Many training institutes are at present working in Bangladesh. These are both for employee training and for management or executives training. Military Institute of Science and Technology (MIST):


Military Institute of Science and Technology (MIST), the pioneer Technical Institutes of Armed Forces, started its journey from 19 April 1998. It was the visionary leadership of the Honorable Prime Minister of Peoples Republic of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina to establish a Technical Institute of Armed Forces. Accordingly, the Honorable Prime Minister, Peoples Republic of Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina unveiled the Foundation Plaque on 19 April 1998. MIST is located at Mirpur Cantonment, which is on the northwest of Dhaka City. Mirpur Cantonment is well known to be as an Education Village of Bangladesh Armed Forces, a hub of knowledge for military and civil professionals. First Academic Program at MIST was launched on 31 January 1999 with the maiden batch of Civil Engineering (CE). The pioneer batch comprised of only military students. Computer Science & Engineering (CSE) Program got underway from February 2000. Following those Programs, Electrical, Electronic & Communication Engineering (EECE) and Mechanical Engineering (ME) Programs including induction of Civil Students (both male and female) to various disciplines started from the session 2002-2003. Aeronautical Engineering (AE) program started at MIST from Academic Session 2008-2009. Foreign students from Sri Lanka were admitted for the first time in the same Academic Session. Presently students from Maldives, Palestine and Afghanistan are also studying different Engineering Programs in five Engineering Departments. MIST enters into the domain of Online Admission System since 06 Sep 2010. It was inaugurated by Major General Tarique Ahmed Siddique, rcds, psc (Retd), Defence Adviser to the Honourable Prime Minister. MIST envisages creating facilities for military as well as civil students from home and abroad dedicated to pursue standard curriculum leading to Graduation Degree. As an Institution without any gender biasness, MIST is already on steady stride upholding its motto Technology for Advancement. MIST remains committed to contributing to the wider spectrum of National Educational Arena and play a significant role in the development of Human Resources and ardently pursuing its goal to grow into a Centre of Excellence. MIST has well equipped class rooms with multimedia and web camera with internet facilities and Laboratories with modern equipments. The medium of instruction for all engineering programs is English. All academic programs of MIST are affiliated with the Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP) and have close cooperation with Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) and Dhaka University (DU). Intake of students in each of the B.Sc. Engineering Program of CE, CSE, EECE, ME and AE at undergraduate level is 65. Academic Session of MIST normally starts in the last week of January. Admission process starts in

September/October and Admission Test held in November every year. Admission formalities are completed by December/January. The total number of intake in a year is 325. In general about 50% seats are allocated to Armed Forces Officers. MIST has few other miscellaneous facilities such as Medical Centre, Fitness Centre, Cyber Caf, Library and Students Accommodation (Male & Female).

Institute of Business Administration IBA


IBA was founded in 1966 in collaboration with Indiana University, Bloomington, USA, under a Ford Foundation Financial Assistance Program with the objective of providing professional training to provide graduate level education to students. It is widely regarded as the best business school in the country. From its inception in 1966 until 1993, the Masters of Business Administration (MBA) was the academic program offered by IBA. In 1993, after a review initiated by Professor Dr. M Shamsul Haque (Former Director, IBA; and former Treasurer, Dhaka University), a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) program was added. Prior to that, in 1970s, the M.Phil and Ph.D. programs were introduced. IBA has so far had 20 BBA batches and 46 MBA batches. In 2007, IBA introduced an Executive MBA (EMBA) program to meet the huge demand for quality education in EMBA. There are plans to revamp the BBA program (offering double majors, for example), too. It is the first educational institution in Bangladesh to introduce semester system in contrast of year long traditional system of Bangladesh.
The Institute of Business Administration of the University of Dhaka - commonly known as IBA - is a government funded institution for business-education in the South Asian Country of Bangladesh. It was established in 1966 in collaboration with the Karachi IBA, the Ford Foundation, and Indiana University, Bloomington but is currently only affiliated with the University of Dhaka. Late Professor M. Safiullah was the founder-director of IBA. IBA pioneered Business Administration education in Bangladesh. It also pioneered Semester and credit based education system in Bangladesh.

Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Bangladesh (ICMAB)


The Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Bangladesh (ICMAB) at Nilkhet, Dhaka, Bangladesh is the only institution in the country dedicated to Cost and Management Accounting education and research. It is managed as an autonomous professional body under the Ministry of Commerce. As well as education, it is also engaged in regulating and promoting the profession of cost and management accounting in Bangladesh. The Institute is managed by a National Council of 16 members. It is a member of the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC), Confederation of Asian and Pacific Accountants (CAPA), and South Asian Federation of Accountants (SAFA). ICMAB members are known as CMAs with their designatory title ACMA and FCMA. They play leading roles in the accountancy and finance profession in Bangladesh. 30% of members live and work in UK, USA, Canada, Australia and Gulf Countries. ICMAB UK Chapter is a lively forum for members working in the UK. Rupali Bank Training Institute (RBTI) Rupali Bank Training Institute (RBTI) was established on 5th July 1976. Since inception till today total number of 20735 Officers and Staff were trained in various courses/workshops in different subject at different periods. Rupali Bank Training Institute (RBTI) conducted eighteen general course and six computer course during 2009. More than six hundred officers participate on those courses. Rupali Bank Training Institute (RBTI) gives emphasis on foundation course for newly recruited probationary officers and course on computer operation in bank.

Bangladesh Institute of Bank Management (BIBM)


The Bangladesh Institute of Bank Management (BIBM) is the premier institute in Bangladesh for acquiring and exercising banking knowledge. It is an educational, training and research institution in bank management supported and supervised by the Bangladesh Bank (central bank of Bangladesh) and almost all the leading banks and a few financial institutions of Bangladesh. Established as a national level training institute in the banking sector in 1974 under the Societies Act, 1860. BIBM caters primarily to the requirements of training of the mid and senior-level officers of banks and financial institutions. In collaboration with the National University, BIBM provides quality education leading to a Masters in Bank Management (MBM) degree for freshers and professionals; a demanding discipline in the banking-job market in Bangladesh. Besides, the institute conducts workshops, seminars, round table discussions and undertakes research on

banking and allied fields regularly and provides consultancy services to banks and other organizations on request.
