ALL INDIA WEATHER BULLETIN (Night)

Monsoon Watch

The Northern Limit of Monsoon (NLM) continues to pass through Lat 18.0° N/ Long. 60.0° E, Lat

18.0° N/ Long. 65.0° E, Lat 18.0° N/ Long. 70.0° E, Harnai, Satara, Belgaum, Agumbe, Medikeri, Kodaikanal, Lat 10.0° N/ Long. 80.0° E, Lat 12.0° N/ Long. 86.0° E, Lat 18.0° N/ Long. 90.0° E, Lat 23.0° N/ Long. 91.0° E and Gangtok.

Main Weather Observations

TEMPERATURE: Heat wave conditions are prevailing over isolated pockets of Orissa and coastal Andhra Pradesh.

Maximum temperatures rose by 2­5°C over some parts of Himachal Pradesh, Vidarbha, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Sikkim, Assam and Arunachal Pradesh; isolated pockets of Punjab, Vidarbha, Marathwada, interior Karnataka, Kerala, coastal Tamilnadu and Gangetic West Bengal; fell by 2­4°C over some parts of Orissa; isolated pockets of south Madhya Maharashtra and Manipur and changed a little elsewhere.They are above normal by 2­6°C over some parts of coastal Andhra Pradesh and Orissa; isolated pockets of Jharkhand, Bihar, east Uttar Pradesh and Assam; by 2­3°C over isolated pockets of Uttarakhand, coastal & north interior Karnataka, Telangana, Rayalaseema, Tamilnadu and West Bengal; below normal by 4­7°C over isolated pockets of Jammu & Kashmir; by 2­3°C over isolated pockets of Punjab, Rajasthan, Gujarat region and west Madhya Pradesh and near normal over rest parts of the country. The highest maximum temperature of

45.0°C has been recorded at Rentachintala. (Andhra Pradesh).

RAINFALL (From 0830 to 1730 hours IST of today): Rainfall has occurred at many places over Andaman & Nicobar Islands; at a few

places over Jammu & Kashmir, Konkan & Goa, Kerala, Meghalaya, Mizoram and at one or two places over Uttrakhand, east Rajasthan, Gujarat region, Madhya Maharashtra, coastal & south interior Karnataka, north coastal Andhra Pradesh, Sikkim, west Assam, Nagaland and Gangetic West Bengal. Weather remained mainly dry over rest parts of the country. The chief amounts of rainfall (2 cm or more) recorded at 1730 hours IST of today are: Surat­7, Cherrapunji and Chittorgarh­3 each, Maya Bandar and Hut Bay­2 each.

CLOUDS: Kalpana­1 Cloud imagery at 1730 hours IST shows convective clouds over Andaman Sea, southeast & central Bay of Bengal

and southeast Arabian Sea. Low/medium clouds are seen over rest parts of the country outside , Punjab, north Haryana and west Uttar Pradesh.

Synoptic Features based on 1730 hours IST

The off shore trough at mean sea level from coastal Karnataka to Kerala coasts persists.

The western disturbance as an upper air system Jammu & Kashmir and neighbourhood persists.

The induced upper air cyclonic circulation over central Pakistan and adjoining Punjab in lower levels persists.

The upper air cyclonic circulation in lower levels over Bihar and neighbourhood persists. A trough extends from this system to north

Andaman Sea across Gangetic West Bengal and north Bay of Bengal.

An upper air cyclonic circulation persists over north Andaman Sea and adjoining eastcentral Bay of Bengal between 3.1 to 5.8 km above

mean sea level.

Major Feature of Weather Forecast up to 0830 hours IST of 11th June, 2012

Rain/thundershowers would occur at many places over Kerala, coastal Karnataka, Konkan

& Goa, Lakshadweep and Andaman & Nicobar Islands, at a few places over interior Karnataka and south Madhya Maharashtra and at one or two places over Marathawada and Gujarat region.

Rain/thundershowers would occur at many places over Sub­Himalayan West Bengal &

Sikkim and northeastern states.

Rain/thundershowers would occur at one or two places over Vidarbha and Chhattisgarh,

rest south peninsular and east India.

Rain/thundershowers would occur a few places over Jammu & Kashmir and Himachal

Pradesh and at one or two places over Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi and Rajasthan.

Weather Warning

Heavy rainfall would occur at one or two places over Andaman & Nicobar Islands during

next 48 hours.

Heat wave conditions may prevail over some parts of interior Orissa and coastal Andhra Pradesh during

next 24 hours.

Weather Outlook for subsequent 4 days up to 0830 hours IST of 15th June 2012

Rain/thundershowers would continue to occur at many places over west coast, West Bengal

& Sikkim, northeastern states and Andaman & Nicobar Islands.

Rain/thundershowers would occur at one or two places over rest peninsular, east and

adjoining central India.

Rainfall may increase over south Chhattisgarh, Orissa and Andhra Pradesh from 11th.
