Welcome everyone to another issue, of the magazine! We have a few changes we will be making as far as when we come out, this is important so please read. Getting the magazine out on time has gotten more and more difficult each month as we continue to be the only ones editing and putting everything together, we have decided to put out our issues just before the major sabbats. We have also decided after this issue, to streamline the articles and do away with some of the subjects that are not really related to the direction in which we find ourselves going. Which means, no more music section for now, as well as the cutting of a few other sections. We hope this makes for an easier to read, better organized and more informative magazine. We will continue to support those who support us, Pagan UnderWorld, Earth Monster World, as well as any other sites which would like to be a part of this publication in the future. Our Main Purpose is to continue to grow together and gain knowledge and wisdom and share it with everyone who wishes to grow with us! Much Love~ Sweet Dark Angel, & Andrew

Rituals performed when the Moon is in the sign of leo can cover courage, fertility and childbirth. Healing rituals can be performed to request improvement in upper-back, spine and heart ailment.
Like its ruling sign Leo, this is a card of courage and energy. It represents both the Lion's hot, roaring energy, and the Maiden's steadfast will. The innocent Maiden is unafraid, undaunted, and indomitable. In some cards she opens the lion's mouth, in others she shuts it. Either way, she proves that inner strength is more powerful than raw physical strength. That forces can be controlled and used to score a victory is very close to the message of the Chariot, which might be why, in some decks, it is Justice that is card 8 instead of Strength. This card assures the Querent that they can control not only the situation, but themselves. It is a card about anger and impulse management, about creative answers, leadership and maintaining one's personal honor. It can also stand for a steadfast friend.

Nephthys was an ancient goddess, who was referenced in texts dating back to the Old Kingdom. She was a member of the Ennead of Heliopolis as the daughter of Geb and Nut and the sister of Osiris, Isis and Horus and the sister and wife of Set. When the Ennead and Ogdoad merged, Nephthys was given a place on Ra's boat so that she could accompany him on his journey through the underworld. Nephthys is the Greek pronunciation of her name. To the Ancient Egyptians she was Nebthwt (Nebhhwt or Nebthet) meaning "the Mistress of the House". The word "hwt" ("house") may refer to the sky (as in Hwt-hor, the "House of Horus" - the name of Hathor), but it also refers to either the royal family or Egypt as a whole. The latter makes a great deal of sense as she was described as the head of the household of the
gods and was thought to extend her protection to the head female of every household. She was sometimes associated with Ptah-Tanen in representing Lower Egypt, while Khnum and Isis represented Upper Egypt. It seems that she was originally conceived of as the female counterpart of Set. He represented the desert, while she represented the air. Set was infertile (like the desert that he represented) and was frequently described as either bisexual or gay and so Nephthys was often considered to be barren. As a goddess of the air, she could take the form of a bird, and because she was barren she was associated with the vulture - a bird which the Egyptians believed did not bear children. The Egyptians thought that all vultures were female (because there is very little difference in the appearance of a male vulture), and that they were spontaneously created from the air. While the care shown by a mother vulture for her child was highly respected, the Egyptians also recognised that vultures fed on carrion and associated them with death and decay. As a result, Nephthys became a goddess of death and mourning. Professional mourners were known as the "Hawks of Nephthys", in recognition of her role as a goddess of mourning. It was also believed that she protected Hapi in his role as of the Four sons of Horus (who guarded the organs stored in the four canopic jars). Hapi protected the lungs, and as a goddes of the air Nephthys was his guardian. She was also one of the four goddesses who guarded the shrine buried with the Pharaoh. She appears with Isis, Selkit (Serqet) and Neith on the gilded shrine of Tutankhamun, but was often depicted with Isis, Bast and Hathor in this role. Yet, she was also said to be the source of both rain and the Nile river (associating her with Anuket) and was thought to protect women in childbirth (with the assistance of her sister, Isis). Thus she was closely associated with both death and life.
Although she was technically infertile, later myths claimed that she was the mother of Anubis by either Osiris or Set (depending on the myth). This came about because Anubis' position as the god of the dead was usurped by Osiris when the theologies of the Ennead and the Ogdoad merged. According to one myth Nephthys disguised herself as Isis to get the attention of her neglectful husband Set, but instead seduced Osiris (who apparently did not realize that it was Nephthys). An alternative myth made it clear that Nephthys intended to seduce Osiris from the beginning and drugged his wine to make her task easier, while a less common myth held that she did trick her husband into a brief daliance in order to conceive Anubis. It is suggested that this tale also explained the flowering of a plant in a normally barren area because Set apparently discovered the adultery when he found a flower left by his brother Osiris. Isis and Nephthys were very close despite Nephthys' alleged infidelity with Osiris (the husband of Isis) and her marriage to Set (the murderer of Osiris). Nephthys protected the body of Osiris and supported Isis as she tried to resurrect him. The goddesses are so similar in appearance that only their headdresses can distinguish them and they always appear together in funerary scenes. Together Isis and Nephthys could be said to represent day and night, life and death, growth and decay. In Heliopolis, Isis and Nephthys were represented by two virginal priestesses who shaved off all of their body hair and were ritually pure. Nephthys was usually depicted as a woman with the hieroglyphs of her name
(a basket on top of the glyph representing the plan of an estate) on her head. She could also be depicted as a mourning woman, and her hair was compared to the strips of cloth used in mummification. She also occasionally appears as a hawk, a kite or a winged goddess in her role as a protector of the dead. Her major centers of worships were Heliopolis (Iunu, in the 13th Nome of Lower Egypt), Senu, Hebet, (Behbit), Per-mert, Re-nefert, Het-sekhem, Het-Khas, Ta-kehset, and Diospolites.
Apollo is one of the most important and complex of the Olympian deities in ancient Greek and Roman religion, Greek and Roman mythology, and Greco-Roman Neopaganism. The ideal of the kouros (a beardless, athletic youth), Apollo has been variously recognized as a god of light and the sun, truth and prophecy, healing, plague, music, poetry, and more. Apollo is the son of Zeus and Leto, and has a twin sister, the chaste huntress Artemis. Apollo is known in Greek-influenced Etruscan mythology as Apulu. Among the proposed etymologies is the Hurrian and Hittite divinity, Aplu,
who was widely invoked during the "plague years". Aplu, it is suggested, comes from the Akkadian Aplu Enlil, meaning "the son of Enlil", a title that was given to the god Nergal, who was linked to Shamash, Babylonian god of the sun. Apollo, like other Greek deities, had a number of epithets applied to him, reflecting the variety of roles, duties, and aspects ascribed to the god. However, while Apollo has a great number of appellations in Greek myth, only a few occur in Latin literature, chief among them Phoebus which was very commonly used by both the Greeks and Romans in Apollo's role as the god of light.
As the patron of Delphi (Pythian Apollo), Apollo was an oracular god - the prophetic deity of the Delphic Oracle. Medicine and healing are associated with Apollo, whether through the god himself or mediated through his son Asclepius, yet Apollo was also seen as a god who could bring ill-health and deadly plague. Amongst the god's custodial charges, Apollo became associated
with dominion over colonists, and as the patron defender of herds and flocks. As the leader of the Muses (Apollon Musegetes) and director of their choir, Apollo functioned as the patron god of music and poetry. Hermes created the lyre for him, and the instrument became a common attribute of Apollo. Hymns sung to Apollo were called paeans. In Hellenistic times, especially during the 3rd century BCE, as Apollo Helios he became identified among Greeks with Helios, Titan god of the sun, and his sister Artemis similarly equated with Selene, Titan goddess of the moon. In Latin texts, on the other hand, Joseph Fontenrose declared himself unable to find any conflation of Apollo with Sol among the Augustan poets of the 1st century, not even in the conjurations of Aeneas and Latinus in Aeneid XII (161-215). Apollo and Helios/Sol remained separate beings in literary and mythological texts until the 3rd century CE. The Roman worship of Apollo was adopted from the Greeks. As a quintessentially Greek god, Apollo had no direct Roman equivalent, although later Roman poets often referred to him as Phoebus. There was a tradition that the Delphic oracle was consulted as early as the period of the kings of Rome during the reign of Tarquinius Superbus. On the occasion of a pestilence in the 430s BCE, Apollo's first temple at Rome was established in the Flaminian fields, replacing an older cult site there known as the "Apollinare". During the Second Punic War in 212 BCE, the Ludi Apollinares ("Apollonian Games") were instituted in his honor, on the instructions of a prophecy attributed to one Marcius. In the time of Augustus, who considered himself under the special protection of Apollo and was even said to be his son, his worship developed and he became one of the chief gods of Rome.
Temple of Apollo After the battle of Actium, which was fought near a sanctuary of Apollo, Augustus enlarged Apollo's temple, dedicated a portion of the spoils to him, and instituted quinquennial games in his honor. He also erected a new temple to the god on the Palatine hill. Sacrifices and prayers on the Palatine to Apollo and Diana formed the culmination of the Secular Games, held in 17 BCE to celebrate the dawn of a new era. The chief Apollonian festivals were the Boedromia, Carneia, Carpiae, Daphnephoria, Delia, Hyacinthia, Metageitnia, Pyanepsia, Pythia and Thargelia. Apollo's most common attributes were the bow and arrow. Other attributes of his included the kithara (an advanced version of the common lyre), the plectrum and the sword. Another common emblem was the sacrificial tripod, representing his prophetic powers. The Pythian Games were held in Apollo's honor every four years at Delphi. The bay laurel plant was used in expiatory sacrifices and in making the crown of victory at these games. The palm tree was also sacred to Apollo because he had been born under one in Delos. Animals sacred to Apollo included wolves, dolphins, roe deer, swans, cicadas (symbolizing music and song), hawks, ravens, crows, snakes (referencing Apollo's function as the god of prophecy), mice and griffins, mythical eagle-lion hybrids of Eastern origin.
As god of colonization, Apollo gave oracular guidance on colonies, especially during the height of colonization, 750-550 BCE. According to Greek tradition, he helped Cretan or Arcadian colonists found the city of Troy. However, this story may reflect a cultural influence which had the reverse direction: Hittite cuneiform texts mention a Minor Asian god called Appaliunas or Apalunas in connection with the city of Wilusa attested in Hittite inscriptions, which is now generally regarded as being identical with the Greek Ilion by most scholars. In this interpretation, Apollo's title of Lykegenes can simply be read as "born in Lycia", which effectively severs the god's supposed link with wolves (possibly a folk etymology). In literary contexts, Apollo represents harmony, order, and reason characteristics contrasted with those of Dionysus, god of wine, who represents ecstasy and disorder. The contrast between the roles of these gods is reflected in the adjectives Apollonian and Dionysian. However, the Greeks thought of the two qualities as complementary: the two gods are brothers, and when Apollo at winter left for Hyperborea, he would leave the Delphic oracle to Dionysus. This contrast appears to be shown on the two sides of the Borghese Vase.
Apollo is often associated with the Golden Mean Ratio.
Apollo in the Arts Apollo is a common theme in Greek and Roman art and also in the art of the Renaissance. The earliest Greek word for a statue is "delight" and the sculptors tried to create forms which would inspire such guiding vision. Greek art puts into Apollo the highest degree of power and beauty that can be imagined. The sculptors derived this from observations on human beings, but they also embodied in concrete form, issues beyond the reach of ordinary thought. The naked bodies of the statues are associated with the cult of the body that was essentially a religious activity. The muscular frames and limbs combined with slim waists indicate the Greek desire for health, and the physical capacity which was necessary in the hard Greek environment. The statues of Apollo embody beauty, balance and inspire awe before the beauty of the world. The evolution of the Greek sculpture can be observed in his depictions from the almost static formal Kouros type in early archaic period, to the representation of motion in a relative harmonious whole in late archaic period. In classical Greece the emphasis is not given to the illusive imaginative reality represented by the ideal forms, but to the analogies and the interaction of the members in the whole, a method created by Polykleitos. Finally Praxiteles seems to be released from any art and religious conformities, and his masterpieces are a mixture of naturalism with stylization.
Art and Greek Philosophy The evolution of the Greek art seems to go parallel with the Greek philosophical conceptions, which changed from the natural-philosophy of Thales to the metaphysical theory of Pythagoras. Thales searched for a simple material-form directly perceptible by the senses, behind the appearances of things, and his theory is also related to the older animism. This was paralleled
in sculpture by the absolute representation of vigorous life, through unnaturally simplified forms. Pythagoras believed that behind the appearance of things, there was the permanent principle of mathematics, and that the forms were based on a transcendental mathematical relation. The forms on earth, are imperfect imitations trying to find the mathematical relation, that would lead to the esthetic perfection. In classical Greece, Anaxagoras asserted that a divine reason (mind) gave order to the seeds of the universe, and Plato extended the Greek belief of ideal forms to his metaphysical theory of forms (ideai: ideas) - indicating how the Greek mind moved from the gift of the senses, to the principles beyond the senses. The artists in Plato's time moved away from his theories and art tends to be a mixture of naturalism with stylization. The Greek sculptors considered the senses more important, and the proportions were used to unite the sensible with the intellectual.
Hellenistic Greece-Rome Apollo as a handsome beardless young man, is often depicted with a kithara (as Apollo Citharoedus) or bow in his hand, or reclining on a tree (the Apollo Lykeios and Apollo Sauroctonos types). The Apollo Belvedere is a marble sculpture that was rediscovered in the late 15th century; for centuries it epitomized the ideals of Classical Antiquity for Europeans, from the Renaissance through the 19th century. The marble is a Hellenistic or Roman copy of a bronze original by the Greek sculptor Leochares, made between 350 and 325 BCE. The life-size so-called "Adonis" found in 1780 on the site of a villa suburbana near the Via Labicana in the Roman suburb of Centocelle is identified as an Apollo by modern scholars. In the late 2nd century CE floor mosaic from El
Djem, Roman Thysdrus, he is identifiable as Apollo Helios by his effulgent halo, though now even a god's divine nakedness is concealed by his cloak, a mark of increasing conventions of modesty in the later Empire. Another haloed Apollo in mosaic, from Hadrumentum, is in the museum at Sousse. The conventions of this representation, head tilted, lips slightly parted, large-eyed, curling hair cut in locks grazing the neck, were developed in the 3rd century BCE to depict Alexander the Great. Some time after this mosaic was executed, the earliest depictions of Christ would also be beardless and haloed.

Canada Day July 1,2012 observed on the 2nd
Canada Day (French: Fête du Canada) is the national day of Canada, a federal statutory holiday celebrating the anniversary of the July 1, 1867, enactment of the British North America Act, 1867 (today called the Constitution Act, 1867, in Canada), which united three colonies into a single country called Canada within the British Empire. Originally called Dominion Day (French: Le Jour de la Confédération), the name was changed in 1982, the year the Canada Act was passed. Canada Day observances take place throughout Canada as well as internationally.
Frequently referred to as "Canada's birthday", particularly in the popular press, the occasion marks the joining of the British North American colonies of Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and the Province of Canada into a federation of four provinces (the Province of Canada being divided, in the process, into Ontario and Quebec) on July 1, 1867. Canada became a kingdom in its own right on that date, but the British Parliament kept limited rights of political control over the new country that were shed by stages over the years until the last vestiges were surrendered in 1982 when the Constitution Act patriated the Canadian constitution. Under the federal Holidays Act, Canada Day is observed on July 1 unless that date falls on a Sunday, in which case July 2 is the statutory holiday, although celebratory events generally take place on July 1 even though it is not the legal holiday. If it falls on a Saturday, any businesses normally closed that day will generally dedicate the following Monday as a day off.

Make Your Own Olive Oil Lamp
Posted by Christine *Admin*
These are not only great for power outages and times of crisis, but did you know that by devoting just one hour per day to using something other than electricity you will not only save yourself thousands of dollars... but you will cut down on harm to mother earth? PLUS, as an added benefit, these little diy lamps are PERFECT for night rituals and Sabbats! Making your lamp is relatively easy, and most likely you will have many of the materials on hand already. Here’s what you’ll need:
• A wide-mouthed glass jar (a quart-size wide-mouthed canning jar works really well) • A short length of flexible steel wire (1 1/2 or 2 times the height of the jar) • A wick • Olive oil
* Putting Together the Lamp: 1. Form one end of the steel wire into a long hook, about the same height as the jar. This hook holds the wire on the jar and doubles as a handle to pull the wick up for lighting. 2. Take the other end of the wire and wrap it into a coil, creating a wick stand about an inch or two tall that sits on the bottom of the jar. 3. Pinch the top of the metal coil onto about 2 inches in length of wick so that about a quarter inch or less of the wick is sticking up above the wire coil. Any longer and the wick will smoke. The other end of the wick will be soaking in the olive oil. 4. Add enough olive oil to your jar so that the level is just under where the wick is pinched by the wire. Any higher and you risk putting out the lamp with the oil.
* How the Lamp Works:
The olive oil is drawn up the wick where it vaporizes and gets burned by the flame. A few ounces of oil will burn for several hours, so if you are concerned about the cost, it is much cheaper than most candles. If you can find lampante oil (olive oil not suitable for eating, but for burning), you can save money by buying that instead of culinary olive oil. Want to get fancy with your olive oil lamp? You can infuse your olive oil with herbs, spices or essential oils for a more scented experience. WONDERFUL IDEA! Add essential oil, and boiling water to dry

