Artistosomiasis

Artistosomiasis is a devastating, chronic, infectious parasitic disease affecting the brain and optic nerves. Motor function and perception of reality is distorted to the point of irrationality and idealism. Without treatment, fatality rates can be as high as 50%, and no absolute cure is known, leaving medical professionals forced to treat the symptoms, not the disease. However, preventative treatments such as inoculation with high doses of close-mindedness, bigotry and ignorance have been found to have some success in halting the progression of the disease into later stages.
