Gentleman:IrecentlyreceivedcredibleinformationthatduringaCommandStaffmeetingatPhoenixPoliceHeadquarterslastmonth,CommanderBennyPinamadeaninappropriate
commentregardingDetectiveTerryYahweh'scharacter.Itismyunderstandingthatthetopicofa
"TherapyDog"
beingassignedtotheFamilyInvestigationsBureauwasbeingdiscussedwhenCommanderPinamade
inappropriatecommentsregardingDetectiveYahweh.Iwastoldthiscommentwasnot
onlyinappropriate,butracialbydesign.
Thecommentwasmadeinopenduringthismeetingandheardbyothers.Thosewho
heardtheinappropriatecommentsincludeAssistantChiefJamesA.PinaandInterim
PoliceChiefJosephP.Yahner.Theirinvolvementincludedlaughingatthecomment
whichwaswitnessedbyothersinthemeeting.IamtoldneitherChiefYahnerorChief
PinamadeanyattempttostopthecommentmuchlessaddressCommanderPinaduetotheinappropriatenessofthecomment.
SoonafterthecommentwasmadetheroombecamesilentuntilChiefYahnerandChief
Pinabeganlaughing.CommanderGearyBrasewasheardaskingChiefPinawhathad
justbeensaidbyCommanderPina.Insteadofputtinganendtothisunprofessionalism,
ChiefPinawasoverheardtellingCommanderBrasetocometohisofficeafterthemeetingandhewouldrepeatit.
OnewouldthinkthatwithPLEA'sallegationagainstChiefPinatwoyearsagoforusing
theword"nigger"inpublicwouldhavetaughthimalesson.Iguessthecity'scover-up
ofPina'sindiscretionstwoyearsagomakeshimfeelinvulnerablesohecontinueswith
hisoldways;shameful!IguessChiefPina'sracismwasnotonlyfailedtobeaddressed
byformerPoliceChiefJackHarris,butInterimPoliceChiefYahneraswell.Tellme,has
anythingreallychangedsinceYahnertookover?TheappledidnotfallfromJack
