 ‘Panch’ means five and ‘Tantra’ means strategies.  Panchatantra is a technical or scientific treatise.

 Panchatantra tales are renowned for their efficiency

and effectiveness of practicing Management.

Panchatantra is written in five sections:
 Mitra-bheda: The Separation of Friends  Mitra-samprapti: The Gaining of Friends

 Kakolukiyam: War and Peace
 Labdhaprasam: Loss of Gains  Aparikitakaraka: Ill-Considered Action / Rash deeds
