ABOUT THE AUTHORS
Laura Royden
is a redistricting researcher in the Democracy Program. She focuses on quantitative approaches to studying and analyzing redistricting. Before joining the Brennan Center, she was a research assistant for Data-Smart City Solutions at the Harvard Kennedy School's Ash Center for Democratic Governance and Innovation. Royden holds an S.B. in urban studies & planning and a minor in political science from the Massachusetts Institute of echnology.
Michael Li
serves as Senior Counsel for the Brennan Center’s Democracy Program, where he heads the Center’s work on redistricting. He is a regular writer and commentator on redistricting and election law issues in numerous national outlets. Before joining the Brennan Center, Li practiced law in Dallas, exas for over ten years and previously served as executive director of Be One exas, a donor alliance that oversaw strategic and targeted investments in non-profit organizations working to increase voter participation and engagement in historically disadvantaged African-American and Hispanic communities in exas. Li received his J.D., with honors, from ulane University School of Law and his undergraduate degree in history from the University of exas at Austin.
