Adventures in Bolivia

The 1990s begins with George The First in the White House, FW de Klerk frees Nelson Mandela, the Iran Contra affair continues to dominate the news in the US, the first Gulf War starts, "Driving Miss Daisy" wins the Academy Award for Best Picture, and I learn that electricity and running water are gifts from heaven when living in Bolivia. I went from working as a highly specialized Intensive Care Unit nurse for sick newborns in very high-tech hospital settings, to learning how to be a midwife when there is no doctor, no nurses, no hospitals and no roads to get there even if you need one. The Big Switch. Hope you enjoy these reflections.