~Magick Witch's Cleansing Herbal Bottle~
Posted by Christine *Admin*
To make an herbal cleansing bottle, pour a layer of sand in a large clear bottle. Add layers of dried herbs, one at a time: first rosemary; then lemon peel, sage, cedar, black peppercorns, lavender, dill, bay leaf, and rowan. When the bottle is full, focus cleansing protective energy into the herbs and sand, and see a golden light radiating from the bottle. Visualize the herbs driving away negative influences. Cork and seal the bottle with white wax. Using a permanent marker, draw the Algiz rune on one side of the bottle, and on the other side draw a pentagram.
Set the bottle near your front or back door, and every six months, uncap. Pour herbs out into the woods or your compost heap, and thoroughly wash and dry the bottle before filling it with a new round of herbs.
Some things to think about before we begin. 1. Everything is energy. Humans, animals, minerals, plants, thoughts, emotions --- all of it. Energy. 2. When energy impacts an environment, it changes it. For good or bad --- it will change it. 3. Everything has a spirit (consciousness.) 4. You are part of everything else. What affects one part, affects all other parts. 5. Like attracts like. 6. Cleansing is healing. From the above, you should be able to understand the importance of cleansing the energy fields that make up you and your environment. Although we might not always be able to sense an energy imbalance; we are nevertheless affected by it. Some areas/buildings feel comfortable to us, while others may make us feel edgy, depressed or anxious to get out. After there has
been a heated argument in a room, the atmosphere may feel heavy and dismal. You may even begin to feel irritable yourself. This negative energy, if allowed to exist and even grow (like attracts like), can adversely affect all the inhabitants in that area. In your house, it can even make you, your family, your pets and your plants sick. It will actually make your house sick. Animals are especially vulnerable as they act as buffers for us, and will absorb this negativity until they get physically sick. There, I've said my piece about the importance of cleansing your environment/home. When we cleanse, we're replacing undesirable energy (aka negativity) with desirable or positive energy. Anything can be cleansed and probably should be from time to time. Your car, house, yard, farm, things, your aura. Anything. If you do a cleansing ritual or procedure with anger or fear of the negativity you are trying to release, you will only exchange one kind of negativity for another. You gain nothing. Always enter into any cleansing process with an attitude of love. Negative energy is not bad or evil; it is simply energy that does not sustain you. Nothing is inherently evil --- it is our judgement of it that labels something good or bad. Now for a method. I will discuss one of the ones I use for I can speak from experience on these, although there are many other methods to achieve the same end. Use what works for you.
Smudging, (passing through smoke,) is an ancient method of cleansing that works quite well. I've used it to cleanse my house, and it's very good for smaller items and for cleansing your aura. When smudging a room, work in one direction, spiralling to the center. Which direction you use is up to you - try both. Counter clockwise is usually considered banishing; clockwise is invoking. I usually use Ceremonial White Sage, but garden sage works equally well. Pinon Pine, if you can get it, is super. Pine, of any kind, is generally thought to bring in desirable positive energy; while the sages are more for banishing the negative. Both can be used during the same smudging ritual. You can use powdered sage or pine on charcoal, or a smudge stick. I prefer a small wad of the leaves. Carry a heatproof container (ashtray) in your left hand; the smudge in your right. For a room, try to start near, but not in front of the door, sweeping the smoke into all corners; up to the ceiling and down to the floor. If you use leaves or a smudge stick, knock the ashes off often, so you won't catch anything on fire. It's a good idea to keep a container of water close by, just in case. Repeat the following, if you wish, during the smudging: ***From the Element of Fire Comes this smoke, which is Air. From the Element of Earth Grows this plant, which is Water. I call upon the Elements and the Blessings of SpiritTo please cleanse this (area, space, being, etc.)For the good of all.*** Continue till every inch of the area has been touched by the smoke and you feel that you're done. As with any magickal rite, intent and visualization are important. Visualizing the movement of energy adds a lot of power to the cleansing procedure.
Quick Protection Sphere First be warned, this is not...repeat not...a ritual circle. Ambrosia cannot and will not advocate shortcuts when it comes to ritual work. We do, however, like a quickie spell or two when appropriate (or necessary). This one is great for casting fast, versatile and yes, even mobile protection around anything...And, believe us, we do mean anything. We recommend you use it liberally and often in whatever colors strike your fancy. Enjoy! Begin by visualizing the top half of your sphere coming down from the Heavens to contain whatever it is that you are shielding. 'The Lord Above'Then visualize the bottom half coming out of the ground to meet the top half and form a perfect sphere.'The Lady Below'Now visualize your watchtowers in their respective places around you.'And 'round about the guardians go''Outside this sphere all ill is bound''Where the true witch stands''Is sacred ground.'
Cloaking Spell This spell is specifically meant for protection of the Astral Self. It can be used
in conjunction with the Protection Sphere to provide complete safety during sleep or astral work of any kind. It's also great as a precaution if you have the unfortunate tendency like many of us here at Ambrosia, of accidently falling asleep during meditation. 'I cannot be seen''I cannot be felt''I cannot be heard''I cannot be smelt''By any that seek''Whose intentions are ill''Cloaked as I am''In the force of my will.''I am protected from spelling''Ill-wishes and harm''No evil comes closer''Than the reach of my arm''I walk undetected''For only those of white light to see''And as I have spoken''So now shall it be.' *Change the *I* to *You* and you can cloak children, pets, family and friends you find susceptible to unprotected *wanderings*....Just be certain you aren't crossing that oh-so-thin line into manipulation when you do it.
Vehicle Protection Spell Near my home is a stretch of road the locals call *Chipmunk Alley.* I think most of the chipmunks and squirrels in this part of the world live, and die, on this stretch of road. Well, I got tired of running over the little darlings with my truck and asked for help. I was given this spell to protect, not only those I might hit with my truck, but my truck and its passengers, as well. Not very fancy, but seems to work. I usually start this spell after I start my truck, as it seems to gain power from the truck's engine, too. I have used the word *vehicle* in the spell, but you may want to substitute car, truck, motorcycle, boat, whatever you're in at the time. *************'Surrounding this vehicle is a shield of white,' Visualize this sphere surrounding your vehicle.'And a shield of blue.' Visualize this shield as royal blue in color, and closely surrounding and permeating your vehicle, you
and any passengers.'Together these shields will protect this vehicle and its occupants from all harm and mechanical breakdown.''These shields will protect from harm any that come near this vehicle, especially the four-leggeds and the winged ones.''These shields will remain intact and at full strength until this vehicle returns home.''As I have spoken, so mote it be.' I have found on occasion, and only with this particular spell, the white shield will have a different feel or *texture* to it. Sometimes it seems to be rather rubbery; other times softer; sometimes close to my truck, sometimes quite large. If this happens, don't force anything - just go with the flow. There is a reason this is happening; and as long as the shields are still effective, let it be.
Ball of Light Cleansing and Protection I've found that, no matter how well you shield your home, the astral nasties can still gain entrance. They may be invited in by children and pets, or subconsciously by adult family members. Negative thinking can invite and even create unwanted energies. Never underestimate the power of the mind. This sphere of light saturates an area and eliminates the *space* for the negativity to exist. It is good for cleansing and protecting anything - house, car, object, your aura, yourself.
How to: Imagine a ball of sparkling white light somewhere in the center of your home. See energy pouring into this ball until it becomes blindingly bright and powerful. Now allow it to slowly grow, filling your home with white light. Know that this light is cleansing and banishing all negative energy it touches. See it grow until it spreads through the walls to the outside, completely
encompassing and saturating your home with white light. See it form a permanent, yet *solid* sphere of protection around and throughout your home. Done.
by Galina *Head Admin*
This spell is best performed on a Saturday, the day of Saturn which is associated with contraction and thus protection. Find a quiet place where you will not have any disturbances for at least 20 minutes. First, set three white candles in the center of your table or altar. If you are doing this working to protect someone other than yourself, place a picture of him/her or write their name on a piece of paper and place it with the candles. Place a protection talisman in front of the candles. Anoint the three candles from top to bottom with Protection Oil. Light the first candle while you say, "Spirits of Protection, surround me and my home with light and love. Let none who wish me harm penetrate this sphere of light. Protect me and those I love from harm, so mote it be." Light the second candle and repeat your invocation. Pause for a few moments and picture yourself or your loved one surrounded by a sphere of
light. Repeat both steps with the third candle. While your candles are burning, using quill, ink and parchment to write down what you need protection for (you should think about this before you begin your spell work). Next, light some charcoal and place it in an incense burner or heat safe dish, put a pinch of Protection incense on the charcoal. Take your piece of parchment and waft it through the smoke of the incense while you chant the original invocation, "Spirits of Protection, surround me and my home with light and love. Let none who wish me harm penetrate this sphere of light. Protect me and those I love from harm, so mote it be." Fold you parchment up into a small square and place in along with the herbs and a stone with protection properties into a mojo bag. You can carry the mojo bag with you wherever you go, or you may simply place it under your pillow. Finally, you will let your candles burn all the way out while you meditate on the sphere of protective light surrounding you or your loved one. Once your candles are done burning, your Protection Talisman will be charged and ready for you to wear or place under your pillow with your mojo bag. You may repeat this spell whenever you want to recharge it. Sometimes you will see immediate results, sometimes it can take up to two lunar cycles before you see results. The universe works in mysterious ways and assistance will be provided to you in ways you may never have expected. Once you see results from your spell work, always thank the universe for the assistance provided.
The Role and Function of Thelemic Clergy in Ecclesia Gnostica Catholica
The Christian Apostolic Succession The term "apostolic succession" derives from the Christian tradition that Jesus bestowed particular powers upon his apostles, which they were able to pass on to their successors. While still alive, He gave Peter the "keys of the kingdom of heaven" and the power to "bind" and to "loose" in heaven as on earth (Matthew XVI:18-19). At the resurrection, He bestowed the power to remit and retain sins upon the assembled apostles by breathing upon them and saying "Receive ye the Holy Ghost" (John XX:22-23). The precise formula for conferral of the apostolic succession in the Episcopate
was established later. The essentials are the invocation of the Holy Spirit and the laying on of hands (cheirotonia), with right intent, after due preparation (i.e., after Christian baptism, confirmation and ordination to the Priesthood). The rite of exsufflation, or breathing upon the recipient, is also considered an integral component of the rite by some denominations. The apostolic succession is embodied in the Episcopate of the Catholic, Anglican and Orthodox Churches, as well as within the "wandering bishops" tradition, which includes the French Gnostic Churches. According to Saint Augustine, the powers conferred by a validly transmitted apostolic succession (i.e., the powers to remit and retain sins and to transmit the Holy Ghost) cannot be taken away once conferred; even though the individual may loose his standing, recognition and authority within the Church. Even though the apostolic succession is embodied in the Episcopate, the fact that one holds a validly transmitted apostolic succession does not automatically make one a bishop within any particular church. Episcopal power is derived from the apostolic succession, but Episcopal authority is delegated by the leadership of the Church. The ordination or "consecration" of a bishop may involve a perfectly "valid" conferral of the apostolic succession, but if it was performed without the authorization of the Church leadership, it is "illicit," and conveys no authority in the Church. Within the exoteric Christian community, the apostolic succession is considered to emanate from Jesus and the apostles. However, from a historical and anthropological perspective, its roots are much deeper. The Book of Hebrews (V, VI, and VII) describes how Jesus was made a "Priest for ever after the Order of Melchizedek" by God (in accordance with Psalm 110), and how this eternal Order of Priesthood was the foundation of the spiritual authority of the apostles. The apostolic succession may then be considered to constitute the Order of Melchizedekian Priesthood. Who was Melchizedek? According to the sect of Melchizedekian Gnostics, he was an Avatar of Seth, the third son of Adam. According to cultural anthropologists, he was probably an ancient Jebusite Priest-King of the polytheistic Canaanite
religion, which, being transplanted from Mesopotamia, had its deepest roots in ancient Sumeria. Qabalistically, Melchizedek, King of Salem, is the King of Righteousness and Peace, i.e. Jupiter/Chesed. In addition, as the heir to the patriarchal Hebrew tradition, the apostolic succession of Jesus would naturally have included the spiritual succession of Moses-- who was, of course, an Egyptian initiate. Later, the apostolic succession acquired a series of additional spiritual successions through its relationship with Roman paganism. The early Roman ruler Numa Pompilius (716-673 p.e.v.) founded the College of Pontiffs to govern the pagan religious system of Rome. The president of this college was known as the Pontifex Maximus, "Supreme Pontiff." On his accession as Emperor, Octavian Augustus took this title for himself, and it was thereafter reserved for the Emperor as formal head of the State Religion. After the time of Christ, the idea of monotheism became more popular. The Emperor Elagabalus (218-222 e.v.) established the solar Baal worship of his native Syria as the imperial cult within the Roman pagan milieu. The cult of Elagabalus was short lived, but the main feature, the henotheistic idea of all the diverse gods subordinate to a supreme solar Deity, was resurrected by the Emperor Aurelian (270-274 e.v.) and merged with the Mithraic religion as the imperial cult of the Deus Sol Invictus. Under this system, the Emperor was considered the vicegerent of the supreme god Sol Invictus, who was also known by the names Mithra and Oriens. The Sol Invictus cult was very syncretistic, and incorporated elements of most of the various religions of the Roman Empire of the time, including Christianity. The system of Christianity was, in fact, very compatible with the system of Sol Invictus. There is a third century vault mosaic in the tomb of the Julii under St. Peter's which depicts Christ as Sol, rising in his chariot. The Sol Invictus cult continued to grow under Aurelian's successors and reached its pinnacle of success under the Emperor Constantine I "the Great" (Emp. 310-337 e.v.). Constantine retained the title of Pontifex Maximus
throughout his life, even through his death-bed baptism as a Christian. The Emperor Gratian (Emp. 367-383 e.v.), however, was converted relatively early in his life by St. Ambrose, and renounced the title of Pontifex Maximus in 379 e.v. There is no record, at least no record available to the public, of Gratian having appointed a successor to the office of Pontifex Maximus. However, though he renounced leadership of the state church hierarchy, he did not dissolve it; and that same year, the Bishop of Rome, Damasus I (Papacy 366-384 e.v.), referred to himself as the Pontifex Maximus in a petition to the Emperor for judicial immunity. Damasus was a powerful and ambitious leader. He had won the office of the Roman Episcopate by armed force, and he presided over a notoriously corrupt and sensuous church. He was a suave intellectual who moved easily among the pagan elites of Rome and converted many of them to Christianity. He was also the first of the Bishops of Rome to assert Roman primacy over all other bishops, and, as such, was the first true "pope." Appointment, even clandestine appointment, as supreme head of the Roman State Church, which was ripe for Christian conversion, would have suited his purposes very well. On his baptism in 380 e.v., Gratian's successor Theodosius I "the Great" (Emp. of East 378-394, Emp. of East and West 394-395 e.v.) proclaimed the Christianity of Pope Damasus the official State Religion of the Roman Empire. He then proceeded to issue a number of edicts which rendered the practice of pagan religions illegal. Pope Leo I "the Great" (Papacy 440-461 e.v.) publicly claimed the title of Pontifex Maximus for himself. Finally, under the Papacy of Paul II (1464-1471 e.v.), the title was made an official designation of the office of pope. Authors such as Ragon, Hislop, Inman, Higgins and Forlong have pointed out in detail the conspicuous similarities between the rites and symbols of Roman Catholic Christianity and those of its Roman predecessors, including the substitution of Saints for Gods, the replacement of the College of Pontiffs with
the College of Cardinals, the replacement of the Pontifex Maximus with the Pope, and the celebration of Christ's birthday on December 25, the birthday of Sol Invictus Mithra. We may never know whether Pope Damasus I was actually appointed Pontifex Maximus of the Roman Church. Nonetheless, that mantle fell squarely upon his shoulders and those of his successors. Having either actually or effectively absorbed the Sol Invictus cult, the apostolic succession of the Roman Catholic Church has, since the time of Damasus, conveyed the spiritual successions of nearly all of the pre-Christian pagan/solar faiths of the Roman Empire. Thus, the "apostolic" succession, though considered within the exoteric Christian community to begin and end with Jesus, actually embodies the spiritual successions of the entire Western religious heritage: Christian, Judaic, and Pagan.
The Thelemic/Gnostic Succession As Thelemites, we are little concerned with the exoteric Christian interpretation of apostolic succession. The power to remit and retain sins, which is the entire point of the Christian apostolic succession, is not particularly relevant to Thelemites. Therefore, it is not of critical importance for a bishop of the Thelemic E.G.C. to hold a valid "apostolic succession" as defined by the Canon Law of exoteric Christianity. The spiritual succession we hold from the Master Therion, the Prophet of the Aeon, the founder of our religion, is of much greater significance to us. This Thelemic/Gnostic succession, embodied in the leadership of O.T.O., conveys the power and authority to administer the outer institutions of the Thelemic Religion: the O.T.O. and Gnostic Catholic Church. Just as the Christian apostolic succession, which nominally begins with Jesus, actually conveys the spiritual heritage of many earlier traditions, so does our Thelemic/Gnostic succession from the Master Therion convey all the various
lineal successions of the "constituent originating assemblies of the O.T.O." listed in Book 52, which were conferred upon Crowley by Theodor Reuss when Crowley was made head of O.T.O. for Ireland, Iona and all the Britains. One of these constituent originating assemblies was the Gnostic Catholic Church, which was originally Christian, and whose Episcopate conveyed the traditional apostolic succession through Joseph René Vilatte, one of the "wandering bishops." Thus, our Thelemic Ecclesia Gnostica Catholica has united virtually all of the various spiritual successions of the Western religious tradition in service to the Law of Thelema. The Thelemic/Gnostic succession embodied in the Episcopate of our Gnostic Catholic Church can be considered, in both a symbolic and a spiritual sense, as a heritage of the primitive Order of Priesthood, as a transmission of the Essence of all the "saints of the true church of old time," whose mingled Blood fills the Cup of Babylon. Upon this succession we may rightfully claim the heirship, communion and benediction of those saints. Through the right use of this succession we may build the invisible edifice of a Spiritual Ecclesia as we celebrate our Gnostic Mass; and by the power of this succession we may once again awaken the egregore of the True Church of Old Time upon the Earth.
Priesthood and Gnosis One of the most commonly cited "invariants" of Gnosticism is the doctrine of personal illumination: that the salvific Gnosis is obtained directly from the transcendent realm by each individual Gnostic. Some modern writers have gone so far as to opine that the violent opposition of the early Catholic Church against the Gnostics was a result of the refusal of the Gnostics to accept the concept of a mediatory priesthood. There were, of course, many other reasons beside this; but this idea has led some to question the value of an ecclesiastical hierarchy in the E.G.C. First, it should be pointed out that many classical Gnostic systems had
ecclesiastical hierarchies. Most of the Alexandrian and Syrian Gnostic groups were centered around an authoritative Teacher and his deputies. The Manichaean Church had an elaborate and very rigid hierarchical system composed of lay members (Hearers) and a clergy (Elect), who were governed by 360 Elders, 72 Bishops, 12 Masters and a single Archegos or chief. Second, while many of us tend to view the "Gnosis" as a true unitive experience, like Samadhi, or the "Enlightenment" of Zen Buddhism, or the Knowledge and Conversation of the Holy Guardian Angel, many of the Classical Gnostic systems viewed it simply as the personal conviction that one's own true nature was divine, and, as such, that one dwelt in the material world as a "stranger in a strange land," as a traveler whose ultimate goal was the transcendent Pleroma. This belief could only bring "salvation" if it were truly a deep knowledge as opposed to a purely intellectual belief. It required the strength of what William James called the "conversion experience." A Gnostic clergy would have been useful to those in pursuit of this experience: as sources of theoretical and technical information, of spiritual guidance and reassurance; to answer their questions, resolve their doubts and help them through their studies and meditations to come ultimately to the full personal realization of the Gnosis. The real distinction between the clergy of the Gnostic and Catholic Christian systems was that the Catholic priest actually took the part of Christ in intervening on behalf of the individual; whereas in the Gnostic Christian systems, the clergy assisted the individual toward accomplishing this for him or herself. The two systems had similarly divergent doctrines on the nature of Christ. The Catholics held, and hold, him to be the effecter of World Salvation through the principle of vicarious sacrifice; the Gnostics held him to be a divine Illuminator, pointing the way toward salvation for those with the ability to see.
Function of the E.G.C. Clergy In the E.G.C., as in the Christian Gnostic systems, personal Gnosis is stressed, so our clergy do not serve as intervening spiritually on behalf of the congregation. Although they may, if they have the ability, serve somewhat in the same capacity as the Classical Gnostic clergy, i.e. as teachers, facilitators and counselors, the principal duty of the E.G.C. clergy is to see that the rituals are "rightly performed with joy & beauty." As such, they are the official representatives of the Church and the custodians of its paradigms; they are responsible for communicating the Word of the Thelemic E.G.C. to the world. In the Roman Catholic Church, there is no such thing as an incompetent priest in celebrating Mass. If he is duly ordained and says the words, the miracle is alleged to occur. It does not matter if he mumbles his lines with his face buried in the Missal, wears his chasuble backwards and forgets to ring the bell. Such is not the case in the E.G.C. Where the Catholic Mass is a miraculous rite, depending for its efficacy on the Grace of God; the Gnostic Mass is a magical rite, depending for its efficacy on the knowledge, power and talent of the celebrants. The effectiveness of the rite is directly proportional to the magical skill of the officers. The officers must, then, be magicians: they are technicians performing a complex technical procedure. They must, therefore, be educated in its theory and trained in its practice to be effective. The E.G.C. clergy also serve a dramatic function as performers in a mystery play, whether they are presiding over the Gnostic Mass, or a baptism, or a wedding, or any other sacred rite. Their roles are those of specific divine forces which are interior elements of each individual as well as forces of nature. As such, their function is to create a sympathetic magical response in the consciousness of those present. The effectiveness of this function is directly proportional to the dramatic ability of the officers.
Another aspect of the function of the E.G.C. clergy is social leadership. One of the basic functions of any religion is to define a community; and churches have always served the communal aspects of religion. The clergy of a church, whatever their other duties may be, must work to promote a sense of community and friendship among the members of the church. While the initiatory rites of M:.M:.M:. and O.T.O. are restricted to the members of certain degrees, the Gnostic Mass and most of the other rites of E.G.C. are open to all members, and in some cases, even to non-members. The E.G.C. thus serves as the social focal point of the Thelemic community, and its clergy are responsible for fostering harmony and fellowship. In summary, the clergy of E.G.C. must be thoroughly familiar with the official ceremony of the Gnostic Mass and must have a good general understanding of its theory. They must have a relatively clear conception of the basic doctrines of Thelema in general and of the O.T.O. and E.G.C. in particular (in accordance, of course, with their degree of initiation). They should be familiar with the theory and techniques of ceremonial Magick and group dramatic ritual in particular. Ideally, they should also have a certain amount of aptitude for dramatic performance: they should be understand teamwork, they should "look good in robes," as Crowley put it, and they should be able to draw and hold the attention of those attending the ritual. They should, as visible leaders, be able to offer their services as facilitators to their congregations, in the form of teaching and counseling. They should endeavour to create and maintain a sense of community within the congregation. They should understand the differences, as well as the similarities, between their roles as Thelemic clergy and those of the clergy of other religions. Finally, they should establish their link with the egregore of the church through initiation, ordination and regular celebration of the Gnostic Mass.
9 Mindfulness Rituals to Make Your Day Better
“Smile, breathe and go slowly.” - Thich Nhat Hanh, Zen Buddhist monk
Are you simply moving through your day, without fully living? I did this for many years. It was as if life were just passing by, and I was waiting for something to happen. I always felt like I was preparing for something later. But today isn’t preparation for tomorrow. Today’s the main event. Fully live today by being mindful. I realize this is easier said than done — mindfulness is a habit that’s not easily picked up. And so I’ve decided to share with you some of my favorite mindfulness rituals to help you appreciate every moment.
You don’t need to do all of these, but give a few of them a try to see if they make your day better. Mindfulness Rituals Ritual isn’t about doing a routine mindlessly. It’s a way of building something good into your life, so that you don’t forget what’s important. Done mindfully, a ritual can remind you to be conscious. Done mindlessly, a ritual is meaningless. Here are a few of my favorites: 1. Sit in the morning. When you wake up, in the quiet of the morning, perhaps as your coffee is brewing, get a small cushion and sit on the floor. I will often use this opportunity to stretch, as I am very inflexible. I feel every muscle in my body, and it is like I am slowly awakening to the day. I’ll also just sit, and focus on my breathing going in and out. I’m an absolute beginner when it comes to meditation, but this always starts my day right. 2. Brush your teeth. I assume we all brush our teeth, but often we do it while thinking of other things. Try fully concentrating on the action of brushing, on each stroke of each tooth, going from one side of the mouth to the other. You end up doing a better job, and it helps you realize how much we do on autopilot. 3. Eat mindfully. Turn off the TV, put away the computer and mobile devices, even put away the book or newspaper. If you eat with any of these things (most people do), eating without them will seem boring. And yet, unless you do this, you are not truly appreciating your food. I like eating my oats (with nuts and berries — ) mindfully, paying attention to each bite. It makes the food taste better, and I eat slowly and with gratefulness.
4. Wash your bowl. When you’re done eating, wash your dish immediately. Do it while paying full attention to your washing, to the water and suds. 5. Drink tea. There’s something ancient about the tea ceremony — and when you drink tea as a mindfulness ritual, you’re connecting with millions of others who have done so over the centuries. Make your own tea ceremony — prepare the tea carefully and mindfully, pour it slowly, sip it with thoughtfulness. See if you can set aside one time each day to do this, and it will transform your day. 6. Walk slowly. I like to take breaks from work, and go outside for a little walk. Walk slowly, each step a practice in awareness. Pay attention to your breathing, to everything around you, to the sounds and light and texture of objects. 7. Read in silence. Find a quiet time (mornings or evenings are great for me), and a quiet spot, and read a good novel. Have no television or computers on nearby, and just immerse yourself in the world of the novel. It might seem contradictory to let your mind move from the present into the time of the novel, but it’s a great practice in focus. Also, I love a good novel more than almost anything else. 8. Look at someone gratefully. Each day, find someone you care about. Instead of just seeing what you always see, really look at the person. Try not to do it creepily. See this person for the miracle that she is, and be grateful for her existence. If you’re feeling generous, tell that person how thankful you are for her. 9. Work with focus. Start your workday by choosing one task that will make a big difference in your work, and clearing everything else away. Just do that one task, and don’t switch to other tasks. Single-tasking is a great way to find focus. Increase your Monk Mind.
These rituals aren’t the only time you should be mindful, but they’re great reminders. Today, try a few of them to fully live and fully appreciate this wonderful day.
Meditation Astral Traveling
Meditation Astral Traveling As I sit comfortably I become aware of my consciousness Within my mind And I begin to focus my mind On my body of light And I visualize that I have a body of light And I feel and sense my body of light Like a halo of light around me And I feel this light As real as I feel my physical body And now I visualize an experience I feel My self stepping away from my physical body And I feel myself becoming this body of light Completely separate from my physical body But this body of light is free From the limitations of the flesh
And I feel my body of light Rising upwards away from my physical body And up through the sky And I feel myself high above As a body of light And I can feel my hands and feet But they are light And I feel the same Except filled with light and peace And in this light I become free from all limitations And I feel myself high above And now I feel myself entering into a region of golden white light And in this region of golden white light I feel at peace And I feel myself high above And I feel myself radiating this light to the world And now I feel I am a body of light and can fly As free as a bird And I feel myself flying high above Radiating a light to the world Like a plane Its energy is peaceful I am peace, I am light I am calm And relaxed And as a body of light I can travel in a second To anywhere in the world Hovering Radiating good will and peace to everyone And in this state of light I visit everyone I know
And bestow upon them light And I feel free And now as a body of light, I return back to my physical body And I enjoyed the journey Knowing that I can be free of this physical body And fly to the astral region Every time I have a powerful thought And I am relaxed and radiating light within myself,
Meditation : Peace of Mind
Daily meditation to attain peace of mind.
The act of meditation for at least 15 minutes in the early morning will have a positive effect on your mind during the entire day. I continue to radiate peace to the world as I fill my mind with peace love and light ......... through this peace i feel love and benevolence for all souls ...... I see on the screen of my mind a radiant light and this light feels gentle and soothing ...... I the peaceful soul feel at peace with myself, this stillness of mind enables me to feel content and complete ............ This is the wonderful journey of self discovery. Peace of mind using meditation is a process that involves an extended time period and patience is required.

