. PLC were first created to serve the automobile industry. In 1968 GM Hydramatic issued a request for proposal for an electronic replacement for hard wired relay systems. and the first PLC project was developed in 1968 for general motors to replace hard wired relay systems.

drum switches. mechanical timers/ counters etc. for the control and operation of manufacturing process equipment and machinery. PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) is a solid state device designed to perform the logic functions previously accomplished by components such as electromechanical relays. .

We can do this with a simple external timer. Let's assume that when a switch turns on we want to turn a solenoid on for 5 seconds and then turn it off regardless of how long the switch is on for.  . We can simply program the PLC to count its inputs and turn the solenoids on for the specified time. As you can see the bigger the process the more of a need we have for a PLC. But what if the process included 10 switches and solenoids? We would need 10 external timers. What if the process also needed to count how many times the switches individually turned on? We need a lot of external counters.

A Human-Machine Interface (HMI) is employed for this purpose. alarm reporting or everyday control. Text displays are available as well as graphical touch screens. A simple system may use buttons and lights to interact with the user. More complex systems use a programming and monitoring software   . HMIs are also referred to as MMIs (Man Machine Interface) and GUI (Graphical User Interface). A small PLC will have a fixed number of connections PLCs may need to interact with people for the purpose of configuration.

the driver uses the steering wheel to control the direction of the vehicle. brake pedal and gear stick to control the speed of the vehicle. when driving an automobile. To work with a system. For example. The user interface of the automobile is on the whole composed of . users have to be able to control the system and assess the state of the system. The driver perceives the position of the vehicle by looking through the windscreen and exact speed of the vehicle by reading the speedometer. and the accelerator pedal.

 Rotary encoder is that device which can produce digital pulse on its rotation  It will mounted with motor shaft and rotate at same speed as motor  The main function of it is that for stop and run the motor after predefined rotation .
