State and prove Bayes theorem of probability. In a single throw of two dice, what is the probability of obtaining a sum of atleast 10? Define random variable, discrete probability distribution, continuous probability distribution and cumulative distribution. Give an example of each. Assume that 50% of all engineering students are good in mathematics. Determine the probabilities that among 18 engineering students (i) Exactly 10 (ii) Atleast 10 (iii) Atmost 8 (iv) Atleast 2 and atmost 9, are good in mathematics. Define Poisson distribution and find its variance and the mean. Find the mean and standard deviation of a normal distribution in which 7% of items are under 35 and 89% are under 63. A random sample of 6 steel beams has a mean compressive strength of 58,392 psi (pounds per square inch) with a standard deviation of 648 psi. Use this information and level of significance = 0.05 to test whether the true average compressive strength of the steel form which this sample came is 58,000 psi. Measurements of the fat content of two kinds of ice cream, Brand A and Brand B, yielded the following sample data: Brand A (%) 13.5 14 13.6 12.9 13 Brand B (%) 12.9 13 12.4 13.5 12.7 Test the null hypothesis 1 = 2 (where 1 and 2 are the respective true average fat contents of the two kinds of ice cream) against the alternative hypothesis 1 2 at the level of significance = 0.05.