We have come to see many people begin to awaken this year and finding themselves pondering and wondering of things they never have before. They Have questions, and are seeking guidance, and those with the answers, should be reaching out, guiding them in this new journey. Instead I notice a judgemental approach, cold and not exactly helpful. This can be scary for those that are new to our way of life or especially for those that know nothing about pagan ways and only have knowledge of what they have seen on movies or been taught by society which in it self will make them feel alone and scared to reach out. I think it is important, that we remember that though they may still be new and a bit naive about the knowledge they are seeking, those that have the knowledge be patient, non-judgemental, and as helpful as they can, without shutting them down so quickly. Here in the past few months there seems to be more attacks on other religions
from people that have big audiences that are saying we are evil, we are satanist, and that we are part of a social elite program's. And most of these people do not know or understand who and what we are. And in truth they themselves have been mislead by society and religion and people that wish to control the masses. It is also important that we remember that it is misinformation that has been taught from a young age and will take time and and patience to show them otherwise. Obviously, we do not force ourselves or our beliefs on others as other religions do, but when asked about them, and those that are obviously searching, that we embrace, and show them what we really are about, and that our beliefs are not even close to what has been told to them thru the ages. It is not for us or anyone to decide which path should be followed, for all paths do lead to one, as all beliefs are tied. The stories are many but in the end it is the same story being told through different cultures in different ways. They are not wrong, and neither are we, what is wrong is the way we have hurt each other throughout the ages with our bickering on who's version is right. The stories are not meant to be literal, but instead as a roadmap, a guide. Each story has a purpose, it is up to us to look deeper and find the hidden meaning.
THE HERBAL HARVEST
Posted by Christine *Admin* EMC Dr. Leonard Perry, Extension Professor University of Vermont
An herb is any plant that is used in whole or part as an ingredient for flavor or fragrance. To get the most out of herbs, harvest them at their peak of freshness and store or preserve them properly. Harvest herbs when the oils responsible for flavor and aroma are at their peak. The timing depends on what plant part is being harvested and its intended use. Most herbs are cultivated for their foliage and should be harvested just before the flower buds open. Although herbs such as chives are quite attractive in bloom, flowering can cause the foliage to develop an off-flavor.
In general the best time to harvest for maximum flavor is in early morning. Avoid bruising leaves, and avoid leaving them in the sun where they’ll start to lose their oils. Rinse in cold water, then shake gently to remove some moisture. Remove any diseased or wilted plant parts. Many herbs, especially parsley, chives, mint, and oregano, can be harvested continually for fresh use beginning as soon as the plant has enough foliage to sustain growth. Harvest herbs grown for seeds-- dill, caraway, coriander, and cumin, for example-- as the fruits change color from green to brown or gray but before they scatter to the ground. Collect herb flowers such as borage and chamomile just before full flowering. Harvest herb roots including bloodroot, chicory, ginseng, and golden seal in the fall, after the foliage fades. Just be sure to mark the plants before the foliage drops, so you don't forget where they are located. You can harvest fragrant herbs and dry them for potpourri. If you don't intend to use herbs immediately, drying is the most common way to preserve them. Tie leafy herbs with long stems in bunches and hang to air dry. Easiest to dry this way are the sturdy herbs such as rosemary, sage, thyme, summer savory, and parsley. Rinse dust and soil from foliage, shake off excess water, and remove dead or damaged leaves. Then hang upside down in a warm, dry, well-ventilated place. To preserve foliage color, avoid drying in sunlight. Enclose seed heads in paper bags to catch seeds as they fall. Or you can horizontal on dry on wire mesh trays in well-ventilated areas. If you have a dehydrator (useful too for fruits and vegetables), this is a quick and easy method for drying. It is useful for high-moisture herbs such as basil, oregano, tarragon, lemon balms, and mints. If these aren’t dried quickly they may mold. Use a low dehydrator setting, between 95 and 115 degrees (F) is ideal, slightly higher if the air is humid. Wash and shake as you would if air drying, then place in single layers on trays. Depending on the herb, it may dry
in as soon as one to 4 hours, but usually within 12 hours. Check periodically, and remove when leaves crumble when touched and stems break when bent. An old-fashioned method of preservation is to salt-cure by placing herbs between layers of coarse grade or regular table salt. Seal the drying salt in an airtight container such as a glass jar or plastic tub. Salt-drying preserves herbs for future use as well as produces herb-flavored salt that can be used as a seasoning in cooking. When dried, leaves may be stored whole or crumbled. Store in airtight and dry containers in cool and dark. Remember that dried herbs are 3 to 4 times stronger than if fresh, so use proportionately less in recipes. Cut flower heads of thyme when 4 to 6 inches long and at full bloom. Use dried thyme in soups, stews, sauces, dressings, and to flavor meats. The relatively larger leaves of sage are best cut before or during bloom. Dried sage leaves are often used with meats and sausage. Fresh mint leaves are known by many as a flavoring for iced drinks, but dried they flavor tea, sauces such as for lamb, and fruit salads. Parsley can be cut as soon as plants are 4 to 6 inches tall, and may continue through the season. Then you can dig the plants, pot, and grow in a sunny location indoors through fall and into winter. Fresh or dried, parsley is used in many ways, particularly in Italian cooking and sauces. Chives are another common herb that has many uses, can be cut continually, then potted and brought indoors for winter. It is also a hardy perennial out of doors. Not only do the flowers lessen the flavor, but if they form seeds you’ll have chives seeded all around. They give a mild onion flavor to many recipes, and are especially favored with eggs and cottage cheese. Harvest marjoram leaves and flowers either just before bloom or when
beginning to bloom. Use marjoram either fresh or dried to flavor soups, egg or potato recipes, and meats. You can use dill leaves or flowers to flavor soups and fish (it’s a great addition to tuna fish sandwiches). It can be boiled with cabbage, cauliflower, or turnips. If using the seeds to flavor dill pickles, harvest when they are fully developed but still green. More on harvesting and preserving all types of crops can be found online from the National Center for Home Food Preservation (www.ugs.edu/nchfp/). ODIN IN GEIRROD'S PALACE VII
IT was as lovely a morning as ever dawned when Geirrod and Agnar, sons of old King Hraudung, pushed their boat out from the rocky shore for a day's fishing. The sky overhead was as blue as Odin's wonderful mantle; and the sea beneath them as blue as the sky. They could see the mountain tops far off behind them and every rock along the beach for miles and miles away. It was happiness just to be out of doors in such weather, and as the rowers bent to their work there was such strength and joy in them that the boat skimmed
over the water like a living thing. When they were fairly out where the wind blew freshly and the waves danced merrily, they let their lines into the sea and began to lay wagers on the luck. Geirrod, who was selfish and pushing, generally got the best of things, and was very certain that he would carry home more fish than Agnar. But before they had talked much about it they were too busy to talk at all. Such luck befell them as they had never had before. No sooner did the line touch the water than it was travelling off in the mouth of some hungry fish who was quickly landed in the bottom of the boat. All the morning the boys were so busy that they did not once look at the sky, and when the sun began to sink a little toward the west they took no thought of the dark clouds scudding along overhead nor of the rising wind whistling over the white caps. And while they let down and drew up their lines the sky grew darker and darker, until not a spot of blue was to be seen anywhere, and the wind rose higher and higher, driving the sea in spray before it. When at last the storm broke on Geirrod and Agnar it was too late to reach the shore. The waves ran so high that the boat was almost swamped in the trough of the sea, and the next minute the angry waters had snatched both oars out of the hands of the rowers and flung them far off to leeward. There was nothing to do but to sit still and be carried on by wave and wind. The boys were good Norsemen, and though they were drenched to the skin, and blinded by spray, they were cool and brave. The roar of the sea and the tempest was sweeter music in their ears than the melody of harp-strings in their father's palace. Holding on as best they could they watched the rushing clouds until darkness fell on the sea and they were alone with the tempest. They could not speak to each other, for the uproar of the wind and the waves drowned all other sounds; they could do nothing; they could only wait; and as they waited the night wore on. Suddenly there came a sound they both knew, and which made even their bold hearts beat a little faster,—the sound of the breakers. They strained their eyes, peering anxiously into the darkness, but not a thing could they see. They were driven on faster and faster, until a
mighty wave lifted the boat a moment in mid-air and then flung it broken and shattered on to the rocks. How Geirrod and Agnar got ashore they could never tell. They remembered nothing but an awful crash, a blinding rush of waters, and then, coming slowly back to life they found themselves bruised and bleeding on the shore of an island far off the coast they had sailed from. When morning broke at last, clear and cold, as if the earth had been made over instead of torn to pieces in the night, they made their way slowly and painfully back from the shore. They had gone but a little way when they were overjoyed to see a thin column of smoke rising into the clear air, and a moment after they were at the door of a little farm-house. The farmer was very poor, for the island was small and rocky, but he had a striking form, and a face more noble than any the boys had ever seen at their father's court. "We have been wrecked upon this island," said Geirrod, who was always the first to speak. "Can you give us food?" The farmer looked at them thoughtfully, as if he saw a great deal in their faces that was interesting. "Certainly we can," said he, in a deep, musical voice. "No man ever went hungry from Grimner's door. Here, wife," turning back to the open door, "set what you have before these young sailors." Geirrod and Agnar had sat at kings' tables all their lives, but they had never eaten at such a feast as the farmer's good wife spread for them on the plain table. Like her husband, she was very large of form and beautiful of feature, and she looked as if she might be the mother of half of the world, as indeed she was, and of the other half too. Breakfast over, the boys told the story of their parentage, their fishing, the storm and the wreck, the farmer glancing at his wife, from time to time, as if it greatly pleased him.
"Boys," said he when the story was told, "the season changed with the storm which brought you here. Winter has set in, and you must stay under our roof until spring. The house is not very large, but it will keep us all, I trust." The good wife nodded approval, and the boys themselves were not sorry to stay, so great a fancy had they already taken to the pair. What a winter that was! The days were so short that they could hardly be called days at all. The cold was bitter, the winds roared about the little island, and the sea rushed upon it as if it meant to sweep the little piece of earth out of sight forever; but the boys cared for none of these things. Agnar spent all his time with the farmer's wife, and learned to love her as if she were his mother; but Geirrod never left Grimner's side for an hour if he could help it. Never was there such a farmer before. He seemed to know everything, and he was willing to tell the boy all he knew himself. He told him stories of the strong and valiant Norsemen who had made perilous voyages and performed mighty deeds of valour; he described the wonders of the heavens and the secrets of the sea and the mysteries of earth; he even once or twice spoke of the gods themselves, and of Asgard, where they dwelt a glorious com- pany of strong spirits; and when he spoke of these things his eyes flashed and his form grew so large that he seemed to Geirrod no longer the island farmer, but a god in human guise. He spoke of courage too, and of honour, truthfulness and hospitality, until the boy's selfish heart grew generous for a little while, and he wanted to do some noble thing himself. In such talks as these, and with short wanderings about the storm-beaten shores of the island, the winter passed quickly away, and before the boys were ready to go the sky had grown soft and the water calm again. Grimner built a new boat for them, and one morning, when all was ready, they pushed out, with many farewells, from the home that had sheltered them so many months, and rowed swiftly homeward. Grimner's last earnest word to Geirrod was, "Be true and noble." But Geirrod was too selfish to carry away the great
thoughts which the farmer had given him; the burning words, the stories of great deeds he had listened to had made him ambitious to be strong, but not to be good. No sooner were the boys afloat than evil thoughts took possession of him and held him until the boat touched shore on the mainland, and then they mastered him entirely, so that he sprang out on to the land and gave the boat a mighty lurch back into the sea, shouting to Agnar, "Go away and may the evil spirits seize you!" Then, without looking back, he hastened to the palace, where he was at once greeted as King, for his father was dead. Agnar, after many adventures, landed in a far-off part of the country, and ended by marrying a giantess. Years passed away, and Geirrod had almost forgotten the evil he had done his brother; but the Fates never let the sins of men go unpunished. It happened one day that as Odin, the father of the gods and of men, and his wife Frigg were sitting upon their throne overlooking the whole earth, they spoke of the boys who had been with them on the island; for the farmer Grimner and his wife were none other than the greatest of the gods. "Look at Agnar," said Odin, "whom you brought up, wasting his time with a giantess, while my foster son Geirrod rules his kingdom right royally." Now although Frigg was a goddess, she had some weaknesses like the rest of us, and she was annoyed that her teaching had done so little for Agnar, and that Odin should notice it too, so she answered, "It's all very well to talk about Geirrod's reigning right royally, but he is no true King, for he puts his guests to torture." Odin was indignant that such a charge should be brought against his favourite, and after much dispute the two laid a wager, and Odin said he would visit Geirrod in disguise and settle the matter himself.
No one gave him a thought of pity save little
Now Geirrod was not really inhospitable, but Frigg sent word to him to keep a sharp look-out for a dangerous wizard who was coming his way; and so it happened that one morning when a very old man, in a long robe of grey fur, stopped at the door and asked shelter, the King had him brought into the great council chamber, and began to question him. He asked him who he was, from what country he came, and what was the end of his journey, but not a word would the old man answer. Whereupon Geirrod, getting very angry and not a little frightened, had two fires built on the stone floor, and bound the stranger between them. Eight days the old man sat there in the awful heat,
silent and motionless No one gave him a thought of pity or a word of comfort save little Agnar, Geirrod's son, who brought him a cooling drink, and told him how cruel he thought his father was. On the last day the fires had crept so near that the fur coat began to burn, and then suddenly the old man found his voice, and what a voice it was! It filled the council chamber like the tones of some great organ, so sweet and deep and wonderful it was. Bound between the blazing flames that joined their fiery tongues above his head and beat fiercely against the vaulted roof, the old man broke into such a song as had never been heard on earth before. He sang the birth of gods, the glories of Asgard, the secrets of fate, such things as only Odin himself could know; and as the song deepened in its tone, and the awful secrets of the other world were revealed, Geirrod's throne trembled beneath him, for in the tortured stranger he saw now the mighty Odin himself. He started up to break the bonds and scatter the flaming brands, dropped his sword, caught it by a swift thrust, slipped suddenly, fell on the glittering blade, and rolled dead at Odin's feet. His sin was punished. Odin vanished, and little Agnar was King.
THE APPLES OF IDUN VIII ONCE upon a time Odin, Loke, and Hœner started on a journey. They had often travelled together before on all sorts of errands, for they had a great many things to look after, and more than once they had fallen into trouble through the prying, meddlesome, malicious spirit of Loke, who was never so happy as when he was doing wrong. When the gods went on a journey they travelled fast and hard, for they were strong, active spirits who loved nothing so much as hard work, hard blows, storm, peril, and struggle. There were no roads through the country over which they made their way, only high mountains to be climbed by rocky paths, deep valleys into which the sun hardly looked during half the year, and swift-rushing streams, cold as ice, and treacherous to the surest foot and the strongest arm. Not a bird flew through the air, not an animal sprang through the trees. It was as still as a desert. The
gods walked on and on, getting more tired and hungry at every step. The sun was sinking low over the steep, pine-crested mountains, and the travellers had neither breakfasted nor dined. Even Odin was beginning to feel the pangs of hunger, like the most ordinary mortal, when suddenly, entering a little valley, the famished gods came upon a herd of cattle. It was the work of a minute to kill a great ox and to have the carcass swinging in a huge pot over a roaring fire. But never were gods so unlucky before! In spite of their hunger the pot would not boil. They piled on the wood until the great flames crackled and licked the pot with their fiery tongues, but every time the cover was lifted there was the meat just as raw as when it was put in. It is easy to imagine that the travellers were not in very good humor. As they were talking about it, and wondering how it could be, a voice called out from the branches of the oak overhead, "If you will give me my fill I'll make the pot boil." The gods looked first at each other and then into the tree, and there they discovered a great eagle. They were glad enough to get their supper on almost any terms, so they told the eagle he might have what he wanted if he would only get the meat cooked. The bird was as good as his word, and in less time than it takes to tell it supper was ready. Then the eagle flew down and picked out both shoulders and both legs. This was a pretty large share, it must be confessed, and Loke, who was always angry when anybody got more than he, no sooner saw what the eagle had taken than he seized a great pole and began to beat the rapacious bird unmercifully. Whereupon a very singular thing happened, as singular things always used to happen when the gods were concerned: the pole stuck fast in the huge talons of the eagle at one end, and Loke stuck fast at the other end. Struggle as he might, he could not get loose, and as the great bird sailed away over the tops of the trees, Loke went pounding along on the ground, striking against rocks and branches until he was bruised half to death.
The eagle was not an ordinary bird by any means, as Loke sown found when he begged for mercy. The giant Thjasse happened to be flying abroad in his eagle plumage when the hungry travellers came under the oak and tried to cook the ox. It was into his hands that Loke had fallen, and he was not to get away until he had promised to pay roundly for his freedom. If there was one thing which the gods prized above their other treasures in Asgard, it was the beautiful fruit of Idun, kept by the goddess in a golden casket and given to the gods to keep them forever young and fair. Without these Apples all their power could not have kept them from getting old like the meanest of mortals. Without these Apples of Idun Asgard itself would have lost its charm; for what would heaven be without youth and beauty forever shining through it? Thjasse told Loke that he could not go unless he would promise to bring him the Apples of Idun. Loke was wicked enough for anything; but when it came to robbing the gods of their immortality, even he hesitated. And while he hesitated the eagle dashed hither and thither, flinging him against the sides of the mountains and dragging him through the great tough boughs of the oaks until his courage gave out entirely, and he promised to steal the Apples out of Asgard and give them to the giant. Loke was bruised and sore enough when he got on his feet again to hate the giant who handled him so roughly, with all his heart, but he was not unwilling to keep his promise to steal the Apples, if only for the sake of tormenting the other gods. But how was it to be done? Idun guarded the golden fruit of immortality with sleepless watchfulness. No one ever touched it but herself, and a beautiful sight it was to see her fair hands spread it forth for the morning feasts in Asgard. The power which Loke possessed lay not so much in his own strength, although he had a smooth way of deceiving people, as in the goodness of others who had no thought of his doing wrong because they never did wrong themselves.
Not long after all this happened, Loke came carelessly up to Idun as she was gathering her Apples to put them away in the beautiful carven box which held them. "Good morning, goddess," said he. "How fair and golden your Apples are!" "Yes," answered Idun; "the bloom of youth keeps them always beautiful." "I never saw anything like them," continued Loke slowly, as if he were talking about a matter of no importance, "until the other day." Idun looked up at once with the greatest interest and curiosity in her face. She was very proud of her Apples, and she knew no earthly trees, however large and fair, bore the immortal fruit. "Where have you seen any Apples like them?" she asked. "Oh, just outside the gates," said Loke indifferently. "If you care to see them I'll take you there. It will keep you but a moment. The tree is only a little way off." Idun was anxious to go at once. "Better take your Apples with you to compare them with the others," said the wily god, as she prepared to go. Idun gathered up the golden Apples and went out of Asgard, carrying with her all that made it heaven. No sooner was she beyond the gates than a mighty rushing sound was heard, like the coming of a tempest, and before she could think or act, the giant Thjasse, in his eagle plumage, was bearing her swiftly away through the air to his desolate, icy home in Thrymheim, where, after vainly trying to persuade her to let him eat the Apples and be forever young like the gods, he kept her a lonely prisoner. Loke, after keeping his promise and delivering Idun into the hands of the
giant, strayed back into Asgard as if nothing had happened. The next morning, when the gods assembled for their feast, there was no Idun. Day after day went past, and still the beautiful goddess did not come. Little by little the light of youth and beauty faded from the home of the gods, and they themselves became old and haggard. Their strong, young faces were lined with care and furrowed by age, their raven locks passed from gray to white, and their flashing eyes became dim and hollow. Brage, the god of poetry, could make no music while his beautiful wife was gone he knew not whither. Morning after morning the faded light broke on paler and ever paler faces, until even in heaven the eternal light of youth seemed to be going out forever. Finally the gods could bear the loss of power and joy no longer. They made rigorous inquiry. They tracked Loke on that fair morning when he led Idun beyond the gates; they seized him and brought him into solemn council, and when he read in their haggard faces the deadly hate which flamed in all their hearts against his treachery, his courage failed, and he promised to bring Idun back to Asgard if the goddess Freyja would lend him her falcon-guise. No sooner said than done; and with eager gaze the gods watched him as he flew away, becoming at last only a dark moving speck against the sky. After long and weary flight Loke came to Thrymheim, and was glad enough to find Thjasse gone to sea and Idun alone in his dreary house. He changed her instantly into a nut, and taking her thus disguised in his talons, flew away as fast as his falcon wings could carry him. And he had need of all his speed, for Thjasse, coming suddenly home and finding Idun and her precious fruit gone, guessed what had happened, and, putting on his eagle plumage, flew forth in a mighty rage, with vengeance in his heart. Like the rushing wings of a tempest, his mighty pinions beat the air and bore him swiftly onward. From mountain peak to mountain peak he measured his wide course, almost grazing at times the murmuring pine forests, and then sweeping high in mid-air with nothing above but the arching sky, and nothing beneath but the tossing sea.
At last he sees the falcon far ahead, and now his flight becomes like the flash of the lightning for swiftness, and like the rushing of clouds for uproar. The haggard faces of the gods line the walls of Asgard and watch the race with tremulous eagerness. Youth and immortality are staked upon the winning of Loke. He is weary enough and frightened enough too, as the eagle sweeps on close behind him; but he makes desperate efforts to widen the distance between them. Little by little the eagle gains on the falcon. The gods grow white with fear; they rush off and prepare great fires upon the walls. With fainting, drooping wing the falcon passes over and drops exhausted by the wall. In an instant the fires have been lighted, and the great flames roar to heaven. The eagle sweeps across the fiery line a second later, and falls, maimed and burned, to the ground, where a dozen fierce hands smite the life out of him, and the great giant Thjasse perishes among his foes. Idun resumes her natural form as Brage rushes to meet her. The gods crowd round her. She spreads the feast, the golden Apples gleaming with unspeakable lustre in the eyes of the gods. They eat; and once more their faces glow with the beauty of immortal youth, their eyes flash with the radiance of divine power, and, while Idun stands like a star for beauty among the throng, the song of Brage is heard once more; for poetry and immortality are wedded again.
THE BOOK OF CEREMONIAL MAGIC
An in-depth study into the higher practices of magick and the understanding of our true being. I most first state I am not a big fan of anything A.E. Waite published due to the fact that has been documented that he copied older works and claimed them as his own and he changed and omitted things within such has the triangle and circle in the geoitie. The original use is as a scrying mirror not as a summoning and binding circle which too his credit does work but was not how it was originally written in the old text from which he found them. With that said this book has a wealth of knowledge and will open up new doors
within your mind. It will also give you a deep understanding of the importance of Ceremonial Magick. It is truly a great read as long as you keep an open mind and don't take everything at face value or as complete facts. After all he was bond by oaths to never reveal the true mysteries of occult practices that took place inside the inner temples, but one who is open enough can see those sections and see the truth within. I give this book 3 1/2 star's and do recommend it to those that wish to further learn and understand the true workings of ceremonial magick which will lead us to the next stages of our growth within the occult.
Hope you all enjoy all the good reading out there and never judge a book by it's cover or other's opinions, read it and see for yourself you might just be amazed at what you find
~This is the last month we will be posting this section~ As we enter July and we americans celebrate our independence day and look ahead to the Olympics we really start to see that the idea of independence in this day of age we live in is but a dream than what it once stood for. Each day laws are past that steal our very right to freedom away and now as of June 28th we no longer have a say in our own health care, have we not learned from our past history. It just goes to show that even our most high court has become just as corrupt as our government. All I have to say about this is remember what our forefathers said about the last tax, which is why we celebrate our independence day, so now all our government and legal systems has shown is that they have no respect for us or the very rights freedoms that so many people fought and gave there lives for! I have had enough with this topic. Now on to the Olympics if we should even call it that. I mean it looks more like a stage for war than that of peace and unity. Since when does the Olympic's become a military policed event. I fail to see the logic of this for it does not represent peace and unity but fear and domination. In truth it goes against the very ideas and principles of the great Olympics, it was about
bringing nations together in peace and the celebration of unity and comadraty. Nations use to put there difference aside and peace would be called during wars. The ideas of showing that all the world can come together on one grand stage and compete in the spirit of games and show that the spirit of peace and unity is more important than that of war. I am sure each and everyone out there can remember memorable moments from each Olympics, such emotions laid out for all the world to see, the coming together of all the nations. I truly feel that after this Olympics there will be a dark shadow cast on what the Olympics truly stands for, but instead will be remembered as the day that the military took over saying that peace and unity has no part of the games and that only war is the way to achieve peace and unity which goes against what the Olympic's stand for!!! I know there will always be war and un rest but let us not tarnish the ideas and beliefs of our for fathers and ancestors who fought and died to give us our freedoms and morals to live by. There teachings were simple freedom and peace should be our goal, not oppression and fear...
Lets us remember our histories and what our for fathers died for, let us remember what the great Olympics stood for, not what it has become, Let not their the memories, ideas and beliefs be in vain but lived through us in the times of need...
~This is the last month we will be posting this section~ Io Non Ho Paura (I'm Not Scared)
From the moment the phrase Io Non Ho Paura (I'm Not Scared) appears, scrawled on a rock wall during the opening credits, until the final indelible fade-to-black when it appears once more, Italian director Gabriele Salvatores presents an eloquent coming-of-age tale about a young boy with uncommon courage. The boy is Michele (Giuseppe Cristiano), a creative, inquisitive youngster who lives with his parents and kid sister in a rural rundown village on the outskirts of nowhere. He roams the gorgeous arid fields with his friends, and then rushes home to eat dinner and arm-wrestle his father. It appears that Dad is
away for chunks of time, but neither Michele nor the audience gets enough information to fill in the blanks. The pressures of impressing his father, caring for his sister and just being a kid implode on Michele when he makes a discovery that changes his life irrevocably. After uncovering a loose piece of sheet metal out in the fields, Michele finds·well, for the sake of avoiding a spoiler, let's say he finds someone rather than something. A person that has the potential to open his eyes, yet ruin his life. Salvatores, directing his first major international release since winning the Best Foreign Film Oscar for Mediterraneo (1991), shows us an Italy you don't see in Under The Tuscan Sun. He combines the grittiness of tough times and horrible men with pastoral Italian fields, a perfect reflection of the balance of Michele's day-to-day existence. But the metaphor goes a step further; as if to emphasize the monotony of lower-class life, Salvatores' fields aren't lush rolling expanses of green. Instead, cinematographer Italo Petriccione keeps a very limited color palette, with fields that resemble the dirt and sand surrounding Michele's small neighborhood. Within a world of somber discoveries and limited options, young Cristiano delivers an impressive performance as Michele, seemingly confident in the knowledge that the film rests on his slight shoulders. Sometimes, he invites us into his world by quietly reciting short tales, stories that illustrate his expansive imagination and ability to convert moments of tension into childhood comic books. Through these tales, we also learn that Michele may not completely trust his parents -- they're more useful to him as characters. As despicable thugs work their way in and out of the family's house, Michele learns that a small town can hold many secrets, and that his parents are at the center of a big one. Without much fanfare or manipulation, Salvatores creates a sympathetic hero
out of Michele. He reminds us of Leonardo DiCaprio's character in This Boy's Life or Alison Lohman's in White Oleander, kids whose lives are dangerously out of control and out of their own hands. Salvatores and Cristiano develop this feeling with less melodrama than those other films, and without making Michele seem naïve or passive. There are some dangerous moments for our young hero, but there's not much that feels overwhelmingly ominous. This easy flow allows the film a good dose of reality, and lets the conclusion provide a solid wallop. It's an ending that flaunts a core of humanity within a shell of evil and greed. Salvatores' final image is the perfect capper, a visual both harsh and dreamy, very much like the entirety of his film. Aka Io non ho paura. I dunno, I'm a little scared.

