Prompt Number 1 Write a well organized essay in which you argue for one of the following topics:     The use of cell phones in school The need for a dress code policy for school children The elimination of a dress code policy for school children Access to social networking sites such as Face Book and You Tube in classrooms

In your essay, be sure to do the following:  Clearly identify your argument and develop support through your introduction and supporting paragraphs.  Include quotations, examples, and information from a variety of sources.  Follow the rules of Standard Written English.  Use vocabulary specific to your topic of choice. Prompt Number 2 Write a well organized essay in which you examine one of the following topics:  The effects of social media on children’s learning  Childhood obesity  The increase in popularity of fantasy writing for young people  Online learning  The influence of pop-culture on teenagers In your essay, be sure to do the following:  Clearly identify your topic and develop understanding through your introduction and supporting paragraphs.  Include quotations, examples, and information from a variety of sources.  Include charts, graphics, and tables to aid comprehension  Follow the rules of Standard Written English.  Use vocabulary specific to your topic of choice. Prompt Number 3 Write a well organized essay about a real or imagined experience that changed your life in some way. In your essay, be sure to do the following:  Use descriptions and details to illustrate the event and its effect on you  Describe the event and its effect through a logical and organized sequence  Use narrative techniques, such as dialogue, pacing, description, and reflection, to develop experiences, events, and/or characters.  Use a variety of transition words, phrases, and clauses to convey sequence, signal shifts from one time frame or setting to another, and show the relationships among experiences and events.  Use precise words and phrases, relevant descriptive details, and sensory language to capture the action and convey experiences and events.  Follow the rules of Standard Written English.
