n much anticipated testimony, Manning himself takes the stand as a witness for the defense:
A Camp Arifjan, my nighs were my days, and my days were my nighs, so i all blended ogeher afer a couple days. My phone privileges were removed shorly afer my firs hree phone calls. I don’ know why.MANNING

I was in a prety sressful siuaion. They don’ allow news here. They don’ have any TV. They didn’ allow radio. I sared o really deeriorae in erms of my awareness of my surroundings and wha was going on. I was more insular
anxious all he ime abou no knowing anyhing.I usually have prety solid knowledge of wha’s going on
like in erms of my job, or my family, or curren evens ha are going on. I am usually grounded prety firmly in hose hings, in how I connec o he res of he world. Afer having hose cu off, I jus sared o no really ge anyhing.NOVEMBER 29, 2012I jus sared living inside he limied surroundings ha I had. My world jus shrunk o  jus ha cage.

I remember hinking I am going o die. I am suck here in his cage, and I don’ know wha is going o happen. I jus prety much had given up on a lo of hings. I didn’ know wha ime of day i was or anyhing else. I didn’ hink I was going o se foo on American soil for a long ime.

This cell ha we see in whie ape on he courroom floor
how many hours each day would you be in his cell a Quanico?COOMBSDepending on wha he schedule of calls was for ha day, and visiaion o oher areas, like a legal visi or a counselor visi ouside of my cell. I was beween 21 and 23 hours
someimes even over 23
as much as 23 and a half hours a day. I would normally si and ry o keep myself occupied. I would usually si on he rack. Someimes hey would allow me o have my legs up on he rack, in an Indian-syle posiion, bu someimes ha was no auhorized. MANNING