The meditation of Seal’s & Sigils By Andrew
First I would like to explain that there is a difference between the 2 & how you go about working with each. The best way to explain it is, that when working w/ seals we are working with a specific entity & one that we will be using for a purpose or an act, where as a sigil we are creating an entity or using it to open a part of the mind to obtain knowledge such as the sigil for Jupiter we would use the sigil to open our minds to the energy & influence there of, where as we would use the planetary seal to invoke the entity of it and therefore command it to do our biding, sigils have many functions & purposes where as seals are pretty much self defined & governed by there stature, such as those found in The Lesser Keys of Solomon, or Angelic seals. I know this sounds very complex, but it actually fairly simple once you understand, seal we do not charge in a since, where as a sigil we create & charge it to bring it into manifestation such as to remind us of a phrase or a name, we see the sigil & it then triggers w/in our mind what it is, where a seal does not it will invoke the entity into manifestation, & may not be what we wont at the time. I will cover more on this in greater depth later dealing with each individually, just wont to
bring this up now before we getting into the meditation of each, so that it is known that they are different. The meditation of seal’s I will be using one that I have tattooed on my chest, from the lesser keys of Solomon. The seal of Astaroth First in this process we look at the seal & then take a fresh sheet of paper & start to draw it out, we continue to do this till we can do it w/out looking at it & do it from memory, then we will take it on step further & make our own seal, by using a consecrated parchment & thus draw it a pawn it, then cut it out & I use lamented to keep it in good & perfect condition, from there comes the meditation part. This may take some anywhere from a few days or weeks to accomplish. I can do it now in one setting but that came with years of practice. So once this is all done now you need to meditate on it, by first finding your asana (meditation posture) whatever is the most comfortable to you, once you are fully relaxed & find the perfect gnosis (trance/state of mind) you proceed by staring at the seal w/out blinking, do this for at least 30mins but do not let the image disappear or go black, you want this to stay as it is unlike other visual meditation where you stare at the image till it goes black & there is no longer an image there. You will repeat this process till you can see the seal’s energy & you will feel that it is already imprinted in your mind, or you will see the entity manifest itself before you, so depending what you are using this one for a circle may be needed till you feel you have complete control over it, & there is respect between you, for general purposes we will say we are using this to open a faculty in our mind, (29.) ASTAROTH. - The Twenty-ninth Spirit is
Astaroth. He is a Mighty, Strong Duke, and appeareth in the Form of an hurtful Angel riding on an Infernal Beast like a Dragon, and carrying in his right hand a Viper. Thou must in no wise let him approach too near unto thee, lest he do thee damage by his Noisome Breath. Wherefore the Magician must hold the Magical Ring near his face, and that will defend him. He giveth true answers of things Past, Present, and to Come, and can discover all Secrets. He will declare wittingly how the Spirits fell, if desired, and the reason of his own fall. He can make men wonderfully knowing in all Liberal Sciences. He ruleth 40 Legions of Spirits. His Seal is this, which wear thou as a Lamen before thee, or else he will not appear nor yet obey thee, etc. We would be opening the faculty that lets us see the answers of past, present, & future & the liberal sciences, anything else I would recommend using a circle till you have established a good connection between you, & always remember that it is SUBJECTED TO YOU, you command it & it most obey. Once this process is complete all you have to do is recall the seal & it will trigger or project it on the subject.
The meditation of sigils
For this process we would either create a sigil or use one that is already known to us such as planetary sigils which I will be using Jupiter for the example here, for there are many ways to create sigils from using alphabets to
automatic drawing & creating an image from that from which we would charge by meditating on it till the image disappeared or by simply drawing it out & on paper & folding it up so it can be seen & taping it into our book of shadows or somewhere & forgetting about till it is time for it to take effect & then we will feel a need to open it & the effect will take place.
We would draw this out on a fresh sheet of consecrated paper & as stated above, except this time we want the image to go black & disappear, we would repeat this process till we can see it w/out the sigil being there, once this is done the sigil is now charged & ready for use, & becomes a magical tool & needs to be treated as such.
Sigil & seals are one of the many ways to unlock the doors within our minds & open up knowledge that will help us grow spiritually, & further our magic, they have many uses feel free to explore them all, you will find it a wonderful addition to your own work & also find it to be relaxing as

EGO & WILL
The concept of the Ego - the psychic structure of self-identifications, beliefs, desires and personifications is recognised as the basis of our psychocosm. A curious misconception has arisen that the Ego is a barrier to magical development - that it is somehow to be taken down or destroyed before one can advance 'spiritually'. To some, it seems that while 'Western development' builds up the ego, 'Eastern approaches' aim at ego-transcendence. There is much discussion of the 'higher self' which appears after the ego has been transcended - this is a common theme in so-called 'New Age' thought. The psyche however, is not a static entity, and this kind of 'ego vs higher self' thinking is a carry-over of the rationalistic mind-body division. Attempts to get rid of the ego can easily result in one-sided development, fostering both self-importance and a 'holier-than-thou' attitude. Avoiding the so-called 'dark' aspect of human desire results in a shallow caricature of human potentiality, a blandness which avoids plumbing the depths of the psyche. Clarity of thought, insight, and struggle are glossed over with a sugar-coating of bliss. To work with one's ego is to begin an inner alchemy, the aim of which is not to 'destroy' or 'transcend' it, but to move from a state of fixation (ego-centric) to a condition of mutability (Exo-centric), which is capable of constant revision and change. This is what is meant by the phrase 'letting go', and of dissolving the idea of mind as separate to the world. The Ego remains as a point of 'I-ness' which gives meaning to experience, yet
the contents of the psyche become much more fluid. In one sense, it is the ego which roots us in space-time - the psychic equivalent of having a sense of place, of occupying a particular set of co-ordinates. The majority of our experience of reality is at the level of objects, bodies and events that appear to be temporally separate. We experience ourselves as centres of will, perception, and ego. In contrast to the ego, the will displays a vector quality, in that it has both direction and magnitude. The will is the wave to the ego's particle. Although we like to think of ourselves as centres of intentionality, much of our behavior is a result of vector resonance - waves rippling through, appearing in our space-time universe as separate events and synchronous experiences. A key to the appropriate magical stance is given by Crowley in his novel, Moonchild: "...the clever man, so-called, the man of talent, shuts out his genius by setting up his conscious will as a positive entity. The true man of genius deliberately subordinates himself, reduces himself to a negative and allows his genius to play through him as it will..." The Thelemic concept of the realisation of the True Will necessitates an unfolding of awareness of the will as a vector quality. Will imposes organization - order out of "the chaos of the normal" (Austin Osman 9 Spare), and the realisation of True Will involves an 'obedience to awareness' of the evolutionary patterns which govern human development. Will is an emergent property of our interaction with the total environment - it cannot be isolated to any one element. Will, perception and
consciousness - we are immersed in them the way a fish is immersed in water. They are emergent properties of the total biosphere of Gaia. So much for theory. How is this alchemy accomplished? The key word is integration - dissolving the mindbody, spirit-matter fragmentation. Enter into a 'being-in-the-now' dance, immersed in the body of Gaia, within the universe. Will on any level is the organising principle kundalini-shakti coiled creates all forms. Therefore: 1. Invoke Often, feeling all magical acts as a passage of Will through you. 2. Attend to the continual reconstruction of your psychocosm through the examination of beliefs, desires and attitudes. 3. Seek union with all that you have rejected. 4. Practice magick as though your very survival depended on it! 5. Forget everything you have been told about the world, assume nothing and develop your own path. 6. Eat more donuts!

