He spent the ...view moreJames Kilcullen was born and raised in Ballina, Co. Mayo, the seventh child (but not the seventh son) in a family of fourteen. Aged 19 he got a job with an insurance company in Sligo. He spent the next 15 years working for various companies throughout the west; the last 10 in Galway.
In 1970 he moved to Dublin and five years later he set up his own business as an insurance broker and claims consultant. In 2000, after a very interesting and successful career, he sold the business and retired to write full time – the fulfilment of a life long ambition. He now lives in Dublin with his wife Mary. He has four grown up children and eight grandchildren.
He has a varied audience as his novels range from comedy fantasy to more serious topics including the environment. He received a Literary Award from the Independent Publishers Association in New York for his novel “Final Pontiff”.
