Peace Corps Azerbaijan is recruiting for a Community Economic Development (CED) Program Manager

(Position based in Baku, with extensive travel to the regions)

Approximate Start Date: June-July 2012


To make your mark as Program Manager, you will: Develop, manage, and promote the Peace Corps Community Economic Development (CED) Project and Peace Corps Volunteer (PCV) sites within Azerbaijan Support and mentor a group of 25-35 American volunteers with diverse experience and backgrounds, throughout their 2 years in country Communicate with volunteers and their Azerbaijani counterparts as you work together to contribute to the capacity building and development of the people of Azerbaijan Initiate and maintain good relations with the Ministry of Economic Development, microfinance banks, development organizations, and other community partners Work with a dynamic team of staff, sharing skills and resources to achieve programmatic goals Assess Community Economic Development opportunities throughout the regions of Azerbaijan Assist with the design, review and implementation of the CED project plan Train newly arrived Americans on Azerbaijans economic history, development, and working culture, providing them with the tools to succeed in their future work in the regions Orient the Azerbaijani partners of the volunteers on how to PCVs and their Azerbaijani colleagues can collaborate effectively Review and give feedback on PCV reports, linking volunteers to sources for additional technical assistance when needed Travel throughout Azerbaijan to meet with volunteers and their Azerbaijani partners at their sites, to celebrate their successes, and help find solutions to their challenges The Peace Corps Azerbaijan is looking for individuals with the ability to take initiative, work effectively in a team, manage their work load effectively and produce high quality work. Successful candidates should have: A relevant university diploma, preferably with a degree in economics, business, agriculture, community development, or similar; 3+ years managing programs, preferably for an international organization Experience in designing/facilitating trainings/workshops for adults Excellent Azerbaijani and English language skills, ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing Integrity, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and an appreciation for diversity; A demonstrated capacity to work with people of diverse backgrounds Good computer skills including Word, Excel, and experience with databases The ability to travel extensively throughout Azerbaijan for trips of 1-5 days in duration Ability and willingness to work extended hours and weekends when necessary Desired qualifications: Masters degree in a relevant subject Prior work experience with government officials Experience living and working outside of Baku Application Process: You can download application forms from www.azerweb.com, request them by email at AzJobs@az.peacecorps.gov.
