With mixed emotions, I have decided to accept the job as President of the Georgetown County Chamber of Commerce. This decision has not been an easy one. North Augusta has been my home for almost 13 years and my time with the Chamber has been one of the best times of my life. Since I moved here in 1999 this community has taken me in and treated me as its very own. North Augusta is my family. With that being said, even in families, the children often leave home to take hold of the opportunities and to face the adventures that life offers up. That is very much the case here. My family has struggled with this decision. Again, North Augusta is home. Its comfortable and its safe, but this is truly an opportunity that we cant turn down. North Augusta has a bright future and I am looking forward to seeing what lies ahead for this wonderful community. Over the coming weeks, I will work with our Board of Directors and staff to ensure a smooth transition and to make sure that the Chamber continues to grow in size and influence. I ask that all of you continue to support the chambers initiatives through your membership and your participation. I have no doubt that the Chambers brightest days are before it. Judy, Suzanne, our Board of Directors and our Ambassadors will continue to serve our members through our advocacy, education and networking opportunities. I will really miss you all! Brian Tucker, President May 24th at Rosemary Inn Bed & Breakfast was the place of our Business After Hours for May. The Event was held from 5-7pm, with refreshments and food from Chick-Fil-A being served. Rosemary Inn offered a great setting for a casual, relaxing time to visit with our Members both New and existing. By 2010, the Greater North Augusta Chamber of Commerce will be a community catalyst promoting collaboration and partnerships that maintain a positive business environment and enrich the communitys quality of life. The North Augusta Chamber of Commerce is organized to achieve the objectives of: Promoting business and community growth and development by promoting economic programs designed to strengthen and expand the income potential of all businesses within the trade area; promoting programs of civic, social and cultural nature which are designed to increase the functional and aesthetic values of the community; and discovering and correcting abuses which prevent the promotion of business expansion and community growth; Preserving the competitive enterprise system of business by; creating a better understanding, and appreciation of, the importance of business people and a concern for their problems; educating the business community and representing them in city, county, state and national legislative and political affairs; preventing and addressing controversies which are detrimental to expansion and growth of business and the community if they arise; creating a greater appreciation of the value of a more liberal investment of substance and self on behalf of the interests of competitive business.
The Chamber is funded by its membership and is not part of a city, county, or state government agency. Policies are set by a volunteer Board of Directors. Volunteers from area businesses serve on committees and programs. The day to day operations are managed by its president and a professional staff of employees. The primary focus of the Chamber is to provide services to its members and to help their businesses grow and prosper. The Chamber is working to create conditions which will directly enhance your companys bottom line. The Chamber also gives members a voice in government and helps to improve the quality of life for all through participation in the arts, education, and other important community issues.
