Mysteries of the Earth

The year is 2012, and although it seems like the race of mankind has been rapidly advancing and becoming more modern, humans have not been able to explain the vast mysteries of the earth. The Earth is 4.54 billion years old, and mankind has set foot on Earth for 6 million years old, but todays modern scientists have not been able to explain some of the biggest mysteries of the Earth

The Bermuda Triangle

The Bermuda Triangle is a large region within the Atlantic Ocean which has been the host for a large amount of mysterious disappearances of air and surface vehicles. One of the most amazing and baffling disappearances was the USS Cyclops, which was recorded to be the largest loss of life in the history of the US Navy(not related to wartime combat). On March 4th, 1918, the USS Cyclops was sent to sail to Baltimore, from Barbados. As the ship passed through the Bermuda Triangle, it was soon lost, and no sign of the ship was found. On June 1st, 1918, the ship was officially declared to be lost at sea. The triangle has also been a site for the sighting of UFOs and other alien like activities. Scientists, however, have explained that the numbers of incidents in the Bermuda Triangle are no different from any other area in the world today, and that incidents are caused by Magnetic fluctuations, The Gulf Stream, Human Error, Violent Weather, and Rogue Waves.

The Missing Colony of Roanoke

During the first stages of colonization in the Americas, Queen Elizabeth I had authorized for the colonization of America, giving permission for Sir Walter Raleigh to set up a colony in what is now present day Virginia. On April 9 th, 1585, five ships were dispatched, containing inhabitants for the colony to be set up. On June 6th, 1585, the fleet had reached the area, and the colony had explored the land in order to set up the colony. Raleigh then left, going to England to tell the queen of his success. In 1587, Raleigh went back to Roanoke, with plans of bringing more colonists, but when he arrived on July 22nd, they found nothing but a skeleton, realizing that the nearby Native Americans had killed most of the tribe. Nevertheless, Raleigh left 150 more colonists, and he left John White in charge of the group. White returned to England, and came back in 1590. When he returned to the colony, he could not find any trace of the colony. All he had found was, CROATOAN to be carved on the bark of a tree trunk One theory is that the local Indians had wiped out the whole colony, while another theory says that the colony had just left.

The Loch Ness Monster

The Loch Ness Monster is a fabled monster who has been told to reside in a lake in Scotland, known as the Loch Ness. Many people believe that is real, while many believe that it is not. In 1933, a couple had seen a most extraordinary form of animal and it seemed to be a type of dinosaur, which has 25 feet long. Also, in 1954, A Sonar found a large object to be travelling within the Loch at a depth of 800 feet. Many attempts have gone in vain as to find an actual presence of the monster, but many people have taken alleged photos of the monster. The image to the right is known as the Surgeons Photograph, but it has been scientifically proven to be a fake. Scientists have led to believe that people are most likely to be misidentifying common animals, like bird wakes, and even large eels to be the Loch Ness Monster.

UFOs and Area 51

Unidentified Flying Objects have been a topic for discussion with many scientists around the world. The first reported UFO was reported in 1878, in Texas. UFOs have been reported to be of a circular disk shape, and to have bright, blinking lights. The UFO appears for some time, but then quickly flees the area of visual detection. A famous case of a person who had claimed to be abducted by a UFO was known as Travis Walton. He was reported to be missing for five days, during which intensive searches were conducted searching for him. Walton claims to have had extra-terrestrials abduct him. Further research shows that he is not lying. We may never know the truth about this controversy. However, Area 51, an American Military Base, has led to be one of the explanations, as they have said to prototype different aerospace vehicles for travel, which people may mistake for an Alien like UFO.

Mona Lisa
The Mona Lisa has always been an intriguing topic. Why is the mysterious lady smiling? When was the piece of art painted? These are one of the most interesting stories. There are many interesting points that were discovered about the painting, like how a stone had been thrown at the picture, and this had been repaired by Da Vinci. Also, the left finger of the Mona Lisa had never been completed. Recently, Scientists had uncovered some hidden animals within the picture. There is a buffalo, ape, and a lion hidden in the picture. Another interesting fact about the painting is that there are actually hidden letters and numbers within the picture.
