Camp is a great place to see the Lord work! Three of our staff men will be speaking and helping in camps this summer.
Summer Camp . . .
By Jim Dugan
Martin will be close to Sydney, speaking at Crestwood Community Baptist Church’s youth camp. Crestwood Baptist is one of our LCM churches and has seen the Lord working in the lives of its young people. Their leaders have been a big help to us at our evangelistic events. Martin will be speaking on “The Importance of Leaving a Legacy.” Jim will be going north to Scotts Head which is near Coffs Harbour. This is his third year to speak at the “Surf and Sand” camp for Gunnedah Baptist Church, which reaches out to the youth of their country town by taking them to the beach. Some of the youth have never seen the ocean! Jim will be speaking to the teens and helping with some of the afternoon activities. This camp has been going on for many years and has been greatly used of the Lord. Rodney will be flying to the far north of Queensland, speaking at a Christian youth camp in Cairns. There will be around 40 teens from a few churches attending the camp. This is a new contact for Word of Life!
LCM Expansions . . .
By Rodney Trinidad
It’s that time of year again here at Word of Life where our calendar becomes the talking point of meetings. Planning and gearing up to 2008 is, personally, one of the most exhilarating times of the year. If only you could sit with us while we brainstorm! The ideas that come flying through our heads (and sometimes straight to the bin) are so original and fresh. After all, that is the way we came up with our “chaotic cube,” Gym Jams, Kick-Off, Sports Marathons, Quiz Nights, high school meetings, seminars, etc. Looking back to 2007, we are still in awe of all that God did in the lives of hundreds of youth. This year we are looking forward to more Word of Life events that keep the “main thing” as the “main thing:” reaching youth whose needs constantly change with the truth that never changes.” With our March 15th Kick Off in full swing, we can only anticipate all that God will do. This year we are expecting 400 youth from over 30 churches to attend. We have even added a whole new activity…the wave pool! Not only will youth be ice-skating, eating pizza, and playing laser tag but also they will now enjoy the excitement of a wave pool. We also have a new opportunity for our youth groups to be part of our first ever National Christian Service Day (NCSD). It is going to be awesome to see hundreds of youth being a light for their church while serving within their community. Our high school ministries will continue to expand with new seminars and we will also be working with primary/elementary schools.
