Description
Episode #199 // In the last 20 years, employee engagement has become the dominant method of understanding and measuring job satisfaction. There are a number of well-worn engagement surveys, which have global reach and lots of historical data that can be used for benchmarking and statistical analysis. Many companies run an annual engagement survey, and pay close attention to the results, as if it were a key predictor of people performance. Some even reward their leaders based on improvements to this simple metric. Although an engagement survey may give you a good indication of how your people are feeling, does it really tell you how well they’re performing? In this episode, I dive into this a little deeper to see what the reality of employee engagement is, whether it really leads to better outcomes, and what other factors are likely to give you a picture of your people’s true performance!
