoto. Dos de ellas fueron hechas en la provincia de Pinar del Río. Desembarcados en distintos puntos de Cuba. entre otras islas caribeñas. sino la tierra. También arribaron. ni Nkisi. y estaban directamente asociadas con la naturaleza. junto con aquellas prendas originales. En el Reino Manikongo. No fué exclusivamente en Brasil a donde fueron a parar los Bakongos capturados en el Reino del Manikongo. o serpientes de gran tamaño. ni a un espíritu. dos en Matanzas. el término NDOKI no designa a ningún espectro. cuya devoción ha sobrevivido allí hasta nuestros días.

Matamba. identificada con Oyá de los Yorubas y con La Virgen de la Candelaria católica. Las dos de Pinar del Río se nombran NDUMBO A NZINGA y MANANGA. de los Bakongos a Cuba. que correspondií a la dueña de las centellas. pero aún queda el culto a Nzambi y los espíritus de la naturaleza bastante parecido al África Bantú. . El segundo Nkisi servía a los esclavos congos de la hacienda “La Candelaria” de San francisco Javier Pedroso. Centella Ndoki. famoso cimarrón que montó la prenda. Ésta recibió el nombre de MANAWANGA o MARIWANGA. y sus terrenos.
