Historically,when people were prompted to conrm their Facebook prole name, there was no opportunity togive additional details or context on their unique situation.We now plan to test a new process that will let people provide more information about their circum-stances. This should help our Community Operations team better understand the situation. It willalso help us better understand the reasons why people can’t currently conrm their name, inform-ing potential changes we make in the future.Some people, such as political activists, want to use Facebook to advance a public cause but theydon’t want to do it using their Facebook prole. For some of these situations, our Pages product al-lows people to publish a Page without disclosing who the administrator is. Pages have much of thesame functionality as personal proles: you can like and comment on posts, message people pri-vately and have an unlimited network of connections. We know that this solution does not work foreveryone, but believe this product may be useful to people who do not want to use their personalproles for advocacy.

Based on feedback from our community, we are building a new version of the prole reporting pro-cess that requires people to provide additional information about why they are reporting a prole. This will help our teams better understand why someone is reporting a prole, giving them moreinformation about the specic situation.

Facebook no longer requires government IDs to verify people’s identity. People can conrm theirname with many forms of non-legal identication, including things like utility bills, a bank state-ment, a piece of mail, a library card, a school ID card or a magazine subscription label. We’re continuing to explore more options forpeople to be able to conrm their identity.

By default, Facebook uses a secure connection (https) when people use our service. That meanswhen people submit IDs to us, the information is encrypted. Only people in our Community Op-erations team dealing with cases can see these IDs, and we do not retain IDs after they have beenreviewed.
