Summary of Position Plans and executes activities concerned with development, application, and maintenance of quality standards for processing materials into finished materials or product. Duties and Responsibilities 1. Plans and coordinates quality assurance systems designed to ensure continuous production of products consistent with established quality standards. 2. Supports Quality Manager in formulating and maintaining the quality assurance plans and objectives. 3. Engaged in quality functions, such as inspection, testing and quality engineering to assure continuous quality over processes and products within the Company. 4. Develops and analyzes statistical data and specifications to indicate present product and process standards, and establish proposed quality reliability expectancy of finished product. 5. Formulates and coordinates product quality standards and objectives with production procedures to obtain economic optimum product quality and reliability; this will require the use of SPC or other suitable methods. 6. Investigates and responds to customer complaints regarding product quality. 7. Perform quality engineering assignments requiring ingenuity and creativity in areas where precedents are not available. 8. Represent department in the evaluation and review of designs/engineering/manufacturing planning, and recommends revisions. 9. Identify characteristics requiring inspection, and ensure that inspection/acceptance criteria are adequately defined. 10. Make analystical, experimental, and theoretical determinations of applications of quality, engineering, and technical principles. 11. Create statistical quality systems, such as SPC or trend analysis, to control and/or improve processes.

12. Investigate and provide solutions to problems for processes and product non-conformances. 13. Perform quality audits of processes, products, and workstations within the Company. Perform quality audits of suppliers and potential suppliers. 14. Prepare, coordinate, and respond to customer audits, including providing cause and short/long term corrective actions. Implement corrective actions to successful quality standards of acceptance. 15. Provide a wide knowledge of quality principles, theories, and concepts, along with a working knowledge of other scientific disciplines. 16. Make decisions that could cause/prevent program or product delays, and affect costs and overall system quality. 17. Ability to work overtime on an as needed basis. 18. Supports Company policy, procedures, and safety policy. 19. Other duties as assigned. Interpersonal Skills Must be able to communicate effectively and interact with all levels of quality personnel, production personnel, and customers. Possess the ability to resolve quality issues in a timely and effective manner. Communication Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills to communicate effectively instructions, concepts, and solutions to all levels of employees, suppliers, and customers. Scheduling and Planning Must be able to schedule and organize time effectively to satisfactorily complete assigned tasks and functions. This includes planning for workflow and meetings to coordinate activities within the quality department and with other departments as required. Basic Job Requirements Bachelors Degree in a technical field (engineering, chemistry, physics, manufacturing/industrial technology) from an accredited college or university. Must have a minimum of 5 years industry experience (preferably in a manufacturing/aerospace environment), or 15 years of related experience and a willingness to continue higher education. Ability to perform previously stated quality activities, duties, and responsibilities with minimal supervision, in a challenging and stressful environment are essential to job performance. Equipment Operated Computer literacy, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access is beneficial but not required. Additionally, familiarity with quality inspection equipment is helpful. Physical Effort Ability to maneuver the manufacturing floor and physically obtain test samples from production areas. High Stress, as well as high internal and external visibility, are components of this position. Travel between buildings, as well as travel to domestic and international customers/vendors/seminars by car or airplane as needed.
