emphasise
the
importance
of
the
Trans-Anatolian
Natural
Ga
s
Pipeline
(TAIMAP)
an
d
Trans-Adriatic
Pipeline
(TAP),
two
vital
an
d
irreplaceable
elements
of
the
Southern
G
as
Corridor
initiative
of
the
uropean
Union.
The
Southern
Ga
s
Corridor
is
a
strategic
project
for
the
U,
directly
contributing
to
the
diversification
of
ga
s
sources
an
d
security
of
supply
objectives
of
the
uropean
nergy
Union
strategy.
Both
TANAP
an
d
TA
P
ar
e
explicitly
featured
in
the
uropean
nergy
Security
Strategy
as
ke
y
security
of
supply
infrastructure
projects.
Furthermore,
Southern
Ga
s
Corridor
is
an
example
of
successful
cooperation
an
d
of
a
constructive
alignment
of
interests
between
the
uropean
Union
an
d
its
neighbours,
namely
Turkey,
Georgia
an
d
Azerbaijan.
These
energy
corridor
projects
will
have
positive
impacts
for
the
economies
an
d
citizens
of
those
countries,
yet
the
main
benefits
will
be
,
without
a
doubt,
for
the
uropean
Union.
The
U
ha
s
expressed
its
commitment
to
the
Southern
Ga
s
Corridor
projects
at
the
highest
level,
most
recently
during
the
visits
of
President
rdogan
an
d
President
Aliyev
to
Brussels,
on
25
Ma
y
an
d
6
February
respectively,
an
d
at
the
SGC
Advisory
Council
on
23
Febr ary
2017.
T
he
importance
of
TANAP
an
d
TA
P
for
meeting
the
U's
energy
an
d
climate
goals
ha
s
been
recognised
by
al
l
the
Member
States
when
they
unanimously
agreed
in
2013
to
the
incl sion
of
both
projects
on
the
Union
wide
list
of
Projects
of
Common
Interest.
Th
e
PCI
status
of
both
projects
w
as
re-confirmed
when
the
2
PCI
list
w
as
agreed
on
in
2015.
Al
l
Member
States
have
subsequently
approved
Union
financial
assistance
to
both
projects'
preparatory
an
d
development
studies
under
the
Connecting
urope
Facility.

assist
TANAP

to
the
extent

thereby

exemplify
that