Totemic Guided Meditation by Lupa
Posted by Persephone The totemic guided meditation also offers you a relatively “safe” place to visit with totems. One thing I discovered early on in this whole Therioshamanism thing is that unlike proper journeying, which takes you deep into the spirits’ te... (which can be quite dangerous), guided meditation creates a sort of neutral zone that’s more mediated and less likely to present any dangers. However, it still allows for free-form exploration and communication, assuming it’s not such a rigidly structured thing that even the dialogue is scripted! And while most totemic guided meditations are supposed to only have you
meet your totem, I have found that the same meditation, slightly tweaked, is also quite effective for continuing to use the “neutral zone” to meet with the totem for ongoing work together. It’s simply a matter of going into the meditation with the intent of talking to a specific totem, instead of leaving yourself open to meet any totem, if that makes sense. So let’s look at the different parts of the basic structure of the totem guided meditation: The Entrance: This is usually a hole of some sort, either in the ground or a tree, but I have also had people that I led through the meditation travel through a hole in the clouds, or in ice or other water; these were their creations, not my suggestions, as I don’t specify exactly what the entrance should look like. The entrance is the starting point, the threshold between this world and the next. Once you’ve taken that first step in, you’re on your way. The Tunnel: Traveling through the tunnel is a transition; it allows both the mind and the spirit to make the changes from the waking world to the neutral zone the person is going to visit. The tunnel may be in the ground, through trees, water, etc. It may look the same the whole way through, although the interior has also been known to shift in appearance and even size the further one gets from the waking world. The tunnel is a necessary component in the meditation, because it allows for a gradual and smooth adjustment in consciousness and spiritual state, rather than a sudden, jarring shift. For someone brand new to guided meditation, just spending time traveling down the tunnel, turning around, and then coming back can be good practice in maintaining a basic meditative focus, without the additional pressures of being in a complex new environment. The tunnel is relatively simple, and generally only goes two ways, so it’s easy to come back home as needed. The Neutral Zone: This is an open arena where the person can explore the environment and see
what totems may present themselves in first time through, as well as a known location for continued work. It is nonphysical in form, but it is a midway point between the person’s psyche, and the external spiritual world (though the boundaries between the two are often very blurred). While Harner has people stay in the tunnel, or rather, the tunnel becomes the neutral zone, I like to have people come out into an open environment where they can meet their totems. Again, as with the entrance, I allow people to picture it for themselves, rather than suggesting a specific place. This is because I don’t want them to have expectations of what animals they should or shouldn’t meet; for example, if I tell them to come out in a Pacific Northwest rain forest, but their totem is Koala, then they’re less likely to make the necessary connection. I also suggest that people explore while they’re there so that they can find the place again later. Additionally, since it is a mediated setting, people do have more control over what happens there; for example, I tell people I’m leading in meditation that if they ever lose the tunnel and need to go back quickly, all they have to do is look down at the ground at their feet and the mouth of the tunnel will appear there, and they can go right back home. Finally, it’s important to note any changes made to the neutral zone, whether within a given meditation, or over time. They may reflect changes in the totemic relationship, or even the location of the place in relation to the spiritual world (for example, if the neutral zone starts slipping deeper into spiritual territory, it may take on a wilder, more chaotic nature). The Animal Totems: In the deconstructed guided meditation, the totem is the goal, the manifestation of the intent. Finding your totem often implies success, though I wouldn’t interpret things that strictly, personally–there’s a lot that can go wrong even if you find your totem, and a lot that go right even if you don’t. I’ve elaborated almost ad infinitum elsewhere about what your totem can be, but it basically boils down to: pretty much any animal species has a totem, you’re not limited to a certain set number of totems, the number of totems you have throughout your life can change, not every totem is permanent, and
yes, I consider extinct, domestic, and mythological animals to still have totems, albeit totems with a much different perspective on the world we live in. A totem is an intermediary between its species and the rest of reality, to include human beings, though contrary to some approaches to totemism, we are not necessarily the center of a totem’s purpose for existing! (In other words, totemism isn’t just about “Get a totem to make your life AWESOMER!”) What role the totem plays in a person’s life varies from individual to individual; some see them as primarily symbolic, while others spend their lives working totemism as a daily spiritual practice. Again, this meditation can be used to either find a totem for the first time, or continue meeting with it. Just start each meditation with the appropriate intent, even perhaps saying something like “I am going to travel to meet my totem for the first time,” or “I am going to go meet with [name of totem]” before going through the entrance. The Tunnel Back: The trip back to the waking world is just as important as the trip down the tunnel in the first place. It allows the person to integrate their experiences during the meditation, as well as readjust to being “awake” again. Most people tend to come out of the meditation too quickly, and spend their time grounding in this world with food and other physical things. While this is not bad, I feel it speaks of impatience, and doesn’t take full advantage of this important transitional stage of the totemic guided meditation. I recommend that if you do this sort of meditation, try to spend as much time coming back through the tunnel as you did heading down it. Troubleshooting: If you’re new to meditation, or if you aren’t a very visual person, you may have trouble staying “in” the meditation long enough to find your totem. If that’s the case, try (as I mentioned above) just exploring the tunnel for a while, then graduate to just exploring the neutral zone a few times without the intent of looking for a totem. Stay in as long as you can before you feel you
can’t focus any more, though do try to give yourself time to travel back through the tunnel and make a smooth transition back to being awake. If you’re doing a meditation to find a totem for the first time, and no totem shows up, or isn’t clearly your totem, give yourself a break for a couple weeks at least, then try again. If you are unsure of whether an animal is a totem, and you can get close enough to talk to it, you can always try asking whether it’s your totem or not. Also, while most people only encounter one totem at a time, it’s not at all unheard of to meet more than one in one meditation, and in fact there are some meditation structures, such as The Personal Totem Pole Process, that are created around meeting and working with multiple totems at once. If you end up with a totem you’re not comfortable with, don’t fear the worst. Sometimes it’s the animals that scare us that can really teach us; same thing goes for the ones we think are gross, or not particularly flashy. Conversely, if you get one of the “popular” totems like Grey Wolf or Tiger, don’t assume that you’re just being egotistical. Let things play out as they will no matter what totem shows up; in the end, you’re the one who gets to determine whether an experience was valid for you, not some internet peanut gallery. http://therioshamanism.com/category/altered-states-of-consciousness/
No sexy outfits nuns told in 1,300-year-old 'rule' book
Nuns in Essex were warned to avoid garments that would “nourish the fires of sexual anticipation” in a 1,300-year-old book of advice now up for auction.
They were held up as paragons of virtue, but one congregation of Essex nuns appear to have needed some pointers on how to conduct themselves. In a book of advice for the cloistered women written more than 1,300 years ago, they were reminded of the benefits of virginity, warned of the sin of pride, and cautioned against wearing garments which “set off” the body. The guidance came from the Anglo-Saxon cleric Aldhelm in a text dedicated to the abbess nuns of Barking Abbey, the oldest surviving version of which is now up for sale. In the work, De Laude Virginitatis [In Praise of Virginity], the author tells the
nuns that abstinence from sex is not enough - their “stainlessness of bodily virginity” must be accompanied by a “chastity of the spirit” if they are to avoid the “untamed impulses of bodily wantonness”. Addressing the issue of clothing, he writes: “If you dress yourself sumptuously and go out in public so as to attract notice, if you rivet the eyes of young men to you and draw the sighs of adolescents after you, and nourish the fires of sexual anticipation ... you cannot be excused as if you were of a chaste and modest mind.” Warning that both nuns and clergymen are dressing inappropriately, he adds: “It shames me to speak of the bold impudence of conceit and the fine insolence of stupidity which are found both among nuns who abide under the rule of a settlement, and among the men of the Church … With many-colored vestments and with elegant adornments, the body is set off and the external form decked out limb by limb.” As well as lifestyle advice, Aldhelm - an energetic evangelist and early supporter of women’s education - includes biographies of female saints famed for their virginity who he holds up as role models, including Scholastica, the patron saint of nuns and twin sister of St Benedict; Christina, tortured to death for her faith by her pagan father; and Dorothy, executed for her Christianity after turning down a marriage proposal. Written in Latin in the seventh century, the book is the first known text from England to be aimed at a female readership. At the time, Barking was a country village outside London and its abbey, founded in 666AD, was home to generations of nuns for more than 800 years. Whilst Aldhelm had no ecclesiastical authority over the abbey, his advice would have been heeded because he was a noted scholar of his day, of royal blood, who founded two monasteries and served as an abbot and a bishop. The four pages up for auction at Sotheby’s next month are inscribed on vellum - high quality parchment made from sheep skin or calf hide – from a copy of the book produced in around 800AD, and believed to have been owned at one stage by St Dunstan, a tenth-century Archbishop of Canterbury. They are expected to fetch £500,000.
Timothy Bolton, a specialist in western medieval manuscripts at Sotheby’s, said: “Aldhelm’s work is remarkable because there simply aren’t any texts by English authors addressed to women before this. "He expects the nuns to study and understand his sophisticated writings, raising the bar of education for women to the same level of men, becoming the first English feminist author.” The extract forms part of an auction of 60 rare manuscripts, spanning more than five millennia, that are expected to fetch more than £2 million in total. They include fragments of Homer’s The Iliad dating to the year of Christ’s birth which were used by the Egyptians to wrap around a mummy; a document belonging to the father of King Harold, the last Anglo Saxon king; and the earliest surviving text of one of the most important passages from the New Testament, St Paul’s Epistle to the Romans. They will be sold by Martin Schoyen, a Norwegian collector and heir to a shipping and transport business. Dr Christopher de Hamel, the fellow librarian of Corpus Christi College, Cambridge and an expert on ancient manuscripts, said: “This sale is exceptional in telling the story of Western script from classical antiquity to the Middle Ages. It contains the bare bone relics of the history of the English language.” The sale includes The Godwine Charter, drawn up for Earl Godwine, the most powerful English lord in the decades before the Norman Conquest and the father of King Harold, who was defeated and killed at the Battle of Hastings in 1066. Dated c. 1013 to 1020 and written on vellum in Anglo Saxon, the document details Earl Godwine’s sale of a swine pasture, believed to be in Kent, to one of his tenants, Leofwine the Red, for “forty pence and two pounds and an allowance of eight ambers of corn”. Expected to fetch up to £250,000 at auction, it is one of the rarest surviving Anglo Saxon texts from before the Norman Conquest, after which Old English, replaced by Latin and French, ceased to be the language of officialdom.
The sale will also include the Wyman Fragment, the earliest surviving version of an excerpt from St Paul’s Epistle to the Romans, widely acknowledged as one of the most famous documents in the history of Christianity. Dating from the late third century when Christianity was still an illegal cult in the Roman empire, the vellum fragment written in Greek comprises Romans 4:23-5:3 on one side, and on the other, Romans 5:8-13, including the crucial passage on the justification by faith which forms the core of the Epistle and of the theology of Christianity: “Therefore, since we are justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.” For this passage of the Epistle, the Wyman Fragment is universally accepted as the earliest surviving version and is expected to fetch up to £200,000 at auction. The fragment was reportedly found in the early 20th century by a group of Arabs at Fustât, in north-eastern Cairo, Egypt, near the site of the Roman fortress of Babylon. Mr Schoyen acquired it in 1988 from the heirs of the American anthropologist, Dr Leland Wyman, who bought it from an antiquities dealer in Cairo in 1950. Fragments from Homer’s The Iliad dating from the year of Christ's birth will also feature in the sale. Experts believe the papyrus fragments were once part of a scroll once used by the ancient Egyptians to wrap around a mummy, which survived in the sands of North Africa. They were first acquired by the Austrian conservator, Dr Anton Fackelmann, in Cairo in 1969 as part of a mummy cartonage. Mr Schoyen acquired them from his heirs in 1998 and they are estimated to fetch £30,000 at auction. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/history/9335865/No-sexy-outfits-nuns-tol...

Pantheism is the view that the Universe (or Nature) and God (or divinity) are identical. Pantheists thus do not believe in a personal, or anthropomorphic god. The word derives from the Greek (pan) meaning "all" and the Greek (theos) meaning "God". As such, pantheism denotes the idea that "God" is best seen as a process of relating to the Universe. The central ideas found in almost all pantheistic beliefs are the view of the Cosmos as an all-encompassing unity, reverence for the Cosmos, and recognition of the sacredness of the Universe and Nature. Sometimes it is easier to define something by what it is not rather than what it is. So, in that spirit, I thought that it might be a useful exercise to take this
approach to Pantheism; it might get rid of some of the popular misconceptions too?! Pantheism is not: a religion practiced by big blue aliens on the planet Pandora. http://pathsofpaganunderworld.com/group/pantheism

Top seven vegan sources of protein
Posted by OneCrow·Admin
Posted by: True Activist (NaturalNews) Like most people who have a higher health conscious, most vegans and vegetarians have a story about how they came to the decision to live their particular lifestyle. No matter your reasons, one of the challenges for non-meat eaters is making sure
they get enough protein every day. But its not as big a deal as many think. Like most of the nutrients from quality food, a little goes a long way. Back in the hunter/gatherer days, primitive man ate a lot less meat – usually around 20% of his total diet – a far cry from how much the average American consumes daily in the 21st century. Protein is an essential nutrient that plays a key role in how our bodies function. But too much protein is associated with several diseases. It is more important to eat a varied diet than to isolate and focus on any one nutrient. As long as calorie intake is adequate, it can be easy for vegan diets to meet protein recommendations (http://www.vrg.org/nutrition/protein.htm). RDA recommendations for protein are from .36 – .45 grams of protein per pound of body weight, or about 15-20% of calories. That’s roughly 48-60 grams/day. Top sources of vegan protein It’s a great time to be a vegan. As the numbers of vegans grows, the demand for vegan products increases. There are lots of nutrient dense foods with a decent protein content. Even meat eaters ought to vary their protein sources, and try some of these: 1. Vegetables - the proper foundation for all diets. • 1 avocado – 10 grams • 1 cup broccoli – 5 grams • 1 cup spinach – 5 grams • 2 cups cooked kale – 5 grams • 1 cup boiled peas – 9 grams • 1 cup cooked sweet potato – 5 grams 2. Legumes, also vegetables, get their own mention. Specifically lentils and beans, the foundation of many diets for centuries. • 1 cup soybeans – 28 grams (1 cup tofu – 22 grams, 1 cup tempeh – 30 grams) • 1 cup lentils – 18 grams • 1 cup refried beans – 15.5 grams • 1 cup garbanzo beans (and hummus) – 14.5 grams • 1 cup pinto, kidney, black beans – 13-15 grams
• 1 oz peanuts – 6.5 grams 3. Nuts and seeds - a staple in most vegetarian and vegan diets. • 1 oz. cashews – 4.4 grams • 1 oz. sesame seeds 6.5 grams, 3 tablespoons of tahini – 8 grams • 1/4 cup (2 oz.) walnuts – 5 grams • 1 oz. pistachios – 5.8 grams • 2 tbsp almonds – 4 grams • Nut butters – peanut butter, almond butter, cashew butter – 2 tablespoons has about 8 grams of protein 4. Non-dairy milk - Soy, almond, ancient grain. 1 cup gets you 7-9 grams of protein. 5. Grains - Ancient grains, sprouted grains, multi-grains – a major part of the diet. • Quinoa is versatile and delicious. 1 cup – 9 grams. • Amaranth, bulgur, brown rice, wheat germ, oat bran are other grains with a high protein content. • Seitan, or flavored wheat gluten, has about 52 grams per cup, but it may not be a good idea to eat a lot of it. • Oatmeal – 1 cup = 6 grams. • Sprouted grain bread products – buns, tortillas, bread. Pack a sandwich or a wrap and you’ll get 7-10 grams from the bread alone. 6. Convenience foods: There are vegan protein powders and bars to fill in the gaps on the go. Hemp – 30 grams of hemp powder in your smoothie gives you 11 grams of protein. 7. Supplements - spirulina and chlorella are used often by vegetarians and vegans for their rich nutrient content, and protein content. There are lots of cookbooks and websites with meal plans and inventive recipes, including many on how to make traditional dishes substituted with vegan ingredients. Other topics often discussed regarding vegan diets include whether or not vegans need more iron or iodine. Requirements can be met without animal sources, but it is good to be mindful of it.
Whether its a long term lifestyle or a diet for cleansing, eating vegan can be enjoyable and rewarding. As with any diet, it is possible to be an unhealthy vegan. The best diets, vegan and otherwise, center around raw, fresh, organic vegetables. Many vegan’s stories begin with disease. They tried vegan to get better, and liked it so much it stuck. Candle Scrying Ceroscopy is form of scrying using wax. The wax was melted into a brass vessel till it became a liquid of uniform consistence. The liquid wax was then poured very slowly into another vessel filled with cold water. The pouring was done in a way that the wax congealed in tiny discs upon the surface of the
water. The divinator then interpreted the figures of wax. Scrying by reading wax images also goes to candle scrying where you read the dripping of a candle that has developed over the side of the candle on the candle stick holder. From personal experience, I have noted that drippings are influenced by the color of the candle and the energies of the person scrying. I have seen interesting patterns formed, everything from angels to faces and more. They can be regarded as messages either from spirit or from the subconscious mind of the scryer. Fire and Candle Gazing. This type of Scrying is actually fun and does not need the sanctity of your Temple. You can use these methods wherever there is a fire or candle about. I find it enjoyable to Scry when a friend lights a candle; they often times don't realize that I am scrying at all, good fun that. For fire gazing, it is the embers near the end of a fire that you want to focus on. The colors of the embers often times swirl with meaning if you are open to them. Clear and focus your Mind on nothing in particular, just keep it open to the symbols as they pass through the coals. Empty all thoughts and gaze upon the flames and be open to psychic messages that transpire. If you so desire, choose an appropriate color to go along with the subject of the reading as found in tables of Magickal correspondence. The procedure is the same as with all reflecting objects, clear your Mind of all thoughts, listen and see with your innerself. Awaken the receptive power and open this world to the next. Visions will come when you are receptive to them. Let them speak. I also suggest that you get a reputable book on Dreaming. The symbols described therein can be used as a basic guide for the symbols that you see within the flame or embers. This naturally leads us to... SMOKE SCRYING Smoke scrying is a technique that can be quite useful and can be added to
your Samhain celebrations. Before I discuss this technique, I feel it necessary to describe a scrying mirror or black mirror. This object is a mirror that has had the glass removed and painted black and replaced back into the holder. Often a silver backing is added to the mirror and a round or oval mirror is used; however, I have found that an inexpensive compact mirror with the glass painted black can work just as well. Black mirrors can be traced back over the centuries and were often made of obsidian. You do not want to look directly into the mirror for your scrying, lay it on a table and look from an angle. Spirits can show scenes, images, speak and even touch the scryer with this method. Now, back to smoke scrying. Lower the lights in the room, or better yet light two pillar candles on either side of you. Taking your favorite candle, light and then snuff out allow it to smoke for a few moments. Position the black mirror so that the smoke dances over the surface easily while the mirror lies on a table. Once the candle has smoked for a few moments, close your eyes to relax. When you feel centered, grounded and relaxed look into the black mirror lying on your table from various angles. Watch and interpret the images you see, hear, smell and feel. As I said, you can use this technique on Samhain to help summon the ancient spirits or ancestors. I use red candles for this purpose. Once I’m feeling centered I hold my arms into the air and say something like, “O Great Spirit, Great Maiden, Mother, Wise One, you who created all. Bring to us the old ones, the ancient spirits, and the ancestors to celebrate with us, to teach us, to allow us to understand where we came from so we can understand where we are yet to lead the future”. Do fire scrying (staring into the fire or a candle fire) when the moon is either in Aries, Sagittarius or Leo How to take care of candles Not many people know how to properly burn a candle, and I have seen many,
many people throw away mostly unburned pillar candles due to ignorance... but no more! I compiled this from the labels on candles around my house. Tea Lights: * In aluminum cups - recommended for "closed-type" holders (eg. Tealight house potpourri burners). * In transparent cups - recommended for glass holders. Votive Candles: * Always keep wicks trimmed to 1/4". * The metal clip is designed to extinguish the flame when the wick has burned out. * Always remove the metal clip from a previous votive before placing a new votive in the holder. * While burning votives, be sure the wick is centered. * Wicks too close to the side of a votive holder may cause breakage. Dinner Candles: * Always keep wick trimmed to 1/4" * Do not place near drafts, fans or air conditioners. * If dripping occurs, wait for wax to harden and remove excess. * Burning time: approximately 45 minutes per inch. Pillar Candles: * Keep wick centered and trimmed to 1/4" * First lighting: burn for 5 - 10 minutes. * For the next 4 - 5 lightings gradually increase burning times until the belltop is gone. * Once the candle has a flat surface, burn a minimum of 1 hour per inch for each inch of the candle's diameter.
* Pillars should always have a flat surface, not a deep well. * Gently "hug" the soft wax around the well to maintain a flat surface. 3 Wick Candles: * NEVER trim the wicks. * Burn a minimum of 6 hours at each lighting. * Keep wicks pointed towards centre. Gently hug the soft wax around the well to maintain a flat surface.

