The prices of good sold in shops are vary from one shop to another shop. Shoppers tend to buy goods which are not only reasonably priced but also give value for their money . I had carried out a survey on four different items based on the following categories which is food ,detergent and stationary . The survey was done in three different shops which is MYDIN MALL , G-MART and FAMILY STORE. Informations below shows the results from my research .

Question (d) :
Based on all the graph in question 1(c) ,we can conclude that Family Store offers the lowest price for their customers. Then followed by Mydin Mall and G-Mart. This is because the supplier of the Family Store gives the special price for its as it buy by bulk. Mydin Mall offer the normal price for their customer as it does not get special price from the supplier. While ,G-Mart have to sold the items at the higher price because the shop buy the items by bulk from Family Store. Other factors that influenced the prices of goods in the shops is such as the location of the shop ,population of the customers ,the status of the shop ,the size of the shop , and the rent for the shop. Family Store can offere the lowest price because it is situated at stratergic place sp indirectly this factor can attract customers to buy at the store. When there are many customers ,the demand of the items will be high and the mall can buy by bulk directly with the supplier to get the special price. The status of the shop also influenced the price of the goods sold. As example the shop with status store or mall will offer the lowest price than the shop with status mini market. The size of the shop also influenced the price. When the size of the shop is bigger or larger its mean it can sell many different items in the shop. Indirectly the shop will known as one stop center and it will attract many customers as the people nowadays are very busy. Family Store is a big store and also known as hypermarket and it provides many items that we need in our life. Eventhough Family Store have to pay rent for the place ,but it not gives too much effects to the price of goods sold as it has many buyers. Mydin Mall and G-Mart cannot offer the prices as Family Store because they are situated outside the urban area like Family Store. So the population of the customer will not be as many as customers in Family Store. These shops get the supply for their goods from Family Store. Even they buy by bulk with Family Store but their prices still will be higher than Family Store. The size of these shop also small and not so large as Family Store and they cannot provide too much goods for their customers. They just sold basic needed for their customers. As they not have too much customers ,so the rent that they have to pay will influenced the price of the goods sold.

As a conclusion ,there are many factors that affect the price of the goods solds in a shop. So,we must be a smart customer to ensure we can get the lowest price when buying any goods. The grand total based on the survey I carried out on four different items based on the following categories which is food ,detergent ,and stationary in Family Store is RM 53.20 but in Mydin Mall is RM 55.10 and in GMart is RM 55.20. Hence,Family Store has the cheapest grand total and it gives highest discounts and offers to their customers. The graph and pie chart below shows the conclusion of the difference among the shops based upon the shops grand total :

GRAND TOTAL
RM55.50 RM55.00 RM54.50 RM54.00 RM53.50 RM53.00 RM52.50 RM52.00 RM53.20 FAMILY STORE G-MART MYDIN MALL RM55.30 RM55.10

Question (e) :
The item has large price different among the shops is marker. Family Store sold it at RM3.00 ,G-Mart sold it 3.60 while Mydin Mall sold it at RM3.90. Calculate the mean :

Calculate the standard deviation :

The difference of the price of the marker in these three shops is maybe due to the price given by the supplier to the shops. Family Store can sold it at the lowest price because the demand of the buyers for the item is high so it can buy by bulk with the supplier. So the shop can get the special price. The demand of the item in G-Mart and Mydin Mall are low. This is because the customers are more interested to buy the stationery items in hypermarket like Family Store or in stationery shops as there are more options to choose ,for example there are many options to choose and buy stationery things in Family Store. So ,G-Mart and Mydin Mall cannot buy by bulk the stationery items with their supplier. Hence ,they sell goods with large and expensive price compare to Family Store.

Question (a) :
From the data in Part 1 ,I would go to Family Store to purchase the ingredients for the butter cakes. This is because Family Store offers the lowest price among G-Mart and Mydin Mall for the items I want to buy. So my class able to sold the butter cakes at the lower price and get some profits from the sale in that carnival. Futhermore ,Family Store is located not far from my school and also my house. So it is easier for my friends and I to go there and buy the the necessary items to bake butter cakes.

Calculate the composite index :

To calculate the composite index , firstly ,find the weightage for the every items used from the quantity per cake. Then ,obtain every items price index from the calculation in question (c). After that ,take every items price index and multiply with their value of weightage and finally divide with the sum of all items weightage. Calculate it by using calculator.
