We’re a small team of fact-checkers doing big things.
 Since 2007, PolitiFact has
focused on fact-checking journalism by looking at specic statements made by
politicians and rating them for accuracy. No one tells us what to write about or how
to rate statements. Owned by the nonprot Poynter Institute, the reason we publish
is to give citizens the information they need to govern themselves in a democracy.
95% of PolitiFact readers voted in a statewide election in the past two years.
What else denes our unique audience? And what are people consuming on PolitiFact.com? Here are the facts:

No other website holds pundits, politicians and people in power accountable like PolitiFact.
Truth-O-Meter
PunditFact is a project dedicated to checking the accuracy of claims by pundits, columnists, bloggers, political analysts, the hosts and guests of talk shows, and other members of the media.
We dene a pundit as someone who
offers analysis or opinions on the news, particularly politics and public policy.
It’s the art of fact-checking at new heights.
Every important political statement, claim or charge is scrutinized, checked and
rechecked. Then comes the judgment: PolitiFact has expanded its reach, inuence
and audience on YouTube, a platform ripe for fact-checking. We’ve introduced the
Truth-O-Meter Minute and PolitiFAQ series
on our channel.

Facebook partnership
As a fact-checking organization certied by the International Fact Checking
Network, we identify, review and evaluate the accuracy of posts and photos on
Facebook and Instagram. This is part of
Facebook’s efforts to combat false news and misinformation on its News Feed. We stop hoaxes and bad info by attaching our fact-checks to misleading social posts and downgrading them in the platform’s algorithm.