The 5 Creepiest Urban Legends (That Happen to be True)
7 The best creepy campfire stories are always the ones that end with the words, "...And it’s all true, because I have the damned documentation here to prove
it!" In that spirit, we've tracked down five of the creepiest tales and urban legends that really happened to real people, proving once and for all that nothing is more terrifying than everyday life. The Dead Body Under Your Freaking Mattress The Legend: A couple checks into a hotel and have to put up with a foul odor in their room all night. They call the staff to complain and somebody figures out the stench is coming from the bed. Now, there's no way that scenario is going to have a good ending. You're almost hoping at that point that it'll turn out the last guest just got drunk and pooped behind the headboard. But, no, the staff take off the mattress and discover the couple has been sleeping over the rotting body of a dead girl who had been stuffed in the box spring. The Truth: This actually happened, in Las Vegas. Also, Kansas City, MO and Atlantic City, NJ and several times in Florida and California and, well, let's just say that in or under the bed in a hotel room seems to be a fairly popular destination for the recently deceased. It makes sense if you think about it. The closet and under the bed are the two most popular places to hide just about anything, so it's not surprising a hell of a lot of corpses end up there as well. In fact, the odds are pretty good that at least once a guy has killed a prostitute, tried to stuff her under the bed, only to find there was already a body there.
The strangest part isn't that the bodies wind up in such a terrible hiding place (killers often aren't the type to plan ahead). No, the strange thing is that in almost every story people will sleep part of, or in many cases, the entire night, on top of the corpse before reporting it. Most people we know will complain if they detect that someone might have smoked a cigarette in their room four months ago. Not these people, they slept inches above an oozing heap of rotting human flesh rather than inconvenience the hotel management by asking for a new room. Or, at least we hope sleeping is all they did on that bed. Oh, man, can you imagine dying and then the first thing that happens is some middle age couple starts porking over you? Ew. Hopefully they at least got a free continental breakfast out of the ordeal. The Funhouse Mummy
A prop at a carnival was discovered not to be made of the usual combination of papier mache and carni spit, but human skin and bone. All the little kiddies at the haunted house had been poking and giggling at a real, mummified dead body. The Truth: Apparently the smell wasn’t just coming from the convict manning the corndog stand. Back in 1976, a camera crew filming an episode of The Six Million Dollar Man began to set up in the haunted house at the Nu-Pike Amusement Park in Long Beach, Calif.
As they were moving aside a "hanging man" prop, they accidentally knocked off its arm and discovered human bones inside. Bionic, this poor sap wasn’t. The story gets stranger. The body was actually that of criminal mastermind Elmer McCurdy, who was killed in a shootout after robbing a train in 1911. The princely sum old Elmer got killed for? $46 (and two jugs of whiskey). McCurdy was embalmed by the local undertaker, and apparently the guy was so darn pleased with his work that he propped up the corpse in the funeral home as evidence of his skills. People were charged 5 cents to see the corpse, which they paid by dropping a nickel in the cadaver’s mouth. Remember that little bit of history the next time somebody turns their nose up at you for liking Hostel 2. Think it can’t get any stranger? Oh, you naïve fool. After several years of raking in the nickels (how exactly these coins were retrieved after being dropped into the corpse’s mouth is something probably best left to the imagination) our enterprising undertaker’s scheme was ruined when McCurdy's brothers showed up to claim him. Of course, these guys weren’t
his brothers at all, but wily carnival promoters. From that point on, McCurdy’s mummy went on a morbid mystery tour all around America, popping up at carnivals all over the country before finally coming to rest in Long Beach. McCurdy is now buried in Oklahoma. Because McCurdy apparently had the most entertaining corpse in history, they prevented anyone else from taking him on tour by dumping concrete on top of the casket. No, really.
The Curiously Realistic Decoration
The Legend: What was thought to be your typically charming Halloween decoration
depicting a lynched woman hanging from a tree, turns out to be a genuine suicide. The Truth: In the town of Frederica, Delaware, a 42-year-old woman, perhaps distraught by the fact that she lived in Delaware, hung herself from a tree near a busy road on a Tuesday night. The body managed to hang there until the next day and was viewed by many unwitting (or perhaps retarded) spectators before somebody realized it wasn't a decoration and finally called the police. Once again it's the lack of complaints from passers-by that amaze us. Even if the hanging thing wasn't a body, it was something that looked exactly like one and would be considered an extremely distasteful Halloween decoration (unless she put on a wacky witch's costume before doing the deed). With the political correctness these days, you'd have expected two special city council meetings and 30 letters to the editor within the first ten minutes of someone seeing it.
We can't help but wonder, if the person who eventually called the police hadn't bothered, how much longer would the body have hung there? This happened five days before Halloween. Add five days of decomposition to the equation and suddenly you have something a whole lot more terrifying. Also, did the woman plan this? She knew what time of year it was, and intentionally hung herself in a public place. Did she want her corpse to blend in with the bed sheet ghosts and stuffed witches around the neighborhood? If so, it sounds like she may have been a fascinating person.
A Halloween Stunt Goes Wrong in the Least Surprising Way Possible
The Legend: A teenager manages to provide the Halloween show he’s in with the ultimate finale when, while pretending to hang himself in front of the audience, he
actually hangs himself. The Truth: While the fine citizens of Frederica we discussed were perhaps a bit slow on the uptake, the people involved in this hanging-related legend are on the dipshit honor roll. Mainly because it's happened more than once. Yes, people have repeatedly tried to pull off an imitation hanging for a Halloween show, forgot to include the "imitation" part and went ahead and accidentally killed themselves. Yes, they were pretty much all teenage males. In one instance, an entire working gallows was built for a show, with the "victim" secured by a harness so that he’d stop just short of actually being hung (take a wild guess how that turned out). Now we’re just thinking aloud here, but if we were standing on a gallows, fake or not, with a rope around our necks, we’d want to take a few precautions. For example, and again just blue-skying, maybe don’t use a real rope that is tied into a real noose that is wrapped around your real neck in a way that could really kill you. Perhaps the saddest thing about the story was how completely unnecessary the whole thing was. Here’s a tip for anyone trying to thrill kids on Halloween in the future: You don’t need to hang yourself. Just give out full-sized chocolate bars instead of those not-so-fun "fun-sized" ones. We can guarantee the tykes will be talking about the house that gave out full-sized Snickers bars long after some life-risking stunt was forgotten.
The Legend: Some poor schmuck is committed to his or her eternal resting place, even though they aren’t quite ready to take that final dirt nap. Scratch marks are later found on the coffin lid along with other desperate signs of escape. The Truth: This not only happened, but back in the day it happened with alarming regularity. In the late 19th century, William Tebb tried to compile all the instances of premature burial from medical sources of the day. He managed to collect 219 cases of near-premature burial, 149 cases of actual premature burial and a dozen cases where dissection or embalming had begun on a not-yet-deceased body. Now, this may seem ridiculous, but keep in mind this was an era before doctors such as the esteemed Dr. Gregory House gained the ability to solve any ailment within 42 minutes. If you went to the doctor with the flu in those days, he’d likely cover you in leeches and prescribe you heroin to suppress your cough. Their only method for determining if a person had died was to lean over their face and scream "WAKE UP" over and over again. If you didn't react, they buried you. The concern over being buried alive back then was so real that the must-have
hot-ticket item for the wealthy and paranoid were "safety coffins" that allowed those inside to signal to the outside world (usually by ringing a bell or raising some type of flag) should they awake 6-feet under. Though, answering that bell sounds like a good way to get ambushed by a zombie if you ask us.
Unfortunately safety coffins aren’t in vogue anymore, so if you’re at the cemetery and hear a muffled voice calling out "OK guys, joke’s over. Let me out!" it might be a good idea to inform someone with a shovel quickly. Of course, that last sentence was merely facetious, there’s no way something like this could still happen today. Uh, well, except for this story about a Venezuelan man waking up during his autopsy. On second thought, you might want to consider adding a line in your will that states you’re to be buried with a gas-powered auger in your casket when you go.

2012 The Phenomenon
2012 phenomenon The 2012 phenomenon comprises a range of eschatological beliefs that cataclysmic or transformative events will occur on December 21, 2012. This date is regarded as the end-date of a 5,125-year-long cycle in the Mesoamerican Long Count calendar. Various astronomical alignments and numerological formulae related to this date have been
proposed. A New Age interpretation of this transition postulates that this date marks the start of time in which Earth and its inhabitants may undergo a positive physical or spiritual transformation, and that 2012 may mark the beginning of a new era. Others suggest that the 2012 date marks the end of the world or a similar catastrophe. Scenarios suggested for the end of the world include the arrival of the next solar maximum, or Earth's collision with a black hole, passing asteroid or a planet called "Nibiru". Scholars from various disciplines have dismissed the idea of such cataclysmic events occurring in 2012. Professional Mayanist scholars state that predictions of impending doom are not found in any of the extant classic Maya accounts, and that the idea that the Long Count calendar "ends" in 2012 misrepresents Maya history and culture. Astronomers and other scientists have rejected the proposed events as pseudoscience, stating that they are contradicted by simple astronomical observations. Mesoamerican Long Count calendar Main article: Mesoamerican Long Count calendar December 2012 marks the conclusion of a b'ak'tun—a time period in the Mesoamerican Long Count calendar which was used in Central America prior to the arrival of Europeans. Though the Long Count was most likely invented by the Olmec, it has become closely associated with the Maya civilization, whose classic period lasted from 250 to 900 AD. The writing system of the classic Maya has been substantially deciphered, meaning that a corpus of their written and inscribed material has survived from before the European conquest. Unlike the 52-year Calendar Round still used today among the Maya, the Long Count was linear rather than cyclical, and kept time roughly in units of 20: 20 days made a uinal, 18 uinals (360 days) made a tun, 20 tuns made a k'atun, and 20 k'atuns (144,000 days or roughly 394 years) made up a b'ak'tun. Thus, the Mayan date of 18.104.22.168.15 represents 8 b'ak'tuns, 3 k'atuns, 2 tuns, 10 uinals and 15 days. Apocalypse
The oldest surviving manuscript of the Popol Vuh, dated to 1701 See also: Fifth World (Native American mythology) There is a strong tradition of "world ages" in Mayan literature, but the record has been distorted, leaving several possibilities open to interpretation. According to the Popol Vuh, a compilation of the creation accounts of the K'iche' Maya of the Colonial-era highlands, we are living in the fourth world. The Popol Vuh describes the gods first creating three failed worlds, followed by a successful fourth world in which humanity was placed. In the Maya Long Count, the previous world ended after 13 b'ak'tuns, or roughly 5,125 years.[a] The Long Count's "zero date"[b] was set at a point in the past marking the end of the third world and the beginning of the current one, which corresponds to 11 August 3114 BC in the proleptic Gregorian calendar.[c] This means that the fourth world will also have reached the end of its 13th b'ak'tun, or Mayan date 22.214.171.124.0, on December 21, 2012.[c] In 1957, Mayanist and astronomer Maud Worcester Makemson wrote that "the completion of a Great Period of 13 b'ak'tuns would have been of the utmost significance to the Maya". In 1966, Michael D. Coe wrote in The Maya that "there is a suggestion ... that Armageddon would overtake the degenerate peoples of the world and all creation on the final day of the 13th
[b'ak'tun]. Thus ... our present universe [would] be annihilated [in December 2012][d] when the Great Cycle of the Long Count reaches completion." Objections Coe's interpretation was repeated by other scholars through the early 1990s. In contrast, later researchers said that, while the end of the 13th b'ak'tun would perhaps be a cause for celebration, it did not mark the end of the calendar. "There is nothing in the Maya or Aztec or ancient Mesoamerican prophecy to suggest that they prophesied a sudden or major change of any sort in 2012," said Mayanist scholar Mark Van Stone. "The notion of a "Great Cycle" coming to an end is completely a modern invention." In 1990, Mayanist scholars Linda Schele and David Freidel argued that the Maya "did not conceive this to be the end of creation, as many have suggested." Susan Milbrath, curator of Latin American Art and Archaeology at the Florida Museum of Natural History, stated that "We have no record or knowledge that [the Maya] would think the world would come to an end" in 2012. "For the ancient Maya, it was a huge celebration to make it to the end of a whole cycle," said Sandra Noble, executive director of the Foundation for the Advancement of Mesoamerican Studies. The 2012 phenomenon, she said, is "a complete fabrication and a chance for a lot of people to cash in." "There will be another cycle," said E. Wyllys Andrews V, director of the Tulane University Middle American Research Institute. "We know the Maya thought there was one before this, and that implies they were comfortable with the idea of another one after this." Prior associations The European association of the Maya with eschatology dates back to the time of Christopher Columbus, who was compiling a work called Libro de las profecias during the voyage in 1502 when he first heard about the "Maia" on Guanaja, an island off the north coast of Honduras. Influenced by the writings of Bishop Pierre d'Ailly, Columbus believed that his discovery of "most distant" lands (and, by extension, the Maya themselves) was prophesied and would bring about the Apocalypse. End-times fears were widespread during the early years of the Spanish Conquest as the result of popular
astrological predictions in Europe of a second Great Flood for the year 1524. In the early 1900s, German scholar Ernst Förstemann interpreted the last page of the Dresden Codex as a representation of the end of the world in a cataclysmic flood. He made reference to “destruction of the world,” “apocalypse,” and “the end of the world”, though he made no reference to the 13th baktun or 2012 and it was not clear that he was referring to a future event. His ideas were repeated by archaeologist Sylvanus Morley, who directly paraphrased Förstemann and added his own embellishments, writing "Finally, on the last page of the manuscript, is depicted the Destruction of the World… Here, indeed, is portrayed with a graphic touch the final all-engulfing cataclysm" in the form of a Great Flood. These comments were later repeated in Morley's book The Ancient Maya, the first edition of which was published in 1946. Mayan references to b'ak'tun 13 It is not certain what significance the classic Maya give to the 13th b'ak'tun. Most classic Maya inscriptions are strictly historical and do not make any prophetic declarations. One item in the Mayan classical corpus, however, does mention the end of the 13th b'ak'tun: Tortuguero Monument 6. Tortuguero The Tortuguero site, which lies in southernmost Tabasco, Mexico, dates from the 7th century AD and consists of a series of inscriptions mostly in honor of the contemporary ruler Bahlam Ajaw. One inscription, known as Tortuguero Monument 6, is the only inscription known to refer to b'ak'tun 13. It has been partially defaced; Sven Gronemeyer and Barbara MacLeod have given this translation: tzuhtzjo:m uy-u:xlaju:n pikchan ajaw It will be completed the 13th u:x uni:wuhto:m il[?]ye'ni/ye:n bolon b'ak'tun. It is 4 Ajaw 3 K'ank'inand it will happen a 'seeing'[?].It is the yokte'ta chak joyaj display of B'olon-Yokte'in a great "investiture".
The Tortuguero monument connects the end of the 13th b'ak'tun with the appearance of Bolon Yokte' K'uh, shown here on the Vase of Seven Gods. Very little is known about the god Bolon Yokte'. According to an article by Mayanists Markus Eberl and Christian Prager in British Anthropological Reports, his name is composed of the elements "nine", 'OK-te' (the meaning of which is unknown), and "god". Confusion in classical period inscriptions suggests that the name was already ancient and unfamiliar to contemporary scribes. He also appears in inscriptions from Palenque, Usumacinta, and La Mar as a god of war, conflict, and the underworld. In one stele he is portrayed with a rope tied around his neck, and in another with an incense bag, together signifying a sacrifice to end a cycle of years. Based on observations of modern Mayan rituals, Gronemeyer and MacLeod claim that the stele refers to a celebration in which a person portraying Bolon Yokte' K'uh was wrapped in ceremonial garments and paraded around the site. They note that the association of Bolon Yokte' K'uh with b'ak'tun 13 appears to be so important on this inscription that it supersedes more typical celebrations, such as "erection of stelae, scattering of incense" and so forth. They furthermore assert that this event was indeed planned for 2012, and not the 7th century. However, Mayanist scholar Stephen Houston
contests this view, arguing that future dates on Mayan inscriptions were simply meant to draw parallels with contemporary events, and that the words on the stela describe a contemporary rather than a future scene. Dates beyond b'ak'tun 13 Mayan inscriptions occasionally mention predicted future events or commemorations that would occur on dates far beyond the completion of the 13th b'ak'tun. Most of these are in the form of "distance dates": Long Count dates given together with an additional number, known as a Distance Number, which when added together make a future date. On the west panel at the Temple of Inscriptions in Palenque, a section of text projects forward to the 80th 52-year Calendar Round from the coronation of the ruler K'inich Janaab' Pakal. Pakal's accession occurred on 126.96.36.199.8, equivalent to 27 July 615 AD in the proleptic Gregorian calendar. The inscription begins with Pakal's birthdate of 188.8.131.52.0 (March 24, 603 AD Gregorian) and then adds the Distance Number 10.11.10.5.8 to it, arriving at a date of October 21, 4772 AD, more than 4,000 years after Pakal's time. Another example is Stele 1 at Coba, which gives a date of 184.108.40.206.220.127.116.11.18.104.22.168.22.214.171.124.126.96.36.199.0.0.0.0, or twenty units above the b'ak'tun, placing it either 4.134105 × 1028 (41 octillion) years in the future, or an equal distance in the past. This date is 3 quintillion times the age of the universe as determined by cosmologists. New Age beliefs Many assertions about the year 2012 form part of a non-codified collection of New Age beliefs about ancient Maya wisdom and spirituality. Archaeoastronomer Anthony Aveni says that while the idea of "balancing the cosmos" was prominent in ancient Maya literature, the 2012 phenomenon does not draw from those traditions. Instead, it is bound up with American concepts such as the New Age movement, millenarianism, and the belief in secret knowledge from distant times and places. Established themes found in 2012 literature include "suspicion towards mainstream Western culture," the idea of spiritual evolution, and the possibility of leading the world into the New Age by individual example or by a group's joined consciousness. The
general intent of this literature is not to warn of impending doom but "to foster counter-cultural sympathies and eventually socio-political and 'spiritual' activism". Aveni, who has studied New Age and SETI communities, describes 2012 narratives as the product of a "disconnected" society: "Unable to find spiritual answers to life's big questions within ourselves, we turn outward to imagined entities that lie far off in space or time—entities that just might be in possession of superior knowledge." Origins In 1975, the ending of b'ak'tun 13 became the subject of speculation by several New Age authors, who asserted it would correspond with a global "transformation of consciousness". In Mexico Mystique: The Coming Sixth Age of Consciousness, Frank Waters tied Coe's original date of December 24, 2011,[d] to astrology and the prophecies of the Hopi, while both José Argüelles (in The Transformative Vision) and Terence McKenna (in The Invisible Landscape) discussed the significance of the year 2012, but not a specific day. It was only in 1983, with the publication of Robert J. Sharer's revised table of date correlations in the 4th edition of Morley's The Ancient Maya,[d] that each became convinced that December 21, 2012, had significant meaning. By 1987, the year in which he organized the Harmonic Convergence event, Arguelles was using the date December 21, 2012 in The Mayan Factor: Path Beyond Technology. He claimed that on August 13, 3113 BC the Earth began a passage through a "galactic synchronization beam" that emanated from the center of our galaxy, that it would pass through this beam during a period of 5200 tuns (Maya cycles of 360-days each), and that this beam would result in "total synchronization" and "galactic entrainment" of individuals "plugged into the Earth's electromagnetic battery" by 188.8.131.52.0 (December 21, 2012). He believed that the Maya aligned their calendar to correspond to this phenomenon. Anthony Aveni has dismissed all of these ideas. Galactic alignment There is no significant astronomical event tied to the Long Count's start
date. However, its supposed end date has been tied to astronomical phenomena by esoteric, fringe, and New Age literature that places great significance on astrology. Chief among these is the concept of the "galactic alignment." Precession In the Solar System, the planets and the Sun lie roughly within the same flat plane, known as the plane of the ecliptic. From our perspective on Earth, the ecliptic is the path taken by the Sun across the sky over the course of the year. The twelve constellations that line the ecliptic are known as the zodiac and, annually, the Sun passes through all of them in turn. Additionally, over time, the Sun's annual cycle appears to recede very slowly backward by one degree every 72 years, or by one constellation every 2,160 years. This backward movement, called "precession", is due to a slight wobble in the Earth's axis as it spins, and can be compared to the way a spinning top wobbles as it slows down. Over the course of 25,800 years, a period often called a Great Year, the Sun completes a full, 360-degree backward circuit through the zodiac. In Western astrological traditions, precession is measured from the northern hemisphere's spring equinox, or the point at which the Sun is exactly halfway between its lowest and highest points in the sky. Presently, the Sun's spring equinox position is in the constellation Pisces and is moving back into Aquarius. This signals the end of one astrological age (the Age of Pisces) and the beginning of another (the Age of Aquarius). Similarly, the Sun's winter solstice position, its lowest point, is currently in the constellation of Sagittarius, one of two constellations in which the zodiac intersects with the Milky Way. Every year, on the winter solstice, the Sun and the Milky Way, from the surface of the Earth, appear to come into alignment, and every year, precession causes a slight shift in the Sun's position in the Milky Way. Given that the Milky Way is between 10° and 20° wide, it takes between 700 and 1400 years for the Sun's winter solstice position to precess through it. It is currently about halfway through the Milky Way, crossing the galactic equator.
The Milky Way near Cygnus showing the lane of the Dark Rift, which the Maya called the Xibalba be or "Black Road" Mystical speculations about the precession of the equinoxes and the Sun's proximity to the center of the Milky Way appeared in Hamlet's Mill (1969) by Giorgio de Santillana and Hertha von Deschend. These were quoted and expanded upon by McKennas in The Invisible Landscape (1975). The significance of a future "galactic alignment" was noted in 1991 by astrologer Raymond Mardyks, who asserted that the winter solstice would align with the galactic plane in 1998/1999, writing that an event that "only occurs once each 26,000 year cycle and would be most definitely of utmost significance to the top flight ancient astrologers." Astrologer Bruce Scofield notes, "The Milky Way crossing of the winter solstice is something that has been neglected by Western astrologers, with a few exceptions. Charles Jayne made a very early reference to it, and in the 1970s Rob Hand mentioned it in his talks on precession but didn't elaborate on it. Ray Mardyks later made a point of it, and after that John [Major] Jenkins, myself, and Daniel Giamario began to talk about it." Adherents to the idea, following a theory first proposed by Munro Edmonson, allege that the Maya based their calendar on observations of the Great Rift or Dark Rift, a band of dark dust clouds in the Milky Way, which, according to some scholars, the Maya called the Xibalba be or "Black
Road." John Major Jenkins claims that the Maya were aware of where the ecliptic intersected the Black Road and gave this position in the sky a special significance in their cosmology. According to Jenkins, precession will align the Sun precisely with the galactic equator at the 2012 winter solstice. Jenkins claimed that the classical Maya anticipated this conjunction and celebrated it as the harbinger of a profound spiritual transition for mankind. New Age proponents of the galactic alignment hypothesis argue that, just as astrology uses the positions of stars and planets to make claims of future events, the Mayans plotted their calendars with the objective of preparing for significant world events. Jenkins attributes the insights of ancient Maya shamans about the galactic center to their use of psilocybin mushrooms, psychoactive toads, and other psychedelics. Jenkins also associates the Xibalba be with a "world tree", drawing on studies of contemporary (not ancient) Maya cosmology. Criticism Astronomers such as David Morrison argue that the galactic equator is an entirely arbitrary line, and can never be precisely drawn because it is impossible to determine the Milky Way's exact boundaries, which vary depending on clarity of view. Jenkins claims he drew his conclusions about the location of the galactic equator from observations taken at above 11,000 feet (3,400 m), an altitude that gives a clearer image of the Milky Way than Mayans had access to. Furthermore, since the Sun is half a degree wide, it requires 36 years for it to precess across any single point. Jenkins himself notes that even given this determined location for the line of the galactic equator, its most precise convergence with the center of the Sun already occurred in 1998, and so asserts that, rather than 2012, the galactic alignment instead focuses on a multi-year period centred on 1998. There is no clear evidence that the classic Maya were aware of precession. Some Maya scholars, such as Barbara MacLeod, Michael Grofe, Eva Hunt, Gordon Brotherston, and Anthony Aveni, have suggested that
some Mayan holy dates were timed to precessional cycles, but scholarly opinion on the subject remains divided. There is also little evidence, archaeological or historical, that the Maya placed any importance on solstices or equinoxes. It is possible that only the early Mesoamericans observed solstices, but this is also a disputed issue among Mayanists. There is also no evidence that the classic Maya attached any importance to the Milky Way; there is no glyph in their writing system to represent it, and no astronomical or chronological table tied to it. Timewave zero and the I Ching
A screenshot of the "Timewave Zero" software "Timewave zero" is a numerological formula that purports to calculate the ebb and flow of "novelty", defined as increase over time in the universe's interconnectedness, or organized complexity. According to Terence McKenna, the universe has a teleological attractor at the end of time that increases interconnectedness, eventually reaching a singularity of infinite complexity in 2012, at which point anything and everything imaginable will occur simultaneously. He conceived this idea over several years in the early to mid-1970s while using psilocybin mushrooms and DMT. McKenna expressed "novelty" in a computer program which purportedly produces a waveform known as "timewave zero" or the "timewave". Based on McKenna's interpretation of the King Wen sequence of the I Ching, the graph appears to show great periods of novelty corresponding with major shifts in humanity's biological and sociocultural evolution. He believed that the events of any given time are recursively related to the events of other
times, and chose the atomic bombing of Hiroshima as the basis for calculating his end date of November 2012. When he later discovered this date's proximity to the end of the 13th b'ak'tun of the Maya calendar, he revised his hypothesis so that the two dates matched. The first edition of The Invisible Landscape refers to 2012 (but no specific day during the year) only twice. In the 1993 second edition, McKenna employed Sharer's date[d] of December 21, 2012 throughout. Other concepts
Pic de Bugarach, Camps-sur-l'Agly, France; a target of "esoterics" who believe that some great transition will occur in 2012 In India, the guru Kalki Bhagavan has promoted 2012 as a "deadline" for human enlightenment since at least 1998. Over 15 million people consider Bhagavan to be the incarnation of the god Vishnu and believe that 2012 marks the end of the Kali Yuga, or degenerate age. In 2006, author Daniel Pinchbeck popularized New Age concepts about this date in his book 2012: The Return of Quetzalcoatl, linking b'ak'tun 13 to beliefs in crop circles, alien abduction, and personal revelations based on the use of entheogens and mediumship. Pinchbeck claims to discern a "growing realization that materialism and the rational, empirical worldview that comes with it has reached its expiration date ... [w]e're on the verge of transitioning to a dispensation of consciousness that's more intuitive, mystical and shamanic." Beginning in 2000, the small French village of Bugarach, population 189, began receiving visits from "esoterics"—mystic believers who have concluded that the local mountain, Pic de Bugarach, is the ideal location to weather the
transformative events of 2012. In 2011, the local mayor, Jean-Pierre Delord, began voicing fears to the international press that the small town would be overwhelmed by an influx of thousands of visitors in 2012, even suggesting he may call in the army. Doomsday theories
Sagittarius A*, taken by the Chandra X-Ray Observatory A far more apocalyptic view of the year 2012 that has spread in various media describes the end of the world or of human civilization on that date. This view has been promulgated by many hoax pages on the Internet, particularly on YouTube. The History Channel has aired a handful of special series on doomsday that include analysis of 2012 theories, such as Decoding the Past (2005–2007), 2012, End of Days (2006), Last Days on Earth (2006), Seven Signs of the Apocalypse (2007), and Nostradamus 2012 (2008). In his book 2012: It's Not the End of the World Peter Lemesurier has listed many misleading statements in these films. The Discovery Channel also aired 2012 Apocalypse in 2009, suggesting that massive solar storms, magnetic pole reversal, earthquakes, supervolcanoes, and other drastic natural events may occur in 2012. Author Graham Hancock, in his book Fingerprints of the Gods, interpreted Coe's remarks in Breaking the Maya Code as evidence for the prophecy of a global cataclysm. Other alignments Some people have interpreted the galactic alignment apocalyptically, claiming
that when it occurs, it will somehow create a combined gravitational effect between the Sun and the supermassive black hole at the center of our galaxy (known as Sagittarius A*), thus creating havoc on Earth. Apart from the fact noted above that the "galactic alignment" already happened in 1998, the Sun's apparent path through the zodiac as seen from Earth does not take it near the true galactic center, but rather several degrees above it. Even if this were not the case, Sagittarius A* is 30,000 light years from Earth, and would have to be more than 6 million times closer to cause any gravitational disruption to Earth's Solar System. This reading of Jenkins's theories was included on the History Channel documentary, Decoding the Past. However, Jenkins has complained of the fact that a science fiction writer co-authored the documentary, and went on to characterize it as "45 minutes of unabashed doomsday hype and the worst kind of inane sensationalism". Some believers in a 2012 doomsday have used the term "galactic alignment" to describe a very different phenomenon proposed by some scientists to explain a pattern in mass extinctions supposedly observed in the fossil record. According to this hypothesis, mass extinctions are not random, but recur every 26 million years. To account for this, it suggests that vertical oscillations made by the Sun as it orbits the galactic center cause it to regularly pass through the galactic plane. When the Sun's orbit takes it outside the galactic plane which bisects the galactic disc, the influence of the galactic tide is weaker. However, when re-entering the galactic disc—as it does every 20–25 million years—it comes under the influence of the far stronger "disc tides", which, according to mathematical models, increase the flux of Oort cloud comets into the inner Solar System by a factor of 4, thus leading to a massive increase in the likelihood of a devastating comet impact. However, this "alignment" takes place over tens of millions of years, and could never be timed to an exact date. Evidence shows that the Sun passed through the plane bisecting the galactic disc only three million years ago and is now moving farther above it.
A third suggested alignment is some sort of planetary conjunction occurring on December 21, 2012. However, there will be no alignment of planets on that date. Multi-planet alignments did occur in both 2000 and 2010, each with no ill result for the Earth. Jupiter is the largest planet in the Solar System; larger than all other planets combined. When Jupiter is near opposition, the Earth experiences less than 1% the gravitational force it feels daily from the Moon. Geomagnetic reversal Another idea tied to 2012 involves a geomagnetic reversal (often incorrectly referred to as a pole shift by proponents), possibly triggered by a massive solar flare, that would release an energy equal to 100 billion atomic bombs. This belief is supposedly supported by observations that the Earth's magnetic field is weakening, which could precede a reversal of the north and south magnetic poles. Critics, however, claim that geomagnetic reversals take up to 7,000 years to complete, and do not start on any particular date. Furthermore, the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration now predicts that the solar maximum will peak in May 2013, not 2012, and that it will be fairly weak, with a below-average number of sunspots. In any case, there is no scientific evidence linking a solar maximum to a geomagnetic reversal, which is driven by forces entirely within the Earth. Instead, a solar maximum would be mostly notable for its effects on satellite and cellular phone communications. David Morrison attributes the rise of the solar storm idea to physicist and science popularizer Michio Kaku, who claimed in an interview with Fox News that a solar peak in 2012 could be disastrous for orbiting satellites. Planet X/Nibiru Main article: Nibiru collision Some proponents of doomsday in 2012 claim that a planet called Planet X, or Nibiru, will collide with or pass by Earth in that year. This idea, which has
appeared in various forms since 1995, initially predicted Doomsday in May, 2003, but proponents later abandoned that date after it passed without incident. The idea originated from claims of channeling of alien beings and has been widely ridiculed. Astronomers have calculated that such an object so close to Earth would be visible to anyone looking up at the night sky. Other catastrophes
The Pleiades, a star cluster whose supposed influence is sometimes tied to the 2012 phenomenon Other speculations regarding doomsday in 2012 have included predictions by the Web Bot project, a computer program that purports to predict the future using Internet chatter. However, commentators have rejected the programmers' claims to have successfully predicted natural disasters, which web chatter could never predict, as opposed to human-caused disasters like stock market crashes. Also, the 2012 date has been loosely tied to the long-running concept of the Photon Belt, which predicts a form of interaction between Earth and Alcyone, the largest star of the Pleiades cluster. Critics have argued that photons cannot form belts, that the Pleiades, located more than 400 light years away, could have no effect on Earth, and that the Solar System, rather than getting closer to the Pleiades, is in fact moving farther away from them. Some media outlets have tied the possibility that the red supergiant star Betelgeuse may undergo a supernova at some point in the future to the 2012 phenomenon. However, while Betelgeuse is certainly in the final stages of its life, and will die as a supernova, there is no way to predict the timing of the
event to within 100,000 years. To be a threat to Earth, a supernova would need to be as close as 25 light years to the Solar System. Betelgeuse is roughly 600 light years away, and so its supernova will not affect Earth. Another claim involves alien invasion. In December 2010, an article, first published in examiner.com and later referenced in the English-language edition of Pravda claimed, citing a Second Digitized Sky Survey photograph as evidence, that SETI had detected three large spacecraft due to arrive at Earth in 2012. Astronomer and debunker Phil Plait noted that by using the small-angle formula, one could determine that if the object in the photo was as large as claimed, it would have had to be closer to Earth than the Moon, which would mean it would already have arrived. Cultural influence The phenomenon has produced hundreds of books, as well as hundreds of thousands of websites. "Ask an Astrobiologist", a NASA public outreach website, has received over 5000 questions from the public on the subject since 2007, some asking whether they should kill themselves, their children or their pets. Many contemporary fictional references to the year 2012 refer to December 21 as the day of a cataclysmic event, including the bestselling book of 2009, Dan Brown's The Lost Symbol. The 2009 disaster film 2012 was inspired by the phenomenon, and advance promotion prior to its release included a stealth marketing campaign in which TV spots and websites from the fictional "Institute for Human Continuity" called on people to prepare for the end of the world. As these promotions did not mention the film itself, many viewers believed them to be real and contacted astronomers in panic. Although the campaign was heavily criticized, the film became one of the most successful of its year, grossing nearly $770 million worldwide. Lars von Trier's 2011 film Melancholia features a plot in which a planet emerges from behind the Sun onto a collision course with Earth. Announcing his company's purchase of the film, the head of Magnolia
Pictures said in a press release, "As the 2012 apocalypse is upon us, it is time to prepare for a cinematic last supper." makes reference to the phenomenon. The phenomenon has also inspired successful pop music hits such as "2012 (It Ain't the End)" (2010) performed by Jay Sean and "Till the World Ends" (2011) performed by Britney Spears. In 2011, the Mexico tourism board stated its intentions to use the year 2012, without its apocalyptic connotations, as a means to revive Mexico's tourism industry, which had suffered as the country gained a reputation for drug wars and kidnapping. The initiative hopes to draw on the mystical appeal of the Mayan ruins. Notes • a The number 13 plays an important role in Mesoamerican calendrics; the tzolk'in, or sacred calendar, was divided into 13 months of 20 days each. The Mayan may cycle consisted of 13 k'atuns. The reason for the number's importance is uncertain, though correlations to the phases of the moon and to the human gestation period have been suggested. • b The Mayan calendar, unlike the Western calendar, used a zero. • c Most Mayanist scholars, such as Mark Van Stone and Anthony Aveni, adhere to the "GMT (Goodman-Martinez-Thompson) correlation" with the Long Count, which places the start date at 11 August 3114 BC and the end date of b'ak'tun 13 at December 21, 2012. This date is also the overwhelming preference of those who believe in 2012 eschatology, arguably, Van Stone suggests, because it falls on a solstice, and is thus astrologically significant. Some Mayanist scholars, such as Michael D. Coe, Linda Schele and Marc Zender, adhere to the "Lounsbury/GMT+2" correlation, which sets the start date at 13 August and the end date at December 23. Which of these is the precise correlation has yet to be conclusively settled. Additionally, Swedish Mayanist Carl Johan
Calleman argues that the true end date is 28 October 2011. • d Coe's initial date was "December 24, 2011." He revised it to "11 January AD 2013" in the 1980 2nd edition of his book, not settling on December 23, 2012 until the 1984 3rd edition. The correlation of b'ak'tun 13 as 21 December 2012 first appeared in Table B.2 of Robert J. Sharer's 1983 revision of the 4th edition of Sylvanus Morley's book The Ancient Maya. It's an unfortunate fact that experts still have not answered the question about the mayan calender and 2012,with exact certainty.Oh they tend to fumble around with their own point of view and make rash decisions based on limited amounts of data at hand. It's a real shame so many pretend to know what their taking about based on a few crumbs of hard data, most when in the spotlight let their ego's run their decision making processes.I see alot of science fiction out there, epsecially the ones using religion to explain everything away, the biggest fools are the ones who pretend to think nothing is going to happen and do nothing to prepare, they don't seem to mind bringing others down with them in the process.
It is slowly sinking in for scientists, that mainstream Science is not the gospel.Maybe one day (if we have the time)we will grow up as a society and the idiocy of alot of experts will stop. cases in point-
A great many, many expert scientists with all their papers ,documents, and hard data testified that dinosauars became extinct 650 million years ago.Today we know this is not the case.COELACANTH; A prehistoric fish once thought to be extinct found living in modern times. As seen and touched by divers as recently as 2010 off Australian reefs,Sulawesi island,Nungwi, Northern Zanzibar, coast of South Africa in Sodwana Bay,Madagascar and the
list goes on. The outlook for 2012 and beyond looks grisly as protests and riots ensue worldwide. The once docile populace is now starting to rouse after being prodded into near submission and backed into a corner by ominous oligarchs who strive to set policy throughout the world. It is up to us cognizant ones to help jump start the snoring zombies, kicking thier asses into high gear. (You know),It's very hard to wake up stupidity.

