Born of Irish parents. a Mr. Josephine Leopoldine or Joserina as she was affectionately called by Filipinos. James Brown and Elizabeth MacBride. Bracken. was born in Victoria City.

On Feb. Josephine Bracken. Taufer's plan was to consult Jose Rizal. The trio stayed at No. a 63-year old blind American widower and machinist from New York City. accompanying George Edward Taufer. a Filipino resident of Hong Kong recommended Rizal as a specialist who could cure his eyes.
Josephine and her foster father went to Dapitan in Zamboanga to consult Rizal on his ailment. Josephine went back to Hong Kong returning to Dapitan with Mrs.

. Frequently barefooted. the Rizals proceeded to Laguna de Bay. Upon reaching Bay. Laguna. Josephine returned to Hong Kong.
The Abad family was full of praises for Josephine. 15. 1898. Josephine had a child named Dolores (nicknamed Pichay). Vicente Abad. In her second marriage. a businessman whom she met in Hong Kong. the Abads were balikbayans to the Philippines. Josephine Bracken remarried. this time to another Filipino. claimed that Pichay was not a daughter of Vicente but of Dr. all mestizos. Some of the Abads.On Dec. Soon. was one of her famous students. Josephine taught English in a school where the future president of the Philippines.

She was buried in the Happy Valley Cemetery in Hong Kong. 1902.Rizal's dulce extrangera expired quietly on March 15. a victim of tuberculosis of the larynx.
