The boys talk about the difference facets of anxiety in the BJJ world. They both suffer from anxiety in different ways and know people personally that suffer a great deal more than they do. With so many questions coming in about how to deal with it they decided to just do their best at how best to deal with anxiety, even tho they’re not experts...clearlyWhether you’re just starting out or just coming back, getting started is intimidating. Dealing with people at all can be overwhelming and frustrating. Throw in the fact that by nature, you have to interact with and make bodily contact with at least one of them and you have a recipe for a panic attack. We basically give our experience and ideas to you and how we overcome anxiety. This advice is clearly not perfect for everyone, but hopefully can help some. We also read a listener email about his battle with anxiety and panic attacks and how Jiu Jitsu has helped him overcome. Speaking of overcoming, we discussed that BJJ isn’t always the “be all end all” to your anxiety woes. Sometimes you need additional help from medical professionals. Kip is going through this now and talks openly about it. Hopefully, no matter where you are on the anxiety spectrum, this episode can give you some food for thought and potentially get you over some hurdles you may be having.
