OF EWING PURSUANT TO N.J.S.A. 40:67-1(j) and (k)

WHEREAS, an ordinance is required to enable the Tax Assessor and the Administration
in consultation with the Township Police Department to change the numbering of buildings and
names of streets located within the Township to correct duplication, avoid confusion and
facilitate efficient and accurate deliveries and emergency personnel response times; and,

WHEREAS, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:67-1(j), an ordinance is required to provide for the

adoption and changing of a system of numbering all buildings and lots of land in the Township,
and the display upon each building of the number assigned to it, either at the expense of the
owner thereof or of the municipality; and,

WHEREAS, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:67-1(k), an ordinance is required to provide for the

naming and changing the names of streets and highway, and the erection thereon of signs,
showing the names thereof.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Township Council of the Township of

Ewing that the Revised General Municipal Ordinances of the Township of Ewing be amended to
authorize the renaming and renumbering of streets located within the Township.

Section 1: The Revised General Municipal Ordinances of the Township of Ewing are hereby
amended to add the following:

The Tax Assessor shall have the authority, in consultation with the Administration and Police
Department, to renumber existing building numbers in the event of duplicate numbers on the
same street to ensure comprehensible and sequential numbering.

The Tax Assessor shall have the authority, in consultation with the Administration and Police
Department, to rename existing street names in the event of duplicate street names to avoid
duplication and ensure a comprehensible system of street naming.

The Tax Assessor shall advise all affected property owners of such building renumbering and/or
street renaming at least ninety (90) days prior to the effective date of the building renumbering
and/or street renaming.

Section 2 This Ordinance shall take effect after final passage and publication according to
