A new Public Policy Polling survey finds Sheriff Joe Lombardo vulnerable to opponents in Nevada’s competitive Republican primary race for Governor. With 27% initially undecided and voters willing to change their support, voters are not yet set on a single candidate. When given the entire field to choose from, Lombardo initially leads against closest competitors Dean Heller and John Lee by 13 points (26-13) and Joey Gilbert (26-12), however likely Republican primary voters abandon him in favor of Heller after hearing more information about his record. When asked again who voters support after learning more, Heller leads Lombardo 21-18, with 23% undecided. Also, Gilbert and Lee remain within striking distance of Lombardo, trailing him by 4% and 6% respectfully. The question of Trump’s endorsement seems to be a variable that stands to impact the outcome of the race—60%of voters say they would be more likely to vote for a candidate endorsed by Trump, and 49% say they would be likely to change their vote if Trump endorsed a candidate different from the one they were supporting.Republican voters are most concerned about several criticisms of Lombardo’s record:
