Dear District Attorney Doorley,I received the following information today from a constituent regarding an attack on her son hase oleman, a nonverbal African American autistic member of the !yracuse ity !chool District" orcoran #! track team which occurred during a track meet in $ochester, %& on October 1'( 2016(On October 1'

, 2016 in $ochester, %&, during a ross ountry $ace that was s)onsored by Omega *si *hi +raternity, he *ur)le and -old Invitational, hase ( oleman, an autistic, nonverbal !!D . orcoran #! /

 grade student who is a member of the cross country team, while in full uniform wearing attached runners bib with number, was attacked by artin acDonald %& *lates ##36415 while  )artici)ating in the track meet, )er two witnesses
 
at the scene( artin ac Donald was driving a ' door gold"tan !ubaru with aforementioned )lates, with no )rovocation, drove u) behind hase, got out of his car, grabbed hase and )ushed him to the ground, hovered over him and attem)ted to hit him when a female runner and male bicyclist intervened( At that time, r( acDonald ran back to his vehicle and  )ulled away( 7itnesses took down the )late number and descri)tion( A crime re)ort was filed 816326/025( r( acDonald was 9uickly located and admitted to attacking the teen( #is reasoning as re)orted to r( And rs( oleman, the )arents of the victim, by )olice officer !utton badge 82'/2, was that two weeks )rior, r( acDonald:s car had been broken into by a young black male and he thought hase was going to steal his car(he )arents were asked by Officer !utton if they would like to )ress charges for harassment, which they did( On October 2'

, the )arents received the attached letter from udge aroline ;( orrison of $ochester ity ourt stating that the warrant

 degree . *hysical ontact was denied(
 
hase has turned in his uniform and did not )artici)ate in the last track meet and according to rs( oleman< he does not intend to )artici)ate in future meets because he is traumati=ed( +or an Autistic, nonverbal student to have >oined a team, to be com)eting in organi=ed athletic )rograms and acting as a  )art of a team and community is the kind of success we strive for( +or all of this )rogress to be lost due to a racist, aggressive, un)rovoked attack on a disabled African American minor 
 
with absolutely no conse9uences is, for lack of a stronger word, unacce)table( 7e cannot continue to tolerate these ty)es of  behaviors and validate them in our court system( I would like to re9uest an e?)lanation as to why the ityof $ochester court system feels that this crime should go un)unished( hase oleman deserves an answer,the )arents, teacher, coaches and teammates who have worked so hard to build hase u) to a )lace where he feels safe and acce)ted and contributes as a )art of a team, deserve an e?)lanation and he !yracuse ity !chool district deserves an e?)lanation and an assurance that all of our ity !chool District students will be )rotected under the law while visiting $ochester, %&(oncerned members of the !yracuse ommon ouncil and !yracuse ity !chool District ommissionersof ;ducation an?iously await your res)onse($es)ectfully &ours,
