Foreword by: Captain Mac McDonaldUnit Welfare Officer

Welcome to the new PDF version of Any Old Iron. Unfortunately due to cost reductions in stationary and that of reproduction, we have been requested to reduce the size of the Newsletter to a maximum of 5 pages of A4. Clearly this would mean the removal of all local offers / activities. Instead of doing this we have decided to produce the Newsletter in PDF form and send out via Email, ensuring you all continue to receive local informationyou will still receive the Drumbeat via a letter box drop. Please rest assured we will not be sending hundreds of Emails a month, instead you will just be receiving the Newsletter and only information which I believe is of critical importance. In addition to this and as a means of allowing an element of choice to people, I have decided to establish a formal 3 (UK) Div HQ and Sig Regt Facebook site. With a launch date of approximately 1 May 2012. The site will be a one way facility to allow us to provide a Blogg keeping you all up to date on information I receive on a daily basis. I will produce a users guide for this shortly and publish it within the Mays edition of Any Old Iron. Finally a warm welcome to the new Commanding Officer, Lt Col Paul Griffiths R SIGNALS, Amanda and their son Guy. Welcome to the Regiment!

Terry Gosden a professional Golf Coach operating out of Tidworth Golf course is offering free golf lessons on Wednesday afternoons to all military personnel. There are 2 sessions available: 1300-1400 and 1400-1500. The lessons are specifically designed for new and intermediate players; probably not suitable for scratch players. There is no catch or hidden cost in this; he has received funding from the English Golf Union. The Club hopes that some participants might catch the bug and take the game up in due course but there is absolutely no pressure going to be placed on people to join. If interested you should contact Terry Gosden to arrange their attendance at a session using either: 01980 84393 -, or call in at the pros shop at the club to see him and fix up their instruction.
