8 APRIL 2012 ⏐ EASTER SUNDAY
The celebration of Easter brings us to the central mystery of our faith – the passion, death and the resurrection of Jesus. It draws us closely to the “heart” of God. It reveals to us that the cross, though a “Stumbling block to the Jews and foolishness to the Gentiles,” (1 Cor. 2:23) is for those who believe, “the power of God and the wisdom of God” (1 Cor. 2:24). The cross manifests to us God’s standard of loving and His way of loving us.
The “power of God” that St. Paul proclaims (1 Cor 2:24) is unleashed in the resurrection of Jesus. The seeming failure of the cross turns into a manifestation of God’s glory. He is alive. This is our faith. This means, in the words of Ron Rolheiser, OMI, that, “to believe in the resurrection of Jesus is to be comforted at a level so deep that nothing in life is any longer a threat. In the resurrection, the hand of God soothes us and the voice of God assures us, frightened children that we are, that all is good, and that all remain good forever and ever. The resurrection is something that buoys up every moment of life and every aspect of reality. God is always making new life and undergirding it with goodness, graciousness, mercy, and love that, in the end heals all wounds, forgives all sins and brings deadness of all kinds to new life.” We wish you abundant blessings. With our love and prayers, Fr. Patrick Moses, Pastor Fr. Venancio Amidar Fr. Daniel Reader And the staff of St. Irenaeus Parish

8 APRIL 2012 ⏐ EASTER SUNDAY
We would like to extend a special welcome this weekend to all of you here today. Some of you may have been away for a while and some may be here for the first time. There’s an old saying that goes, “Once a Catholic, always a Catholic.” Maybe you have been away from the Church for a little while or quite some time, but somehow you now feel a tug at your heart calling you back home to the Catholic Church. That’s why we’re here. That mysterious pull inside you, driving you to look into your faith once more, comes directly from God. Your Heavenly Father is yearning for a relationship with you again, in the Church founded by Jesus 2000 years ago. He’s waiting for you with open arms. You may want to take some time to explore all of the resources available to help you learn more about coming home to the Catholic Church. We know you may have questions, and may even want to resolve some past hurts before you can feel free to enter into a relationship with Jesus or His Church again. We understand! You are not alone. The Church has compelling answers to all of your questions. The Catholic Church has never wavered in its mission to spread truth and love throughout the world. The Lord wants us all to know and understand His truth, so we can embrace it wholeheartedly and live by it. Christ himself reminds us that, “The truth shall make you free” (John 8:32). Consider this a sign, and your personal invitation to rediscover the truth, wonder and mystery of the Catholic faith. We are family. Welcome home! Whether or not you’re ready to return to the Catholic Church, or learn more about our faith, we’re here to help you take that second look. If you have ever thought about returning to the Church, we would like to welcome you to St. Irenaeus. We have a special ministry for people just like you who have been away from the Church.
YOU ARE INVITED TO JOIN US FOR A SIX WEEK “COMING HOME” SERIES THAT BEGINS SUNDAY APRIL 15TH AT 7:00 P.M. IN THE EDUCATION BLDG.
We would like to address your questions and make you feel at home once more in the Catholic Church. For more information please contact Carol K. at 714/349-9177 or email@example.com And if you are not Catholic, you too are welcome here. Do not hesitate to come and seek a greater understanding of our community. We have been touched by so many friends and grace-filled people who have come into our lives and enriched us with their presence. We are a community that sincerely believes we have been called and sent to serve ALL God’s people; hopefully that includes you. For information on becoming Catholic or learning more about the Catholic Faith, please contact Rebecca Soto at 714/826-0760 x124 or firstname.lastname@example.org.

Thank you for your Generosity
Thanks to your generosity, we were able to repair the Modular Unit stairs and handrail. See our website(sticypress.org) to sign up for electronic giving! You can choose to give from your banking account (checking or savings) or from a credit card. It's safe and convenient. When you give electronically, you can specify to have your regular collections (e.g., normal weekend mass) and special collections (e.g., Campaign 2012) donated automatically, too. Stewardship always starts with the personal experience of Jesus Christ in our midst and in our hearts. It is a vocation to discipleship. [Stewardship:A Disciple’s Response - 10th Anniv. Ed., USCCB, 2002]. Alleluia! Christ is risen and is victorious over sin and death! We are good stewards of our faith if, like St. Paul, we share this good news whenever and wherever we can. Jesus asks us to commit ourselves to be good stewards of the gifts entrusted to us, to share our time, our talent and our treasure as an outward sign of the love and gratitude we have for Him. (Diocese of Bismarck) On this day of days we offer a joyful sacrifice of praise to the Father who raised his Son from the dead. Let us be intent upon the life Christ offers us. If we are good stewards of our faith, then we share this good news that Christ has risen whenever and wherever we can. (STEWARDSHIP: A WAY OF LIFE (sic) April, 2012)

NO SUNDAY NIGHT LIVE TONIGHT –See you back on April 22nd. Have a blessed Easter and enjoy your Easter break!
Imagine it… For three long days they had been living
the stuff that nightmares are made of. There were false allegations. There was a trial. They watched, helplessly, as one they loved was unjustly convicted. And that was the easy part. Then came the sucker punch. The screaming, gut-wrenching, curl up in a little ball, I-can’tdo-this horror of seeing their friend, brother, son, teacher, and savior beaten, humiliated, and mercilessly put to death. How do you deal? You don’t. You just survive. Those first days after Jesus died they must have wandered around in a fog. They must have tried to remember EVERYTHING about him. Wait – STOP – what had he said to them? Resurrection – he had talked of resurrection. He had said that in three days he would rise. No, it couldn’t be. Death was all they could see.
Imagine it… The looks on the faces of the women
who had come to prepare his body one last time. The looks on the faces of the Apostles when he came to them. Disbelief and shock must have given way to hope and joy. Now that’s Easter! But if that’s just their story, then what’s the point? Easter has to be more than just their story. It’s got to be MY story too. More than that, Easter has to be my way of life. I have to learn from Jesus what it means to be a resurrection seeker and a resurrection sharer. Jesus didn’t just rise and go on his merry way. He made sure that people knew about it, saw him after it happened, could tell others what they had seen in him. Wow! So, like Jesus, I need to rise beyond the deaths that happen in my everyday life – breakups, failed tests, illness, family tension. I need to look beyond sorrow and death to see the everyday resurrections that wait to be noticed in my life – new friendships, healing, reconciliation, love and support. Then, I need to share it. I need to tell people about the good that God is doing in my life and by my example teach them to see the resurrection in their own lives.
Imagine it… Hmmm…..I can only imagine…..
