The movie we chose to comment on the second mini project of course has the title "Avatar."
AVATAR is an American science fiction film of 2009, was written and directed by the director of the movie "Titanic" James Cameron. Currently he is the highest grossing film in history, surpassing the "TITANIC". Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldana are the main protagonists. 40% of the scenes were filmed with real actors however the remaining 60% were created in Computer Graphics.
The film was released in 2009 but it began to be produced by James Cameron in 1994 where his debut was originally expected to 1999. According to the director the necessary technology to produce the film was not available so he opted to wait until the necessary conditions to design a dream vision of a historical film production. It was the first film to be viewed with 3D technology. "Avatar" is a story of redemption and discovery that combines the best and the worst of mortals, discovering a world where the magic of Mother Nature is our greatest gift. It is in 2154 and in the distant world of Pandora that the plot takes place, starting a war between humans and humanoid race called Na'vi, to reach the planet's natural resources. A story that encourages us to reflect on the excessive ambition of man to get the greatest treasure of Mother Nature. In this film are projected two types of human ideals: the construction and destruction. While some destroyed, others are dedicated to protect, build and serve. Avatar is considered a film that tries to change the minds shut and shakes the more open minds. So this movie discusses concepts such as peace, balance and tolerance between peoples with different cultures, values and behaviors. From our point of view the symbolism of this story or what it wants to transmit is beyond the technical limits and graphs of world cinema. The lesson of the film is verified by the words of the poet Fernando Pessoa: "Man is the size of your dreams ", which is found in the character of Jake Sully. Pandora is not more than the projection of a dream, in this case was and is the dream dreamed by James Cameron.
