The Right Honourable Christopher Geidt Private Secretary of Her Majesty the Queen Buckingham Palace London, United Kingdom SW1A 1AA

Dear Mr. Geidt: The Osgoode OUTlaws is a group for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer students and their allies ("LGBTQA") at Osgoode Hall Law School of York University in Toronto, Canada. Our goals are to provide an organization for LGBTQA students to socialize in a queer-friendly atmosphere, to facilitate networking with members of the LGBTQA legal community, to provide a positive and supportive space to help students adjust to the rigours of law school, and to learn about issues that affect our community from a legal perspective. As young professionals entering the workforce, many of us will begin legal practice in workplaces that now strive to integrate diversity issues and awareness to organizational practices and culture. At the same time, some struggles persist for those in the LGBTQ community, despite recent years demonstrating a fundamental shift in societal recognition and respect for LGBTQ rights and the contributions of LGBTQ individuals to society. As we celebrate the 60th anniversary of Her Majesty's accession to the Throne, it is with a sense of promise and optimism that we extend birthday greetings to the Queen. Her Majesty remains a living symbol of our evolving Canadian identity, and consequently, our pride in continuing the progression toward a more accepting, more open, and more equal society. We would be delighted if you are able to share our message and the enclosed birthday card with the Queen, on the occasion of her official birthday in Canada, celebrated on Monday, May 21, 2012. Sincerely,

Douglas W. Judson Co-Chair, 2012/2013 Osgoode OUTlaws

Phi Nguyen Co-Chair, 2012/2013 Osgoode OUTlaws
