What is Conceptual Framework?

Conceptual Framework presents relationship between different specific constructs the researcher wants to study. A construct is a clearly defined concept. The construct that is used in the theoretical level, is broken down into more concrete concepts. Researchers, used conceptual framework to guide them in their data collection and analysis.
See next slide for emphasis:

Problem: Is there any relationship between mass media exposure and political knowledge?

Intervening Variable

These are variables that can weaken or strengthen the influence of the independent variable on the dependent variable. The characteristics of the respondents such as age, sex, education and religion are considered intervening variables. They may be useful in predicting learning. Hence, we may lump them under intervening variables.

Guidelines in Using Framework

Always draw the schematic diagram/illustration and explain the relationship of the boxes, circles, arrows and everything in the diagram for the reader to clearly understand its significance. If variables are to be related, identify the independent variable and the relationship of the variables. Framework must be understood by any reader since it is the blueprint of the study. A figure number below the diagram must be indicated as caption.

An Example:
Problem: Is there any relationship between teaching strategies and pupils performance?
Independent Variable Teaching Strategies Dependent Variable Pupils Performance Test Scores Class Participation Attendance Attitude
