JUST A LITTLE TALK WITH
JESUS
Verse 1
I once was lost in sin, but Jesus took me in,
And then a liƩle light from heaven filled my soul;
It bathed my heart in love and wrote my name
above, And just a liƩle talk with Jesus made me
whole.
Chorus
Have a liƩle talk with Jesus, tell Him all about
Your troubles, Hear our faintest cry, answer by
and by; Feel a liƩle prayer wheel turning, know
a liƩle fire is Burning, Find a liƩle talk with Jesus
makes it right.
Verse 2
SomeƟmes my path seems drear, without a ray
of cheer, And then a cloud of doubt may hide the
light of day; The mists of sin may rise and hide the
starry skies, But just a liƩle talk with Jesus clears
the way.
Verse 3
I may have doubts and fears, my eyes be filled
with tears, But Jesus is a friend who watches day
and night, I go to Him in prayer, He knows my
ev’ry care, And just a liƩle talk with Jesus makes
it right.
11:00 A.M.
LORD, HELP ME TO HOLD
OUT
Lord, help me to hold out,
Lord, help me to hold out,
Lord, help me to hold out,

11
So he had the ark of the
LORD carried around the city, circling it once. Then
the people returned to camp and spent the night
there.
12
Joshua got up early the next morning and the
priests took up the ark of the LORD.
13
The seven
priests carrying the seven trumpets went forward,
marching before the ark of the LORD and blowing
the trumpets. The armed men went ahead of
them and the rear guard followed the ark of the
LORD, while the trumpets kept sounding.
14
So
on the second day they marched around the city
once and returned to the camp. They did this for
six days.
15
On the seventh day, they got up at daybreak
and marched around the city seven Ɵmes in the
same manner, except that on that day they circled
the city seven Ɵmes.
16
The seventh Ɵme around,
when the priests sounded the trumpet blast,
Joshua commanded the people, “Shout! For the
LORD has given you the city!

1
Now Jericho was Ɵghtly shut up because of the
Israelites. No one went out and no one came in.
2
Then the LORD said to Joshua, “See, I have
delivered Jericho into your hands, along with its
king and its fighƟng men.
3
March around the city
once with all the armed men. Do this for six days.
4
Have seven priests carry trumpets of rams’ horns
in front of the ark. On the seventh day, march
around the city seven Ɵmes, with the priests
blowing the trumpets.
5
When you hear them
sound a long blast on the trumpets, have all the
people give a loud shout; then the wall of the city
will collapse and the people will go up, every man
straight in.”
6
So Joshua son of Nun called the priests and said
to them, “Take up the ark of the covenant of the
LORD and have seven priests carry trumpets in
front of it.”
7
And he ordered the people, “Advance
! March around the city, with the armed guard
going ahead of the ark of the LORD.”
8
When Joshua had spoken to the people, the
seven priests carrying the seven trumpets before
the LORD went forward, blowing their trumpets,
and the ark of the LORD’s covenant followed
them.
9
The armed guard marched ahead of the
priests who blew the trumpets, and the rear
guard followed the ark. All this Ɵme the trumpets
were sounding.

But Joshua had commanded the
people, “Do not give a war cry, do not raise your

41
And Elijah said to Ahab, “Go, eat and drink, for
there is the sound of a heavy rain.”
42
So Ahab
went off to eat and drink, but Elijah climbed to
the top of Carmel, bent down to the ground and
put his face between his knees.
43
“Go and look
toward the sea,” he told his servant. And he went
up and looked. “There is nothing there,” he said.
Seven Ɵmes Elijah said, “Go back.”
44
The seventh Ɵme the servant reported, “A cloud
as small as a man’s hand is rising from the sea.”
So Elijah said, “Go and tell Ahab, ‘Hitch up your
chariot and go down before the rain stops you.’”
45
Meanwhile, the sky grew black with clouds, the
wind rose, a heavy rain came on and Ahab rode
off to Jezreel.
46
The power of the LORD came
upon Elijah and, tucking his cloak into his belt, he
ran ahead of Ahab all the way to Jezreel.

