Cold War Citizen Diplomacy

A collection of materials about citizen (person-to-person) diplomacy initiatives aimed at ending the nuclear arms race during the Cold War era. The Our Move project (http://ourmove.org) is dedicated to the history of the American-Soviet citizen diplomacy movement, with a focus on Peace Walks. At the heart of Our Move are the stories of historic joint peace marches or "peace walks" in 1987 and 1988, and other marches like it, which preceded or followed in its steps. We support citizen diplomacy through electronic publishing and archiving, by facilitating collaboration, and by engaging in educational outreach in the name of peace and nonproliferation of nuclear and other weapons of mass destruction. Our goal is to support education, research, and informed civic engagement, using examples of direct exchange between people of different countries and cultures.
