ON THE COVER:
The younger generation of stakeholders in the Sadiola GoldMine project in MaliIFC has been involved with the Sadiola Gold Mine sinceinvesting in 1995. Our involvement has included helping theclient to develop a comprehensive Environmental and SocialAction Plan (including a Resettlement Action Plan) to manageimpacts during the initial construction phase, as well as anIntegrated Development Action Plan to ensure that benefitsand opportunities associated with mining activities areshared with, and contribute to the long-term sustainabledevelopment of local communities.
“Part of the process has been creating synergies and build-ing trust between the different stakeholders to increase the positive impact of the project. It isn't an easy approach, butit has been worthwhile. What we've learned will help usreplicate this model in other investments.”
Ted Pollett,Principal Social Development Specialist, IFC
