About OneLife Institute Founded in 2004, OneLife Institute is an Oakland-based nonprofit interfaith organization working at the intersection of spirituality and social action. We support and empower individuals and groups in personal healing and the creation of a more just, compassionate, and sustainable world. We believe that spirituality and social activism are complementary and synergistic. Spiritual experience can motivate and sustain activism, offering replenishment in the face of burnout and fostering integrity, compassion, vision, and hope. Activism provides a context for spiritual practice, transforming our selves as we work to transform our world. OneLife nourishes the resilience of activists, organizers, caregivers, educators, artists, and others working to lift up our communities. We are particularly committed to serving those who live under the significant stress of poverty, violence and oppression. In all that we do there is the common thread of concern for peace and justice, interfaith and multiracial community building, a holistic approach to healing and growth, and the incorporation of the creative arts (both performance and participatory). Our offerings include: classes and workshops, retreats, publications, events, counseling, consulting, and an array of web-based resources. All of our programs and services are available on a sliding scale basis, with no one turned away for lack of funds. Please visit to learn more about the organization.