Bikers Against Child Abuse International Breaking The Chains Of Abuse
MISSION BACA Mission Statement Bikers Against Child Abuse (BACA) exists with the intent to create a safer environment for abused children. We exist as a body of Bikers to empower children to not feel afraid of the world in which they live. We stand ready to lend support to our wounded friends by involving them with an established, united organization. We work in conjunction with local and state officials who are already in place to protect children. We desire to send a clear message to all involved with the abused child that this child is part of our organization, and that we are prepared to lend our physical and emotional support to them by affiliation, and our physical presence. We stand at the ready to shield these children from further abuse. We do not condone the use of violence or physical force in any manner, however, if circumstances arise such that we are the only obstacle preventing a child from further abuse, we stand ready to be that obstacle. How BACA Works Bikers Against Child Abuse, Inc. (BACA) is organized with a central contact person to receive calls from referring agencies and individuals. A recognized, authorized agency with which the child has had contact determines that the child is still frightened by his or her environment. The agency representative contacts BACA, or refers the individual to contact BACA and the name and address of the child is given to our BACA/Child
Liaison. The Liaison determines that the case is legitimate, meaning that the authorities have been contacted, and the case in being processed within the system. The Liaison contacts the family and an initial ride is organized to meet the child at their home or in some other location. The entire BACA chapter rides to meet the child and he/she is given a vest with a BACA patch sewn on the back. The child is free to wear the vest or not, and we support their decision. The child is also given bumper stickers, and other gifts that are generally donated by the public. These initial visits generally last about a half an hour. Following this initial contact, the child is given the name and number of two BACA members residing geographically closest to them, who then become the child's primary contact person(s). Prior to becoming the primary contacts for the child, the bikers are cleared for participation by clearing an extensive background check, have ridden with the Chapter for at least a year, and have received special instructions from the Licensed Mental Health Professional. Anytime the child feels scared and feels the need for the presence of his new BACA family, the child may call upon these bikers to go to the child's house and provide the necessary reassurance to feel safe and protected. BACA members and supporters also support the children by: providing escorts for them if they feel scared in their neighborhoods; riding by their homes on a regular basis; supporting the children at court and parole hearings; attending their interviews, and; staying with the children if they are alone and frightened. The BACA members never go to the child's house alone and never without the knowledge or permission of the parents. Our mission is not to be permanently engaged as the child's power. Our mission is to help the children and their families learn how powerful they can be. Our presence will be available as long as the child needs us. BACA also holds other functions for the children such as Bar-B-Ques, and parties. Level 1 Intervention Will consist of the organization deploying a ride, uniting as many BACA members as are able to attend. We will ride as a group to the child’s house where the parent(s) / Guardians will be present to assist us in
presenting the child with a patch, stickers, and a photograph of the child with his/her new biker family. If the child is afraid, it is our hope the child will use the photograph as a comfort to convey the message “I am not alone, and you don’t want to mess with my family.” Level 2 Intervention If Level one is not sufficient to deter further abuse or harassment, several BACA members will be sent for further exposure. This group of BACA members will create a presence at the home of the child, being visible at times when the family might be the most vulnerable. The purpose of BACA’s presence is to deter further abuse and to protect the children and the family, if necessary. Level 3 Intervention If the physical presence of our BACA members at the residence of the child’s home does not deter the abuser, a formal letter will be drafted by the Chapter President or Vice-President in the area in which the abuser lives. This letter will be written on BACA letterhead. The substance of the letter will be to explain to the perpetrator that we are prepared to take whatever steps are necessary to become the obstacle to further abuse. Level 4 Intervention While it is against the purpose of BACA to purposely engage a perpetrator, we will ask for the general geographical location of the offender, and conduct a “Neighborhood Awareness Ride” in which we will ride to the general location given to us and go door to door letting people know who we are, hand out stickers to kids, and distribute our literature regarding our mission and how we function. If the location or address of the perpetrator becomes known to any BACA Member, we will immediately withdraw our physical presence to avoid any contact. BACA does not condone, support or participate in the use of aggression, violence or physical force in any manner. If, however, ANY person should seek to inflict harm on one of our BACA Members, we will respond with commitment and loyalty to protect our Member.
Our Court Appearances We also attend court with our wounded friends. The sole purpose for our physical presence is to assist the child in being less intimidated and frightened, and subsequently give an accurate testimony regarding his/her abuse. If the child requests our presence in the courtroom, the parent or guardian for the child must petition the child’s attorney, who then will intercede on behalf of the child to the presiding Judge. Absolutely no physical confrontation of the perpetrator will be tolerated by BACA, and anyone acting in such a manner will be acting outside of the scope of BACA and will be held completely and solely accountable for his/her actions. When possible, the two bikers assigned to the child as his/her primary contacts should be in attendance. Given that it is not always possible for the primary contact bikers to be in attendance, a petition may be made to the general membership for their attendance and support. A listing of the court dates and times will be kept and updated on the BACA hotline at all times. BACA Creed I am a member of Bikers Against Child Abuse. The die has been cast. The decision has been made. I have stepped over the line. I wont look back, let up, slow down, back away, or be still. My past has prepared me, my present makes sense, and my future is secure. I'm finished and done with low living, sight walking, small planning, smooth knees, colorless dreams, tamed visions, mundane talking, cheap giving, and dwarfed goals. I no longer need pre-eminence, prosperity, position, promotions, plaudits, or popularity. I don't have to be right, first, tops, recognized, praised, regarded, or rewarded. I now live by the faith in my works, and lean on the strength of my brothers and sisters. I love with patience, live by prayer, and labor with power. My fate is set, my gait is fast, my goal is the ultimate safety of children. My road is narrow, my way is rough, my companions are tried and true, my Guide is reliable, my mission is clear. I cannot be bought,
compromised, detoured, lured away, turned back, deluded, or delayed. I will not flinch in the face of sacrifice, hesitate in the presence of adversity, negotiate at the table of the enemy, ponder at the pool of popularity, or meander in the maze of mediocrity. I wont give up, shut up, let up, until I have stayed up, stored up, prayed up, paid up, and showed up for all wounded children. I must go until I drop, ride until I give out, and work till He stops me. And when He comes for His own, He will have no problem recognizing me, for He will see my BACA backpatch and know that I am one of His. I am a member of Bikers Against Child Abuse, and this is my creed. Chapters

