CONSERVATIVE TWEETS FORCE MSM COVERAGE OF GOSNELL TRIAL
Last week, conservatives flooded Twitter to demand that the mainstream media cover the Dr. Kermit Gosnell infanticide trial. They saw rapid success, causing mainstream media coverage of the Gosnell trial to triple and non-Twitter social media and web/blog coverage to quadruple from Thursday to Friday. Additionally, Gosnell was tweeted about twice as much as President Obama on Friday, and sustained an advantage through Saturday.Discussion fell during the weekend, as is typical for any news story, but points to a need for conservatives to continue to ensure the issue remains in the public eye going forward.
TWITTER GOSNELL MENTIONS
Twitter discussion of Gosnell was dominated by criticism of the media and mentions of media figures advocating coverage of the trial, such as Steven Ertelt of LifeNews, Kirsten Powers, Dana Loesch, Conor Friedersdorf, and Michelle Malkin. Mainstream outlets who were called upon to cover it, and personalities such as Anderson Cooper who ultimately did, were also discussed.
