Position Description Development and Outreach Specialist (Level and title to be determined based on experience.

) The Center for Justice & Accountability (CJA) is an international human rights organization dedicated to deterring torture and other severe human rights abuses around the world and advancing the rights of survivors to seek truth, justice and redress. CJA uses litigation to hold perpetrators individually accountable for human rights abuses, develop human rights law, and advance the rule of law in countries transitioning from periods of abuse. Position Overview CJA is seeking an energetic, motivated, detail-oriented Development & Outreach Specialist to help cultivate and inspire people to support our work. The Development & Outreach Specialist (DOS) is responsible for implementing and improving a multi-faceted fund-development strategy (major donor program, corporate sponsorships and grassroots fundraising strategies) in order to inspire, expand and diversify the organizations funding base. The position oversees publications, website content and social media strategy. The DOS supports institutional fundraising efforts, CJAs annual event and other fundraising and public education events. The Development & Outreach Specialist reports to the Operations & Finance Director and works closely with the Executive Director, Board Members and outside key volunteers. Primary Responsibilities: Implement and improve key development and outreach functions: major donor program, individual, corporate and law firm giving, publications and events. Support the development of fundraising proposals and reports. Plan and execute strategies to move donors and prospective donors to higher levels of giving over time. Maintain and manage data in fundraising software, electronic and hard copy files. Oversee the development of marketing materials to ensure consistency with CJAs mission and program. Oversee the production of relevant content for the CJA website, social media and electronic communications to CJA supporters and other social media opportunities. Work with the Board of Directors and Event Committee to integrate fundraising as a key responsibility for all members. Maintain the annual development calendar. Support CJA's public relations and media outreach.

Professional Qualifications: 2+ years of experience in a nonprofit development department or similar work. Superior attention to detail and time-management skills. Strong interpersonal skills, especially verbal communication skills over the phone and in person. Strong writing skills; ability to draft formal correspondence to donors, foundations, and other important stakeholders. Experience managing projects that involve cross-functional teams with a diverse range of experience, expertise, skills and perspectives. Proficiency in nonprofit donor databases; experience using Giftworks is desirable. Must also be proficient in Microsoft Suite applications and basic social media applications. Strength in multi-tasking, goal-setting and workload prioritization. Bachelors degree or equivalent experience and an ongoing commitment to professional development. Ability and willingness to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends, as well as to travel occasionally. Commitment to international human rights work. Spanish proficiency is desirable.
