An Inspirational Guide for Ladies

by Olive Knight

This booklet is dedicated to the single ladies of Second Church in Dorchester who completed the most amazing book discussion. To Debbie, Penny, Schelly and Nordia God bless you always.

My thanks to my brother, Danny Ellis, who keeps me focused. And thanks to my daughter-in-law Karlene Hamilton, our “Princess,” who helped to edit and suggest appropriate verses. “I never cease to thank my God for you.”

There are many times when we as ladies are undervalued. But more tragically we undervalue ourselves. We need to remember that we are “children of God” made for a purpose. Our duty is to discover that purpose for our lives and to live to the best of our ability. To have life and to have it more abundantly. Ladies, don't just read these simple sounding statements and toss them aside. Rather, dwell on them and make them a part of your everyday life. Go looking for other scriptures that will bolster your confidence, and make you more of who you are. Discover yourself in the Word of God. I have been fortunate in being surrounded by some great people who have always encouraged, supported and loved me. They are too numerous to mention here. The ones closest to me and whose many words of encouragement I appreciate are my husband, Alphonse; my daughter, Amber P; my son, Michael; and my daughter-in-love, Karlene. And I must mention my grandkids — Duane and Suné who are my heart. They give me paintings, drawings and phone calls to tell me they love me and want Grandma to come stay with them. What more could I need to feel loved? I am blessed. Look for people like those around you. But above all... Always… put God first and all these other things will be added to you. Olive
