CD-ROM installation instructions for Windows users

You can find the following instructions at the root of the contents of the CD-ROM
(file ‘Installation instructions’). For future reference they are also copied to the
same location as the content of this Cambridge Application during installation
(default: C:\Program Files\Cambridge\CambridgeContent).

The screenshots included in these instructions refer to a sample Cambridge


Application called ‘Course’. You will see the title of your own Cambridge
Application in place of ‘Course’.

How to Install your Cambridge Application to your hard disk

 Insert the CD-ROM into your CD drive.


 Locate your CD drive on your computer and open it to view the contents of
the CD-ROM.
 Double-click on file ObjectiveAdvanced4thEdition.exe

If you see a Security Warning asking you whether you are sure you want to run
this software, click ‘Run’.

The installation software will come up in a few seconds.


Follow the instructions of the installation software:

To install this Cambridge Application:


 Close all programs before installing.
 Click Next to go to the next screen.

You can click Cancel to cancel the installation at any time.

Please note: you need to have administrator rights on your computer to complete
the installation.
Please note that the installation of this Cambridge Application consists of two
parts:
 copying the content on your computer
 installing the application on your computer

In the screen above, choose the folder where you want to copy the content.

The default folder: C:\Program Files\Cambridge\CambridgeContent is


recommended.

Click Next.
Select ‘I accept the terms of the License Agreement’ and click Install.

Please note that the copying of the content may take several minutes.
Once the content has been copied, you will see the following message:

Click Install to install the application and complete this installation.


Select ‘Add shortcut icon to my desktop’ if you want a shortcut to this Cambridge
Application on your desktop.

Select ‘Start application after installation’ to automatically launch the application


immediately after the installation has been completed.

Under ‘Installation Location’ enter the location on your computer where you
want to install the application.

Note: This location should be different than the location you have chosen before
for copying the content.

The default location: C:\Program Files\Cambridge is recommended.

Click Continue.
The installation is now complete. Click Done to close the installation software.

Note: An installation log ‘Course_content_InstallLog’ (where Course is the name of


the Cambridge Application you just installed) is then created to the location
where the content has been copied to. Default location is:
C:\Program Files\Cambridge\CambridgeContent.
The installation log records any errors or warning that may have occurred during
the installation.

How to Uninstall this Cambridge Application

The following instructions apply to Windows XP users. If you are using a


different Windows OS please adjust accordingly.

To uninstall this Cambridge Application go to Control Panel and choose ‘Add or


Remove Programs’.

Look for the Cambridge Application you are trying to uninstall. You should be
able to locate two separate programs relating to this:

Course application
Course content

where Course is the title of your Cambridge Application.


1. Select Course content and click Change/Remove.

Follow the instructions of the uninstallation software:

Click Next to uninstall the content.

Make sure you have closed the Cambridge Application you are about to uninstall.
The content of the Cambridge application is now removed.

Click Done to exit the uninstallation software.


2. Select Course application and click Change/Remove.

This will complete the uninstallation of your Cambridge Application.

Note: You will need to manually remove file ‘Installation instructions’ which is
containing the present instructions from your system if these are no longer
needed. The ‘Installation instructions’ file is located where the content of the
Cambridge Application was copied during installation (default: C:\Program
Files\Cambridge\CambridgeContent).

Windows 8 users may need to manually remove some of the course content,
should the application not uninstall fully (default: C:\Program
Files\Cambridge\CambridgeContent).
CD-ROM instructions for Mac users

You can find the following instructions at the root of the contents of the CD-ROM.

content during installation.

this software, click ‘Run’.

Click Continue.

The installation is now complete. Click Done to close the installation software.

Cambridge Application you just installed) is then created to the location where
the content has been copied to. The default location is “Cambridge Content”, in
the folder “Cambridge” on the disk “Macintosh HD”. The installation log records
any errors or warning that may have occurred during the installation.
How to Uninstall this Cambridge Application

To uninstall this Cambridge Application, make sure you have closed the
Cambridge Application you are about to uninstall. Then, locate the folder to
which it was installed. Inside will be a folder named Uninstall_[product name]
content:

1. Click the Uninstall [product name] content file.


Click Next to uninstall the content.

The content of the Cambridge application is now removed. Click Done to exit the
uninstallation software.

Once the uninstallation procedure has finished, go back to the Cambridge folder.
In this folder, find the _ [product name] icon. Drag this icon into the Trash to
complete the uninstallation.

Note: You will need to manually remove this Installation instructions document
from your system if it is no longer needed. This is located at the location where
the content was installed.
