THE TRAPPER GEORGE RACCO SCENE 1: INT. CABIN IN THE WOODS-EVENING MUSIC: ADVENTUROUS WESTERN MUSIC NARRATOR: Hello and welcome to today’s story called "The Trapper George Racco"! This time we are going to Canada, to Northern Alberta to be more exact. Right now, some trappers are in a cabin in the woods close to Buffalo Lake discussing about the trip they are taking on the next day. MUSIC: ADVENTUROUS WESTERN MUSIC SOUND: PEOPLE TALKING GEORGE RACCO: So... what time will we be starting the journey tomorrow? SAM ROBINSON: I’d say we start the journey as early as possible. The first person awake can wake all the others. We have to get there as fast as possible. BRANDON VILLARS: Yes. That is a good idea, but we should get some rest now so that we can wake up early tomorrow. MUSIC: ADVENTUROUS WESTERN MUSIC SCENE 2: INT. CABIN IN THE WOODS-MORNING SOUND: SNORING GEORGE RACCO: (LOUDLY) Everybody get up! SOUND: MOAN JOHN HOLD: Do I have to to? GEORGE RACCO: Yes, now get up!
SAM ROBINSON: Hmmm. This is weird. Brandon isn’t up yet. Normally he is the earliest of us all. I’ll go check if everything is fine with him. SOUND: SILENCE SAM ROBINSON: He feels sick and says he can’t get up. He says we should go without him. GEORGE RACCO: OK. Fine, but it is a pity. We could have used a great Trapper like him. SOUND: OPENING AND CLOSING DOOR MUSIC: ADVENTUROUS WESTERN MUSIC SCENE 3: EXT. IN THE FOREST-EVENING NARRATOR: The three trappers have just started their journey to the Great Slave Lake. Brandon Villars sadly had to stay in the lodge, even though he could have been useful as the second best trapper in the cabin. MUSIC: ADVENTUROUS WESTERN MUSIC GEORGE RACCO: OK. We can stop here for a short while to get food. John, you can go get firewood and you, Sam, can build up the tents. Maybe you could also build the fire pit. JOHN HOLD: (BORED) Do I have to? SAM ROBINSON: (SAYING IT ANNOYED) Yes, John. You should know: Without firewood we can’t build a fire and without a fire we can’t cook our meat and if we can’t cook our meat we can’t eat the meat and without eating the meat we can’t live. JOHN HOLD: OK, OK. I’ll go get the firewood. MUSIC: ADVENTUROUS WESTERN MUSIC
NARRATOR: While Sam and John are busy getting the fire, George is looking for some meat to eat. SOUND: CRUNCHING LEAVES NARRATOR: He continues searching for food until... SOUND: BREAKING TWIG MUSIC: ADVENTUROUS WESTERN MUSIC SCENE 4: NARRATOR EXPLAINING, COMMERCIAL NARRATOR: What do you think will happen to George Racco next? Where will he be? The story will continue after the Commercial! MUSIC: ADVENTUROUS WESTERN MUSIC COMMERCIAL: The original beaver hats from George Racco! Buy three full hats for the price of two! CHIPEWYAN TRIBE-EVENING SOUND: NATIVE AMERICAN DRUMMING AND "SINGING" GEORGE RACCO: (SAYS SLEEPILY) Oww. My head hurts. (FAST INTAKE OF BREATH) Where am I? It looks like some kind tribe. CHIEF SWIMMING BEAVER: You my daughter killed! You to all traitor! GEORGE RACCO: How could you think so badly of me? I did nothing and would never do such a thing to anyone! CHIEF SWIMMING BEAVER: Where you get chief daughter’s amulet from then?