~This is the last month we will be posting this section, however there are many sites with with groups dedicated to the subject! Be sure to check them out! Gothic Forever (Pagan UnderWorld) Gothic Seduction (Earth Monster World)~
Gothic Angel Death
Everyone from gothic philosophers though to animals know they die everyone... its an absolute its funny enough a force that drives us, but that's the joy of it, we know one thing in existence if NOTHING else we are going to die! We might have thoughts on what happens after and where we go from there but at least we know that one thing. I really think its important to understanding how important life is and questioning the every day and the everything because we won't be around forever to do so. I question everything every day how people see me what I look like to others and just random things just because it lets you know your alive. We live to die. Its simple there is no other point to it really there is a long path and at the end of it is death.
We live to die... not a nice phrase is it? It's not mine but it belongs to the gothic world. Here is a quote of my own. In life I stumble and into the waiting arms of death I fall. You do stumble though life, mistakes and stuff up's all make the journey an interesting one but sadly some people don't even get a chance to live breathe grow old and die. If life is a journey why then does an unborn child sometimes die before being born or why at the peak of his or her life does a twenty three year old have a heart attack and drop dead? In my own sad morbid gothic sense they did get to live and walk the path even if it was short beyond words. But why do the fates, god or whatever it is IF anything out there decide that. Funny enough the ones who loved that person can't accept that fate and the public if such an event happens and they see it can be affected or no. It leads back to spirituality and a soul as it where and then to faith and so many bad things which I feel we do not need to grow as a species. If we don't have a soul then there is nothing to it really is there? And if we do then I still don't know what the deal is after so heck who cares haha. What about some of the bad people out there who laugh at the misfortune of others? What of them? Does it mean it's not affected them yet that death hasn't come to their door or that maybe they are so inured to it they can't feel the affect of death. I call death a she and I think she is a beautiful gothic angel form in her own right. Should we not worship the actual thing that comes for us all? We all fear death but the only reason why is because we are worried there is nothing after her taking us away with her. But that's why people get religion because it suddenly explains away things and gives life, and death a purpose. For instance Vikings had Valhalla; christans had heaven and so forth. But then you had to be a good person or warrior to go to those. If you were not a good person or you died in your bed old and frail you met the other side the hell's as it where.
But then it leads to ethics also do you need to be a good person or a bad one when you die? What if you lived life as a bad person and only at the end did you want to change, is there even a need to change? Will the deeds of life carry forth unto your death? I personally can't make assumptions about what happens after death because I'm not dead and I've not came back from being dead because funny enough I can't. But you know I will and I know you will have your own ideas. We can read books and they can tell us of gothic people who have had near death experiences or have died for a minute or two. But then I've read A LOT of books and seen a lot of documentaries which funny enough give the impression that even if you're dead your brain doesn't stop functioning. Could it be whilst the power fades away so you don't feel unhappy whilst you die you actually get to see whatever it is you believed in life as like a curtains falling moment? And if your brought back maybe you believe it actually happened when really it was all in your then fading mind. You live your life according to a set of rules, faith, moral's, ethic's however you put it, you're alive and like for many for the whole time you try to forget your going to die. I think gothic death is beautiful myself my own PERSONAL beliefs are that its one journey ended another began you will die and maybe it's a soul some kind of substance being that incorporates you that is let go from a body that now is free to see it all. Maybe? But honestly what's not to say that death is like becoming a butterfly we as human are merely a cocoon before out death of which we become a butterfly free to roam the universe. Will we find others on our travels? And then
what… you can't be that way forever maybe we get a choice as to what happens after. When you consider this heaven sounds boring hell sounds the same all the things places faiths have to offer can they entertain a soul forever? But then one must ask the question of a soul unborn and also ask when does one if this soul exists obtain it? You where never born what will happen? Or what if you died a child will you be that way forever or referring to other chapters will you lose that fallible body and see everything clearly.
666 The Gothic Number Of The Beast
666 the number of the beast in the christian bible: Revelation 13:11-18: And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon. And he exerciseth all the power of the first beast before him, and causeth the earth and them which dwell therein to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed. And he doeth great wonders, so that he maketh fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men, And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live. And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed. And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name. Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of
a man; and his number is six hundred threescore and six."
666 the number of the beast in history: 666 is also the number of nero caesar. If you write the "Nero Caesar" in Greek, then transliterate it into Hebrew and add up the letters, you will get 666. The notorious tyrant who persecuted the Jews and Christians in sadistic ways like burning, drowning and make them fight in the gladiators` arena against soldiers and other dangerous animals.
666 the number of the beast in our culture: As the time passes from the days of the bible, the association of the number of the beast - 666 with darkness, evil, satan and bad prophecies pervaded to our believes and culture. "Hexakosioihexekontahexaphobia" means 666-pobia, a fear of the number 666. People who has this pobia avoids from this number by all means. they also afraid of the date 06/06/06 and preffer to stay at home. but they are not the only one who avoid this evil number. In our daily life we encounter the dark 666 pretty much everywhere like the streets, the roads, the house address and phone numbers.
666 the number of the beast in mathematics: 666 is the sum of the squares of the first seven prime numbers: 22 + 32 + 52 + 7 2 + 112 + 132 + 172 = 666 666 = 16 - 26 + 36
666 = 6 + 6 + 6 + 63 + 63 + 63
To many the mentioning of 666, the Beast, abruptly brings to mind the English occultist and magician Aleister Crowley. Although Crowley had never been classified as Gothic, or a Goth, one familiar with his character and works would probably agree that he would fit into the subculture. As a youngster he admired his father a retired brewer and a strong preacher for the Plymouth Brethren, a Christian fundamentalist sect in nineteenth century England. As a child Crowley become a fervent little Plymouth Brother who studied the Bible eagerly. The prophetic passages in the Book of Revelation of the Beast 666 and the Scarlet Woman particularly fascinated him. He readily imagined himself a servant of God battling Satan and his hordes.
He was not an unhappy child until after his father’s death. It is uncertain what caused his change of behavior, but certainly a contribution factor was his mother’s and his move to his maternal Uncle Tom Bishop’s London resident. Of his uncle he wrote: "No more cruel fanatic, no meaner villain ever walked the earth." And, of his mother: "...her powerful maternal instincts were suppressed by religion to the point that she became, after her husband’s death, a brainless bigot of the most narrow, logical and inhuman type" It seemed that her son’s mischievous behavior had prompted her to call him "the Beast." One quickly recognizes that even in childhood the evil influence of religion on Crowley.
The term "the Beast" had a great influence upon Crowley’s entire life, an influence which was entirely opposite of what his mother desired. She wanted the name to shame him into servitude; instead it rallied him into defiance. At times he called himself the Antichrist. To express Crowley’s views would consume a website, and there are many on the Internet doing so for those
interested. In summation, he considered Christianity as the destruction of human freedom and the worshipping of death; whereas, he considered the religion of Thelema, which he founded, the bringing together of the spiritual with the material for the liberation of humanity.
The point is not whether one agrees with him or not; it is that Crowley had both his admirers and his enemies. One could even say his own mother became his enemy, whether she solely or greatly influenced his life is debatable but she was part of the discrimination which he felt. But the most important point is this discrimination failed to stop him; the number 666 accompanied by it title, the Beast, just speared him on. He took solace in his endeavors to liberate himself and others. This is why I think the Beast should be mentioned. When preparing this article I did some research on the web on Gothic culture, I really found the discrimination against Goths there too, some not even discrimination just plain stupidity. Crowley is an example, criticism maybe there, but belief in yourself and your way of life can overcome that.

Thunder in the Mountains
Denver, Colorado, USA
Welcome From Rich Dockter and Brian Conway, Directors We want to sincerely welcome you to our 15th Anniversary of Thunder in the Mountains! With an outstanding line-up of presenters & classes, the return of comedian, John Pendal, as our talent show emcee, our 40,000 sq. ft. dungeon, and a brand new pony track, this promises to be the best party so far. To our returning attendees we would offer hugs of renewal and friendship, and to our first time attendees, we want you to know that we welcome you with open arms as well. Each year in the text of this website, we discuss the standards of public behavior that we expect of our attendees at Thunder so that you may understand why we impose such rules. And each year some of the long time attendees tell me I sound like I am lecturing a bunch of kids. If you feel like we are lecturing you when reading my caveats, please understand that I reiterate these rules each year mostly for the newbies and inexperienced among us, but we also want everyone (new and old alike) to realize how important our good conduct remains to our ability to continue to host our event in Denver each summer. It takes only one incident (unintended or not) to create a firestorm that can get us closed down. So, when reading through our rules, please take no offense at their tone. None was intended.
I am only trying to keep us alive as an event. Even though the Crown Plaza DIA is renting rooms only to Thunder members on the nights of Friday and Saturday (July 13 & 14) please be aware that there may be people in the hotel for various other reasons (staff, maintenance, non-scene guests, bar/restaurant patrons, etc.). We would ask that you please be respectful of their sensitivities and their sense of morals. There are members of the hotel staff who ARE offended and who do not think this sort of thing is either cute or funny. Please respect their sensibilities as we expect them to respect ours. No matter how strongly we may believe in our own moral codes, it is not up to us to make these judgments for others. Our continuation in this hotel may depend upon how well we are received by all people in the hotel.... staff and others alike. So please be friendly and respectful to everyone. As we have said above, for many this sort of discussion about standards of behavior is no longer even necessary. Most of us have been to events all over the country, and we understand that our behavior in public venues reflects upon our entire community across the nation. But there are always those people, however, who feel it is proper and necessary to push the envelope and to try and shock those outside our community. So for those people, let us reiterate---at Thunder we maintain a basic, common sense approach to public behavior, dress, and decorum. That means specifically that there will be no exposed genitals or women’s breasts, no groping, no lewd behavior or scening in the public areas, and there will be no walking of slaves or subs through the public areas of the hotel on chains, ropes or other bondage equipment. This means that when you go to the restaurant to eat or when you decide to walk through the lobby area on your way to a demo, vendor space, or play party, PLEASE remember that you are in a public area and that non-scene staff and other citizens may be present. If you are wearing fetish wear that is risqué, cover up until you get into the secure membership-only areas. Your behavior in this regard, whether in Denver or elsewhere, reflects significantly upon our ability to continue booking these great hotels for our leather events. We ask your cooperation here not only because it helps to keep our event open, but because
behaving in a civilized manner in a public area is the right thing to do. At Thunder we remain proud that our event continues to have an absolute minimum of rules imposed by Thunder staff and administration. We can make this claim because Thunder is a gathering where we have some of the most experienced and mature players in the country attending. We want our event to be seen as the one event in the nation where all attendees (both novice and experienced) can feel at ease and feel relatively free to choose for themselves at any one time the proper course of action in public or scene behavior. Such freedom of choice, like all freedom, carries with it a great burden of responsibility, however, and we want to trust the real players who attend Thunder not only to step up to the plate in this regard but to encourage and set an example for the novices and less experienced players who may attend Thunder for the first time. We make or break our national leather events by the way we act as individuals, and we hope to prove ourselves capable as continuing as a part of this premiere event. This year we intend on having another GREAT gathering with the best presenters in the country coming together with the best players in the country, and we hope to see you here. Rocky Mountain Leather Sir/boy and Community Bootblack Thunder in the Mountains, LLC, and RMLSb/CBB Producer, Brian Conway, are proud to announce the addition of the Rocky Mountain Leather Sir/boy contest to our big Thunder weekend. The Leather Sir/boy contest grew out of the now defunct International Mr. Drummer & Drummer boy contests started decades ago before by Drummer Magazine in San Francisco, CA.These contests began then and remain today a celebration of male leather sex and leather sex play. The primary goal of the contest winners and of the titles themselves is education, networking, and outreach expressing the eroticism, traditions, and history of gay leathermen worldwide. The Leather Sir/boy contest is open to gay leathermen and leather boys living in the Rocky Mountain Region of the U.S. (Colorado, Nevada, Utah, and
Wyoming). The contest categories include a judged interview, formal speech, physique (expressed by contestants in jock straps), and performance of a leather sex fantasy. Contestants may be sponsored by a club, business, individual or may be self sponsored, but all contestants must agree to the list of specific contestant qualifications. As part of the leather weekend we will also host a competition for Community Bootblack. Unlike the Leather Sir/boy contest, Community Bootblack is open to any person of any gender identity. Bootblacks will be judged on interview, formal speech, technical bootblacking/shine abilities, and interpersonal skills/observation. This contest also focuses on the sexual aspects of the exchange between the bootblack and the customer. The winners of both the Leather Sir/boy contest and the Community Bootblack contest will be obligated to compete at the International Leather Sir/boy/CBB competition the following year. The international contest will follow the same judging criteria as the regional contests except at the International contest, each region will receive a specific theme around which to build their “fantasy” for the fantasy aspect of the competition. There are 16 separate regions in the U.S. Regional winners must also appear back at the regional contest the following year to present the title to the next year’s winners. Titleholders will be expected to serve as ambassadors for their region and are expected to travel to other leather events around the world to promote the leather philosophy and lifestyle as well as to reach out to those who are curious or new to the scene to provide for them a conduit into the community. It is with great honor that we introduce to Denver and the Rockies the Rocky Mountain Leather Sir/boy contest and the Community Bootblack Contest. We encourage you to get in on all the fun by attending, and for those of you who are interested and meet the entry criteria, we encourage you to compete!

Role Play The Asylum
I haven't covered much on roleplay throughout my articles and I would like to with this issue. The fun thing about roleplay is that it brings new ideas and excitement to our lifestyles. As many have come to see with me I am more into the extreme BDSM life style and so is the roleplay and as much as I enjoy the hunt and capture or priest and nun roleplay I have enjoyed the idea's of doing the Asylum, and who wouldn't, straightjackets, electro shock, and tons of ways to use the mind fuck..... And even better if you have access to an abandoned Asylum where you can really turn up visuals and make your sub/slave plead and beg for more. I can see your minds turning now let me help you a bit. Let us start off with coming into the house and securing our patient or if you are like me and want to add a bit more to it it can even happen outside as your sub/slave is getting into there car or a sleep on the bed, which will give them a sense of being captured. For me I enjoy the struggle and fight just before I use the siringe to put them to sleep, (for those that do not now how to use needle's and are not familiar with tranquilizers please don't use this method) but if you wish to get the proper training for it, will add to the scene. From here you can now start to bind your sub/slave with the straight jacket I'd recommend doing this as they are starting to drift off so that the last thing they remember is being bond and dragged to the car. Now from here is were you can get creative and really give your sub/slave a treat. Let them come to in a darkened room having them on a metal table bond tightly, have some water dripping so they can hear it, even better if you can have it dripping on them just in the right places, keep the room dark letting them take in the room before you begin. For this first part I would
recommend not verbal talking on the Dom/Master part, letting them only feel and sense what is happening. Play to the fact she/he can't see and can only feel and use the toys that will affect this, such as hot and cold play, water is always fun as well as having the head of the table being able to drop so that there head is hanging down and feel free to use a spreader to open the mouth fully and using your sub/slaves mouth for your pleasure. After awhile you can change the scene so you can explore more of all the things that can happen in an asylum. If you have access to multiple rooms have each room set up for a different type of scene and by doing this it will also let your sub/slave have a break in between as they are moved from room to room, and on the second room you may choose to drug them once more and on the rest drag them to the next room. I would do a scene with electro play and verbal abuse mixed with humiliation. Then would switch to some fun torture pushing my sub to her very limits. These are just some examples use your minds and be creative and enjoy what comes out of it, and trust me you will be well pleased as will your sub/slave. It is just one more way to add excitement to our life style. Final thought, keep it safe and make sure you have knowledge in the toys and tools you use and know how far you can push your sub/slave.
Let me feel your loving pain
By Andrew Pain is but the sweet satisfaction of the soul, As it is purged by the Master’s hand, Longing to please his erotic beauty, With whip and chains, Ropes and gags, She begins to cry out in begging pleasure, As she sub comes to the pain, Pleading for more, To satisfy her every need, Spare not your Hand, Let me feel the scourge across my back, And your hand around my neck, Make me cry out with loving pleasure, Please do not hold back, Take me upon the floor, And ravage me the way that only you can, Oh Master, Oh Master, Please do not stop, Purge my every sinful desire, Bend me in position that defy reality, Spare me not your twisted fantasy’s, I am here only to serve thee, Let me feel your loving pain Over & over Sweet blessed Pain.

Who Killed David Kato?
by John Paul
What does American Evangelicalism have to do with the murder of Uganda’s most prominent LGBT activist? More than you’re probably comfortable with. A visiting neighbor found him lying on the floor. He was bleeding with serious wounds to the head where he had been struck with a hammer. The mysterious assailant had fled the scene. David Kato died on the way to the hospital. The police quickly labeled it as a robbery - but those who
knew the victim suspected otherwise. Kato was, after all, a marked man. Only a few months before, a local Ugandan tabloid called The Rolling Stone had released a list of “top homos” complete with names and addresses. Kato’s picture was on the front page, along with a banner that read “Hang Them.” “When my brother wanted to do something then no one could stop him. He was very brave.” - John Malumba Wasswa, Kato’s brother. Kato was a prominent LGBT activist in Uganda, a country where homophobia is reaching a fever pitch. It is a place where many believe that homosexuals are “recruiting children” and “raiding schools.” It is also where the “Kill The Gays” bill, a piece of legislation that would make homosexuality a crime punishable by death, was proposed. Kato’s murder and the controversial “Kill the Gays” bill caused international uproar and left human rights groups scratching their heads. What caused Uganda’s descent to violent homophobia? The chilling answer traces hatred and violence in Uganda back to the United States and the religious right.David Kato, before his death, had spoken out against American evangelicals stirring up homophobia in Africa. His allies in Sexual Minorities Uganda have also cited the role of America’s religious right as pivotal in the rise of hatred against homosexuals in Uganda. And now we can attempt to answer the question: Who Killed David Kato? “David’s death is a result of the hatred planted in Uganda by U.S. evangelicals in 2009. The so-called U.S. evangelicals must take responsibility for David’s blood.” - Val Kalende, the chairwoman of one of Uganda’s gay rights groups. Homosexuality has long been a taboo in Uganda. Economic devastation and internal political strife, however, had taken precedence over the issue. It wasn’t until evangelicals took an interest in the African country that homosexuality and politics began to merge. And so the scapegoating of gays began - an export of America. For American missionaries, Uganda was ideal. As the gay rights movement in the United States picked up steam and homosexuality was becoming increasingly more acceptable, anti-gay Christians on the far right began to feel
that they were losing the culture war. And so they turned to a place where their ideals might take root a little better. Missionaries began visiting Uganda and preaching to the people there. Unfortunately, they did not preach peace and love. They chose instead to conduct a little social experiment with Uganda by preaching intensely anti-gay rhetoric. Three of those evangelicals and their actions are chronicled below. 1. Scott Lively
Scott Lively is an American author and attorney. He co-wrote a book called The Pink Swastika in which he states that homosexuals are the true inventors of Nazism. He is the former state director of the California branch of the American Family Association. He brought these radical ideas to Africa where they stirred up hatred of
gays. “If your definition of homosexuality is being able to do whatever you want to and that you should be able to go and engage in sex with another person and because of that the disease you have is going to spread to that person and they’re going to take it home and give it to their wife, how much tolerance should we have for that?…zero tolerance.” - Lively on homosexuality Here is a clip of Lively detailing his role in the “Pro-Family” movement in Uganda:
2. Richard Cohen
Richard Cohen is an American conversion therapist. He is a leader in the ex-gay movement and is, in fact, an “ex-gay” himself. He is also an evangelical Christian. His book, “Coming Out Straight,” has been cited as an inspiration for the “Kill the Gays” bill. “Homosexuals are at least 12 times more likely to molest children than heterosexuals; homosexual teachers are at least 7 times more likely to molest a pupil. 40% of molestation assaults were made by those who engage in
homosexuality.” - Cohen in his book“Coming Out Straight.” His book has been criticized for being based largely on assumptions. And just how much has his book affected homophobia in Uganda? Take a look at this video in which Stephen Langa, head of the Family Life Network in Uganda and the main proponent of the “Kill the Gays” bill, references Cohen’s book: 3. Lou Engle
Lou Engle is a charismatic Christian leader in America. He is best known for founding “The Call” which hosts twelve hour prayer rallies. His ministry is also featured in the documentary “Jesus Camp.” “Today, America is losing its religious freedom. We are trying to restrain an agenda that is sweeping through the education system. Uganda has become ground zero.” - Engle, speaking to a crowd of Ugandans on making homosexuality punishable by death. Engle traveled to Uganda to praise their government’s efforts to combat homosexuality - including the “Kill the Gays” bill. Here is a clip of him speaking out to a crowd of Ugandans:
So, who killed David Kato? Homophobia, globalized culture wars, and Americans preaching hate. None of the missionaries listed above actually struck Kato with the hammer, but they and others who brought their twisted anti-gay ideas to Uganda are responsible for his death. And they are also responsible for the rise of hatred and violence against LGBT people in the country. Things like this:
are the direct results of American evangelicals stirring up homophobia in Uganda. So what does this story mean for those of us who support gay rights here in America? It means we have to be vigilant. What anti-gay evangelicals did in Uganda is what they wish they could accomplish here: a culture that believes gays are evil. While many of them have tried to distance themselves from the controversial “Kill the Gays” bill, they remain unchanged in their view of homosexuality as a disease to be eradicated. David Kato was buried by his close friends after the pastor who was supposed to oversee the ceremony chose instead to go on an anti-gay tirade. Even in death, peace seemed elusive for Kato. Indeed, for all gay people in Uganda, the road ahead is long and tumultuous. To honor David Kato’s memory and to stand with our allies in Uganda, we must remember that we cannot afford to be complacent. The men on this list who caused so much damage to the gay community in Uganda reside right here in the United States where they continue to preach hatred. We must support gay rights and human dignity in America if we ever want to see a day where their vitriol cannot harm anyone else. http://jpbrammer.tumblr.com/post/15628614058/who-killed-david-kato

Among the thousands of articles posted here for your consideration, there will doubtless be some that you find useless, and possibly offensive, but we believe you will be perceptive enough to realize that even the stories you disagree with have some value in terms of promoting your own further self-definition and insight. Our magazine is a smorgasbord of material...take what you wish and click or scroll right past that which doesn't interest you. We suggest you don't make 'assumptions' about our official position on issues that are discussed here. That is not what this Magazine is about. We believe it to be unwise to sweep controversy under the carpet. We also firmly believe people should not only read material which they agree with. The opinions expressed through the thousands of stories here do not necessarily represent those of the Editors. We are not going to censor the news and information here. That is for you to do. We strongly recommend not 'assuming' anything. Read, consider, and make your own informed decisions. People 'assumed' the Warren Commission
report was accurate. People 'assumed' the Federal Government would never conduct biochemical experiments on the general populace. People 'assumed' the world was once flat. One more time... Keepers Of The Realms Magazine does not necessarily adhere to, or endorse, any or all of the links, stories, articles, editorials, or products offered by sponsors found on this magazine. All of the materials and data offered in this Magazine are for informational and educational purposes only. And remember: it's all free to you Thank you for reading. Enjoy. Sweet Dark Angel and Andrew
