The WINDCATCHER systems serve the entrance foyers and gallery among other office and meeting rooms. Featured News Latest News Press Releases Product News Projects
The WINDCATCHER systems were one of several low energy innovations that needed to be successfully integrated together, extensive 3D modelling was carried out by the building services engineers to achieve the optimum solution.

Shhh! Monodraught’s Arc De Triomph!
MONDAY, 11 OCTOBER 2010 11:56
Monodraught systems had a very high score at the recently opened Wembley Park Academy, a total of 67 systems were installed! Due to noise sensitivity within the Academy, acoustics were a major consideration during the design of the ventilation strategy. AECOM were the consultants for the project, they commented that: “The Windcatchers were used primarily in

spaces where we couldn’t naturally ventilate using opening windows. For example, opening windows weren’t a viable solution in the standard classrooms due to the acoustic requirements needed to minimise noise on the site.”
New Health Brochure

After intensive planning and research, Monodraught has published a new 32-page brochure specifically devoted to the Healthcare Sector. The brochure is designed to convey the benefits and importance of having natural daylight and natural ventilation in healthcare establishments for wellbeing as well as having an informative look at the current legislation and guidelines. The brochure contains numerous case studies and outlines the benefits of using natural ventilation and daylight when considering energy consumption and carbon emissions. Particular reference is made to BREEAM as well as various energy saving directives. The 32-page booklet is designed to give guidance to both the Specifier and Customer alike and to provide a simple straightforward explanation as to how people involved in the Healthcare sector can benefit from our systems. Dr Jones, I Presume . . . .
MONDAY, 11 OCTOBER 2010 11:48
Monodraught Research Engineer Benjamin Jones recently completed an Engineering Doctorate (EngD) in Environmental Technologies from Brunel University sponsored by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) and Monodraught. The EngD is a four-year programme that combines environmentally-focused research with industrial experience, and personal and professional development. Benjamin’s research was centred on Monodraught’s WINDCATCHER® Natural ventilation system. Because the air quality and indoor environment of a school classroom have been shown to affect the behaviour and performance of its occupants, WINDCATCHER systems have become very popular. The project quantified the performance of a WINDCATCHER in two main ways, firstly by measuring the main components of air quality in school classrooms ventilated by WINDCATCHERS and comparing the data against current benchmarks and secondly by developing a mathematical model to further the understanding of the air flow through a WINDCATCHER when the wind and buoyancy forces vary. AVice-Chancellor’s Travel Prize enabled Benjamin to travel and present his work at conferences in Greece and Japan, where latterly he won first prize for his poster presentation. Benjamin has also published work in academic journals and extensively in industrial literature.
Monodraught Has the X-Factor!

Monodraught has just launched the WINDCATCHER® X-Air system, which is the result of four years intensive research and development, the system bristles with innovation and a number of patented technologies. One of WINDCATCHER X-Air’s defining features includes distinctive styling and patented LED architectural lighting. The patented corner design not only increases performance but it also allows excess wind to bypass the system, reducing loading on the unit in high winds. Another innovation includes ACTIVLOUVRE® modulating aerofoil louvre technology featuring specially
