‘The Agriculturists’ – A scientific journal of Krishi Foundation is a peer-reviewed and indexed (BanglaJOL: http://www.banglajol.info/index.php/AGRIC; CAB Abstracts: http://www.cabi.org/cababstracts) journal that welcomes articles in all disciplines of agricultural sciences such as crop, fisheries, livestock, engineering, economics, forestry and environment. The articles must be original reports, not previously or simultaneously published or under consideration for publication in any other scientific journal. Both full-length papers and short communications are considered for publication. Each volume of the journal is comprised of two issues published in June and December of every year. The journal is also available online in the http://www.krishibidgroup.org.bd/journal/.
The contributors are suggested to carefully follow the recent issue of ‘The Agriculturists’ for preparing their manuscripts. Manuscripts should be written in correct English, typed on one side of good quality A4 size papers in double space leaving wide margins (left and top 3.5 cm, right and bottom 3.0 cm) preferably in Times New Roman in advance windows version. The manuscripts should be prepared sequentially as Title, Abstract, Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results and Discussion, Conclusions, Acknowledgements (if any) and References. Introduction should be numbered 1 (One) and be continued up to acknowledgements by 5. Sub-titles should be written in italic style with respective numbers in sentence case. (For example: 2.2. Experimental design and statistical analysis, is a sub-title under the section of 2. Materials and Methods). Table(s) and Figure(s) should be attached in separate sheets, but those should be referred to sequentially in the text. Numerical results should be presented in the form of either Tables or Figures. Insert page number to the top-right of the page and the first page number should commence from title page. Title page: This page should bear the title of the article, name of author(s) with address(es). The corresponding author should be highlighted with telephone, fax and email addresses, if available. The title must be informative, brief and specific. It should not contain more than 15 words. The authors are also suggested to provide running (short) title of the manuscript to be presented above the name(s) of the author(s). Abstract: Particular attention should be given to write an abstract, since most readers will read only this part of the paper. The abstract, preferably within 250 words, should follow immediately after the title in the second page. Abstract should be written very concisely, covering the objectives, location and time of the experimentations. Briefly state the experimental design and treatments. Key findings of the experiments along with a conclusive statement should be narrated. Keywords: Appropriate key words (not exceeding seven) consistent with the title should be presented in bold letters after the abstract. Illustrations and photographs: Illustrations (with appropriate scales) including diagrams and graphs in the text should be as ‘Figure’. Good quality printed illustration should be on separate sheets with the author’s name, short title and proper caption should be written on the back side. Graphs must be in black and white and not coloured. Fonts should be adequately large to ensure readability.
Tables: Tables with appropriate title should conform to the page size avoiding vertical lines. Measurements and Equations: For all measurements, SI units must be used. Equations and formula should be presented properly in the text. Scientific Names: Scientific names should be given for all organisms. Chemical names and trade names should be given for all chemicals used e.g. herbicides, insecticides etc. Abbreviations: Standard abbreviations should be used. Citations and References: Citations should include author(s) and year of publication. Items in the reference list should be referred to in the text by inserting within parentheses, the year of publication after the author’s name. If there are more than two authors, the first author should be cited followed by ‘et al.’ (in italic style). The names of all authors, however, would appear in the reference list. References should be arranged alphabetically according to the first author. In the case of citing more than one paper of the same author(s) in the same year, the papers should be distinguished by suffixing with a small letter, e.g. Biswas (2001a), Biswas (2001b).
Examples of References are as follows
