ORDINANCE NO. 25
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE REVISED GENERAL ORDINANCES OF THE
TOWNSHIP OF EWING IN THE COUNTY OF MERCER, INCREASING THE
MUNICIPAL COURT FEE IN CHAPTER 100, FEES, FOR PUBLIC DEFENDER
APPLICATION

BE IT ORDAINED by the Township Council of the Township of Ewing that


Chapter 100, FEES, § 100-1. Schedule of fees of the Code of the Township of Ewing is
hereby amended as follows:

Township of Ewing is hereby amended as follows:

§ 100-1. Schedule of fees.

L. Municipal Court.

(1) Public Defender application: $50. A person applying for representation by


a municipal public defender or court approved counsel is required to pay
an application fee of not more than $200.00, but only in an amount
necessary to pay the costs of municipal public defender services. The
Municipal Court may waive this fee, in whole or part, only if the Court
determines, in its discretion, upon a clear and convincing showing by the
applicant that this fee represents an unreasonable burden on the person
seeking representation. The Municipal Court may permit a person to pay
the application fee over a specific period of time not to exceed four (4)
months.

Section 2. This Ordinance shall take effect after final passage and publication
according to law.

STATEMENT

This Ordinance amends the Revised General Municipal Ordinances of the Township of
Ewing to increase the public defender application fee.
