The Ebola virus claimed its first life in the United States, and the Secretary of Health and Human Services Sylvia Burwell admits that there may be other potential cases of Ebola around the country. Americans are worried, especially in Texas, the epicenter of the outbreak. A recent WPA Opinion Research statewide survey conducted in Texas, shows that an overwhelming majority of Texans are concerned about the Ebola virus outbreak. In addition, a majority of Texas voters believe that the Obama Administration has not done enough to keep Americans safe from the virus outbreak in comparison to those that believe he has done enough.

Methodology
Wilson Perkins Allen Opinion Research conducted a survey of likely voters in Texas. Respondents were screened to ensure that they were neither a member of the news media nor a public relations company. WPA selected a random sample of likely voters from the Texas voter file. The sample for this survey was stratified based on gender, age, ethnicity and geography. This methodology allows us to minimize post-sur
vey “weighting” which can
reduce the reliability of survey results. Respondents were contacted by phone via a live telephone operator interview October 2-5, 2014. The study has a sample size of 750 likely voters in Texas with a margin of error of ±3.6% in 95 out of 100 cases.