Rev. Courtney Clayton Jenkins currently serves
as the Pastor and Teacher of Euclid Avenue CongregaƟonal
Church, United Church of Christ in Cleveland, OH. Just six months
before Rev. Jenkins was called to serve this historical congregaƟon,
the church edifice of Euclid Avenue was struck by lightning and
the building was completely destroyed by fire. With courage,
Euclid Avenue called Rev. Jenkins to become their pastor at this
very diffi cult Ɵme. In an aƩempt to uƟlize this devastaƟng fire
as a way of allowing God to do “a new thing”, the congregaƟon
offered Rev. Jenkins the disƟnct honor of being the first African
American, first female and the youngest pastor in the history of
the church. Since the age of 27, Rev. Jenkins has been leading this congregaƟon out of the ashes by
the grace of God.
Born and raised in Cleveland Ohio, Rev Jenkins is a graduate of Spelman College with a
Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature. Rev. Jenkins received her Masters of Divinity degree
from Princeton Theological Seminary with a concentraƟon in Preaching and CongregaƟonal Ministry.
In the United Church of Christ denominaƟon, Rev. Jenkins is an ordained minister and serves
in several capaciƟes. At the age of 26, she became the Pastor of Shaker Heights Community Church,
United Church of Christ.
Rev. Jenkins has facilitated anƟ-racism training and rites of passage programs for youth.
She teaches life skills to low-income adults and incorporates African American history as a form of
building up community. Rev. Jenkins volunteers her Ɵme by teaching re-entry skills to incarcerated
women at the Northeast Pre-Release Center. She serves on the Board of Directors for Project Love/
Purple America and the Prisoner Re-entry for Northeast Pre-Release.
Rev. Courtney Clayton Jenkins is married to her seminary sweetheart Rev. Cory C. Jenkins,
Senior Pastor of the historic Shiloh BapƟst Church and a graduate of Morehouse College. Together,
Rev. Cory and Rev. Courtney travel the country facilitaƟng workshops and seminars stressing family
stabilizaƟon. They are excited about sharing a life of love and ministry together.
Rev. Courtney stays commiƩed to God’s calling and purpose upon her life. She remains
excited about God’s desire to use the next generaƟon to impact this naƟon with God’s uncondiƟonal
love and almighty power. Called for the purpose of the Kingdom, Rev. Courtney Clayton Jenkins will
conƟnue to ensure “thy Kingdom come, thy Will be done.”

What is a Trinity Freedom School?
• Trinity’s Freedom School is project partnership between Trinity UCC and Lowden Homes’
Local Advisory Council to provide a six-week summer literacy program that models the 1964
Freedom Summer concept created by Civil Rights AcƟvist, Ella Baker.
• Trinity Freedom School boosts the academic achievement of low-income and minority
students, to prepare them to compete in academically strong and diverse student
populaƟons.
• Trinity’s Freedom School is built upon: (1) High Quality Academic Enrichment, (2) Parent and
Family Involvement, (3) Social AcƟon and Civic Engagement, (4) IntergeneraƟonal Servant
Leadership Development, and (5) NutriƟon, Health and Mental Health.
• What does Trinity Freedom School need from you?
• Sign-up your children to aƩend Trinity Freedom School for six weeks this summer for an
invigoraƟng literacy program that builds self effi cacy.
• Donate resources to Trinity Freedom School (i.e. books, art supplies, paper, and classroom
decoraƟons and furniture etc.)
• Volunteers to read with students and to raise resources for Trinity Freedom School
Why should you support Trinity Freedom School?
• “An effecƟve social movement needs people who are more interested in developing the
leadership of others than in being leaders themselves.” - Ella Josephine Baker
• “Freedom is never more than one generaƟon away from exƟncƟon. We didn’t pass it to our
children in their bloodstream. It must be fought for, protected, and handed on for them to
do the same.” - The Rev. Dr. MarƟn Luther King, Jr.

2012 Trinity UCC Theme
Walking, Talking and Living Our Faith, Ephesians 4 (NLT)
January • Ephesians 4:1
Therefore I, a prisoner for serving the Lord, beg
you to lead a life worthy of your calling, for you
have been called by God.
February • Ephesians 4:2
Always be humble and gentle. Be patent with
each other, making allowance for each other’s
faults because of your love.
March • Ephesians 4:3
Make every efort to keep yourselves united
in the Spirit, binding yourselves together with
peace.
April • Ephesians 4:4
For there is one body and one Spirit, just as you
have been called to one glorious hope for the
future.
May • Ephesians 4:5-6
There is one Lord, one faith, one baptsm, and
one God and Father, who is over all and in all
and living through all.
June • Ephesians 4:7
However, he has given each one of us a special
gif through the generosity of Christ.
July • Ephesians 4:11
Now these are the gifs Christ gave to the
church: the apostles, the prophets, the
evangelists, and the pastors and teachers.
August • Ephesians 4:12
Their responsibility is to equip God’s people to
do his work and build up the church, the body of
Christ.
September • Ephesians 4:13
This will contnue untl we all come to such unity
in our faith and knowledge of God’s Son that we
will be mature in the Lord, measuring up to the
full and complete standard of Christ.
October • Ephesians 4:14
Then we will no longer be immature like
children. We won’t be tossed and blown about
by every wind of new teaching. We will not be
infuenced when people try to trick us with lies
so clever they sound like the truth.
November • Ephesians 4:15-16
Instead, we will speak the truth in love, growing
in every way more and more like Christ, who is
the head of his body, the church. He makes the
whole body ft together perfectly. As each part
does its own special work, it helps the other
parts grow, so that the whole body is healthy
and growing and full of love.
December • Ephesians 31-32
Get rid of all biterness, rage, anger, harsh
words, and slander, as well as all types of
evil behavior. Instead, be kind to each other,
tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as
God through Christ has forgiven you.

May the road rise to meet you,
May the wind be at your back.
May the sunlight of Jesus Christ grace your cheek,
And may rain gently fall upon your feld.
May God keep you in the hollow
of God’s Hand untl we meet again.
Go in peace.