GEORGE RACCO: Brandon Villars gave it to me when we left the cabin close to Buffalo Lake. He gave it to me as a luck charm... CHIEF SWIMMING BEAVER: Who my daughter then killed? GEORGE RACCO: I guess it must be Brandon Villars. CHIEF SWIMMING BEAVER: I not you believe! He is to our tribe great help! BRANDON VILLARS: Hello George. GEORGE RACCO: (MUTTERS QUIETLY TO HIMSELF) I do hope John and Sam go looking for me soon. Otherwise I will die by the next sunrise. MUSIC: ADVENTUROUS WESTERN MUSIC SCENE 6: EXT. CHIPEWYAN TRIBE-NIGHT (EVERYTHING SAID QUIETLY) SAM ROBINSON: Walk as softly as possible now. We’re nearly there. JOHN HOLD: But where is George? I can’t see him from here. SAM ROBINSON: Maybe we should go look on the other side of the He might be held captive at a tree there. SOUND: SOFT FOOTSTEPS JOHN HOLD: There he is! SAM ROBINSON: Shh. Not so loud! JOHN HOLD: Oh right. Sorry SOUND: CUTTING OF ROPE camp.
GEORGE RACCO: Ahh. Finally the rope is cut off and I am free once again. I was already thinking where you were. SAM ROBINSON: Sorry. We first had to find out who took you and then follow the track. Doing that is actually quite challenging in the dark. GEORGE RACCO: It’s OK. Let’s just make the Chipewyan believe that I did not kill the daughter of the Chief. MUSIC: ADVENTUROUS WESTERN MUSIC NARRATOR: George, Sam and John have just disappeared into the dark. They have to find a way to show the Chipewyan that Brandon is their enemy. SCENE 7: EXT. CLOSE TO THE CHIPEWYAN TRIBE-DAWN SOUND: YAWN GEORGE RACCO: John, Sam if you like it or not I’m going back to the Chipewyan. When I was bound to the tree I recognized a Native that I knew from the past. His name is Big Bear and he is one of the few elders of the village. I think I should talk to him although there is a risk involved after what happened yesterday. JOHN HOLD: I don’t have a better idea and I think it is great that you have the courage to do this. Sam and I will cover your back. SAM ROBINSON: OK. Let’s go! MUSIC: ADVENTUROUS WESTERN MUSIC NARRATOR: The three approach the Chipewyan tepees silently and George sneaks into Big Bear’s tent. SOUND: COVERED MOUTH NOISE GEORGE RACCO: I’m sorry that I am doing this, but I have to talk to you. Promise that you don’t make any loud noises until I have had a chance to explain. (CONTINUED)
SOUND: NODDING (YES) NARRATOR: George explains his situation and points out to Big Bear that Brandon has most probably killed the Chief’s daughter with the help of another Native. BIG BEAR: How you know? You amulet had! You have proof? GEORGE RACCO: Come. Please follow me. I’ve seen Brandon talking with someone of this tribe when I came here through the woods. BIG BEAR: OK. I follow, but if no evidence I will be after you. NARRATOR: Big Bear follows George and they sneaked off to the woods. From afar they see Brandon with the Native and Big Bear directly notices who it is. BIG BEAR: It’s Flying Knife! GEORGE RACCO: Who is he? BIG BEAR: He is a young, striving Chipewyan thinking he is better than the rest. GEORGE RACCO: Let’s get closer so we can hear what they are saying. Then we can find out more about their plans. SOUND: CRAWLING BRANDON VILLARS: We should have watched out better! George Racco has disappeared and this puts us into a difficult situation since he can now find evidence that we have killed the Chief’s daughter. He will be after us very soon and might find out what our plans are. NARRATOR: Big Bear goes back, together with George, to the tribe. They go to the Chief’s tent and Big Bear wakes Swimming Beaver. At first, he is outraged that George is freed again, but this is soon settled when Big Bear describes the situation. The Chief rallies everyone and tells them what had happened. Also, the (MORE) (CONTINUED)
NARRATOR: (cont’d) Chief tells his people to go back to their tents and wait for Brandon and Flying Knife to come back from the forest. Brandon and Flying Knife get caught. George, John and Sam are welcomed back to the tribe.
